The Lafayette Mercantile has some really adorable and unique clothing and gift items. Picked up a very nice vanilla and coffee bean scented candle. The Lafayette Mercantile is definitely a very cute place to stop in when in town. It's on the corner of Route 15 and Meadows Rd. Lafayette, NJ. There's small parking areas in the village. Just keep your eye out for them.

I had purchased a pair of shoes this past April in the Lee Massachusetts store. I wear them less…read morethan 10 times and walked less than 30 miles in them but they started to wear out very badly. I called the store and Lee and they said because they are defective I could bring them in to my local store in Jersey and return them even without a receipt. The least I was also able to look me up and look at my purchase very easily. The next day I drove out to the store and they gave me a horrible time about returning the defective shoes and then were unpleasant to deal with. I spent a half-hour finding an email from bath and then figuring out how to log into my bass account in order to deal with this mess. I finally got into my account and even then the manager said if I didn't have a matching form of payment they would not allow me to return the defective shoes. I should add that the store in Lee said that for defective products you have a year to return them and as you can see in the photos they are defective, unless it is normal that the heels of shoes wear out with 6 wearings and that the elastic breaks with only six wearings. I'm glad I was able to get my money back because I will never shop at Bass again after this interaction. I should also add that before this interaction I had purchased about half my wardrobe from Bass. This company is losing a loyal customer willing to drive very far because she loved the clothes so much and now after dealing with the Lafayette store I will never shop at Bass again. (One more thing... I drove that far because my last boots from Bass lasted 4 years and I loved them. I am literally wearing them right now. Still going but tired after 4 years and +500 miles. But these new ones couldn't make it past 30 miles and this Lafayette store said that the new boots wore out because I walked in them too much. Unbelievable.)
