Great Food, Disappointing Customer Service I've been a regular customer at Bagel Factory for years and stop by almost every week, especially on Sundays. The food is excellent, which makes this review even more disappointing to write. Last Sunday, I ordered three bagels with lox spread. When my number was called, I picked up the bag and left. When I got home, I realized I'd been given the wrong order. Whether I responded to the wrong number or they called the wrong number, I don't know--but no one verified the order when I picked it up. I called the store right away, expecting a simple "We're sorry, we'll remake it." Instead, I was asked for my order number (I had already thrown away the receipt), then the last four digits of my credit card, and then the exact total of the purchase, which required me to log into my credit card app. They eventually agreed to remake my order, but when I returned, instead of an apology, I was given a lecture about checking my receipt before leaving. The entire staff stood behind the counter while I was made to feel like I'd done something wrong. It was embarrassing and completely unnecessary. Mistakes happen in every business. What matters is how they're handled. A little understanding and good customer service would have turned this into a non-issue. Instead, I left feeling blamed and unwelcome. I'll probably continue coming because the food is so good, but I sincerely hope management works on treating loyal customers with a little more kindness and respect when honest mistakes happen. read more

Decided to try this spot, as I was in the area. I ordered the onion bagel, double-toasted, with lox spread on top and the tomato. The bagel itself tasted great and very fresh, but the lox spread, I thought, was slightly lacking flavor. The tomato slice was fresh and tasty. All in all, a good bagel snack, but a little more savory in the lox spread would be great. The service was nice and professional and there are 2 outside tables if you want to dine in. I have been to a few different Bagel Factory locations around town and would say this is probably the cleanest and most efficient. Parking is really easy, there is a free lot right out front and service is usually very fast. They always have a large selection and I never have to wait very long for my order. This past visit I got the Tuna Melt on everything bagel and thought it was really great. We also got a few different other types and those two really hit the spot. There are many places to get a bagel in LA but Bagel Factory is the place to go. If they're open, I'm driving down Robertson, and not in a hurry for wherever it is I'm going, walk in pick up 12 bagel blessings for a week. But let's face it, those dozen bagels last only about 40 hours in my house. So I walk there next time and work it off, only to get 12 more. What's there not to like about the bagel factory? I mean their homemade bagels are good lol whenever I'm in the area I always get me an egg and cheese bagel and a coffee. I love the cheese they use on the bagel. The onion bagel is buttery and tasty, crispy on the outside and super soft on the inside, yummy. I also like their bakery. I've tried several of their bread and they're all good. Service wise I mean it's fine, you order your food and drink and it's done within minutes, I mean sometimes they're packed and might take longer but that's cool, that means people like them as well so why not give em 5 stars? I love the Mid-City location... but ooh! you've gotta be ready when you're up at the cashier. Best to ask the guy behind you to hold your spot so you can eyeball the bagels and the menu. Most of the bagels are vegan (no eggs) tho my fav isn't (the nutrition bar with walnuts and honey). If I'm sharing with coworkers, I get an assortment of vegan bagels and vegan schmears, keeping all the nutrition bars to myself lol! They offer 2-3 hot soups daily. The coffee is hot tho just meh taste wise; at last look, four choices of creamers including oat and almond for self-serve, and lots of sugar and sweeteners. The place is clean; the prep staff quick; and, there are delicious challah aplenty. Seating is limited to two tables outside. Private parking at the corner of Robertson and Cadillac. It's a decent bagel for a decent price! What more can you ask for in LA? This isn't a bagel city, you can't really judge it as such. And that's okay. We get what we get, and that is the Bagel Factory. Is the bagel solid? Yes. Is there never enough cream cheese even if you ask for extra? Also yes. But it's dependable and consistent and their schmear is pretty solid. They also toast your bagel really well. A lot of places are under toasting these days and it's not cool. Some of the best New York style bagels I have had here in LA. They have a shop right on Robertson and a parking lot with a couple spaces. I came here early on a Thursday morning to pick up bagels for a coworker's birthday at the office