Brian came out promptly and replaced the sill plate without having to jack up the house. The job was completed with good attention to detail. The total job cost a little more than quoted from another contractor, but I feel My Handyman did it more quickly, and they didn't have to destroy drywall to install a house jack. Thrilled with the quality of the work and Brian's knowledge. I will hire them again for many other projects around my house. Here are the cons: 1. No real quote. They charge on a per-day basis. They did not give me a quote to finish the 3-day job ahead of time. The total cost ended up being reasonable, but it seems risky to contract work this way as a customer. 2. Slightly messy. Brian did a great job with the work itself, but there was a lot of trash left over in my yard. I suspect he would have cleaned if I asked, but it saved money to clean up myself. 3. Materials markup. If they buy materials to complete your job, you pay the costs plus some markup rate. The markup rate is not clear; the invoice simply explains that it covers "administrative costs." Brian was not able to articulate the markup clearly. I'm happy to pay for a convenience, but it's not clear whether the markup is exorbitant.

I would highly recommend Optimus Home Inspections. Not because of his prices, (I would pay more for the great customer service and services he provided) but because of his integrity, honesty and willingness to educate and answer any and all of your questions. With the report Chris provides, there is an additional document that allows you to request repairs on whatever items you choose to submit to the seller or just as a list of to do's for yourself. These items are very detailed about the issue and the possible cause as well as a recommendation and picture. This was extremely helpful as Chris found that the furnace in the home I am purchasing was leaking carbon monoxide into the living space. This detailed report allowed me to click on that item that required repair which came with the picture of the reading, where the leak was and the recommendation of being repaired by a licensed Hvac professionsl. I was able to click and email that directly to my realtor to create an addendum to my purchase agreement. You will not be disappointed. Optimus Home Inspections is worth every penny, and then some!! Thanks again Chris! You are welcome out to the lake anytime! Debee and Brian

Too many friends have shared horror stories about cost overruns and massive delays with their…read morecustom built homes. Not enough subdivision houses looked all that appealing during our search. I am writing this recommendation for Riemco with profound enthusiasm because they have shown us a better way. We have lived in our Riemco-built house for about a year, and absolutely love it! We chose Riemco over other firms that we looked at because we were so impressed with their the process that they showed us. It was detailed and well documented, and as an engineer who designs multi-million dollar infrastructure projects, I knew that such a process is critical to delivering quality on time and on budget. The process delivered throughout our project. The process began with Peter designing our house, and Lauren designing the interior details. Peter was wonderful to work with, did an incredible job translating our paper sketch into a buildable plan. Lauren was also amazing, and spent a great deal of time sitting down with my wife to nail down interior details to our exact liking. The vendors that they sent us to, to select our materials were also wonderful to work with, and provided a great deal of help. Big George's and Floor Traders deserve a special shout-out. As design wrapped up, we had a wonderful experience working with Ron during construction. This was where the process continued to payoff, as the we did not encounter any surprises. Ron was great about answering our questions and keeping things on track, as was Rob--who is an incredibly knowledgeable, hands-on owner. I was particularly impressed at the thought that he put into materials and techniques, and how he was constantly looking for ways to improve and deliver the best. The end result, however, is the ultimate argument in favor of both Riemco and its process. Our house is incredible. From the details of design that Peter and Lauren preformed so brilliantly, to the quality of construction that Ron oversaw, the house is amazing. There are so many wonderful things about--from the reduced demand on HVAC due to its solid thermal design, to the lack of wear that a typical house would experience, to the beautiful interiors that Lauren and Peter helped design, it is truly our dream home. We highly recommend Riemco for any new home construction, expansion, or restoration. The approach they showed us delivered quality beyond our wildest expectations. Understand that when one hires Riemco, they will not deliver a typical McMansion. Riemco delivers a truly solid, beautiful home built to the exact liking of the individual customer.
