New owner switched up management, hired a new facility manager and what a difference. I was was kept informed, everyone felt more personable, more relaxed. They go above and beyond, I mean way beyond. That staff is exceptional, actually not staff but family. Today is Monday, my Mom passed Friday night 8-1-25, she was 98 and 7months, still a smarty pants. Caregivers and Hospice employees came in on their days off to hug her with tears. My mother opened an AFH in Spokane and we ended up taking care of my boyfriend's grandmother and ended up reuniting his father with his mother whom he had not seen or heard from in over forty years. It was one of the things that steered my final decision towards caregiving; making a difference and the unexpected soul-touching moments. I might just have caregiving in my blood as my mother was an LPN and my great-aunt an RN. I have worked as an independent contractor caregiver, in AFHs and through agencies and of all the places that I've worked throughout my time as first an NAC and then as a CNA I have to say my favorite has been/is "Home Care Assistance". It's evident from the start that they care about their employees as well as their clients and the managing staff in Liberty Lake are beyond amazing. They all need to be honored and recognized for their hard work; Tia and Amy and Jen and Brandie should all get an award for going above and beyond mere management duties. I wouldn't want to work for any other agency ever. I am really happy that they, and all the clients I've been assigned to so far, really seem to like me because I plan on staying on for as long as they'll have me. They've got themselves a happy, experienced, very loyal employee right here. I admit we were jaded thinking terrible things about our dad and what was happening to him. At every turn we are impressed with this rehab. I would name drop the superior people working here but just look at the whole staff roster. Everybody here shows friendly compassion and skill in treating patients kindly and respectful. We told _______ we are paying the down payment today. We went in her office to discuss our options. We were told that Fairwinds has staff that comes in residents apartments to help with everything I just listed above. Man we were happy ! As we didn't know how mom would have handled the move. We were so relieved we didn't have to find out. All her needs would be met! We were very honest and upfront about mom's condition. We said sure let's do it! Mom can stay in her own apartment that she knows. GREAT! We were so happy and ________ made us feel like this was the right decision. We were told the extra cost and felt it was justified because getting her bathed is a chore and we are not caregivers & really didn't know how to bathe an elderly Alzheimer's mom. Mind you she was only 98 pounds but she was feisty and would speak her mind and fly the bird at you sometimes. In less than 48 hours she was comatose. She wasn't walking, we don't know if it was by choice or she forgot how. This went on till we secured her a spot at Fairwoods; they specialize in Alzheimer's/Dementia care. By the time the "NEW" home came to evaluate her she had lost a considerable amount of weight. We had to get her out of there. She either clashed with _______ or just was stubborn and shut down. Update now... has appetite is back, she gained weight, is actually getting herself down to the recreation room to socialize. We don't know if she thinks she's out on the town or what! But a very happy mom now!