and had no issues with parking or a line to the register. I ordered the bakers dozen (13 bagels) and chose a good variety from the case and a couple small containers of their cream cheese. Of the bunch, I only tried the jalapeño bagel but got so much great feedback about the others. These come uncut, which I think is better to prevent them from drying out and a stark contrast to the pre-cut grocery store bagel. The house made vegetable cream cheese spread is so, so delicious. That smothered on a toasty, warm bagel is heaven. You can definitely taste how fresh the bagels are. They also had a vegan plain cream cheese and a vegan chive option as well. The bagels all come in a large paper bag, which I thought was unique. Service is pretty subpar unfortunately. I walked in with a smile and left feeling pretty meh. The workers working the register weren't very helpful in recommending any popular bagels or their favorites, which would've definitely helped me through picking 13 unique bagels. I can see why the line probably gets long here. My recommendation is to step out of your comfort zone and pick a sampling of ones you normally wouldn't get and do a mix of sweet/savory ones. Welp. That was quick. Great way to turn off a new customer.... Rude workers. Walked in, was greeted by a very unfriendly woman who proceeded to show me a handful of bagels left over. They did not look appetizing. I came for a sandwich when I looked up bagel sandwiches near me this place popped up and was 7 minutes away. Google Maps said they were open till 7pm, I get in at 2:12 to find out they close at 2:30 actually. There was no sign with times on door. Well, there's a sign, but there's no times on it. So now I'm sitting here with this very "happy to be here" woman (yeah of course that is sarcasm) looking at leftover bagels and then she hits me with the ultimate sale of "I'm never coming back here" energy... she say oh and we're not making anymore sandwiches. Horrible service. Such a rude woman (Ilene? Irina?) working the front that gave SO much attitude when I asked if I could do a plain bagel with a side of smoked salmon. She kept saying I had to do the lox bagel and they don't do sides of salmon. When I pointed and said "why does it have a side of smoked salmon on the menu then?", she realized it said that and changed her attitude. Then over explained how the lox was better than the side because of how much salmon I'm getting while smiling and giggling because she knew she was wrong. Ridiculous. These are old school Brooklyn style bagels. Chewy on the outside, soft in the inside, traditional flavors, and super fresh. If this is what you like, you also know it's difficult to find. Not overpriced or oversized. Lots of fun East Coast Jewish flavors here, along with a few modern choices (pumpkin spice or rainbow twist) for the people who want them. Vegan breads and pastries. Soups and fresh prepared salads. I usually order some sort of veggie omelette sandwich with butter (not cream cheese) as the spread. (Cream cheese is a little strange after it melts and cools.) Ambiance was kind of dingy but the service was fast and kind. The everything bagel is loaded and is tasty toasted. I had the vegan cream cheese which was kinda blah and when walking in to the place, figured it would be as such, but i just added pepper and ate through the yummy bagel. Next time, i'll ask if they can just do avocado instead. I wouldn't say they are big or oversized bagels, they run just the perfect hand held size. There's some seating out front but it's just a few metal tables and chairs on the sidewalk out front, nothing really 'cute' about the ambiance. They have refrigerated section with juices and cream cheese to go, as well as day olds and a baked goods section. Looks like their menu is extensive in offering sandwiches and soups too. Today was our first time trying The Bagel Factory & the bagels themselves were good, they deserve a 5 stars. BUT the customer service was HORRIBLE. As soon as we walked in we felt unwelcome & the person helping us I believe her name was Kelyn (that's what the receipt says) she had a very ugly attitude & didn't seem to want to help us. Our order was given to us wrong, and when we asked for a bag for our items she didn't want to give us one. These are easily the best bagels around. They are so fluffy on the inside and perfectly crisp on the outside and so flavorful. They're jalapeno cream cheese is absolutely fire too. They've got a large selection with great variety of both bagels and spread and a pretty large menu of other toppings and fixings to go on them. They even have matzo ball soup and challah (although I haven't ordered those from there so can't give a review on them). The service is always quick and efficient. There isn't much in the way of ambiance. They have 2 small tables outside if you want to eat there but this is really just your no frills, pop in and order bagel counter.
