Great breakfast menu - tried the omelette with 1x meat, 2x veggies & cheese. Very good. Comes with hashbrowns and toast.

Some things I think others looking up this place will find useful:…read more *Each unit has entrances on both sides of the building, one facing the bay and one facing the other side. So: no need to worry about getting stuck with a unit that does not face the bay. *There are only 18 units in the whole hotel, each of them the same size: one bedroom, one bathroom, a living room with an electric fireplace, and a kitchenette. We always seek out places with kitchens or kitchenettes so we can cook in our unit are won't have to eat out every meal. One slight word of caution, though: these kitchenettes have a microwave and a stove top but no oven; and the refrigerator is pretty small. *The living room couch is also a hideabed, so the rooms technically sleep four each. There is a TV in both the living room and the bedroom. *The view of the bay is NOT a view of a beach, but there are some very positive things about this. First, the nightly rates are reasonable regardless of the time of year. Second, beyond a grassy area in front of the motel are tide flats, which fill up with water twice every 24 hours, at high tide. It's really fun to see the change when you're paying attention. Beyond the tide flats is the man-made Shoalwater Bay Berm, created to save Tokeland from the long term effects of increasingly severe weather events. The tide flats area between the hotel and the berm, that gets filled with water, is called Empire Spit. Google the area's tides for the day(s) you are there and you will know when to look for when the tide flats fill with sea water, as it doesn't stay full for very long. *The hotel is owned by the Shoalwater Bay Tribe and is on their land, as is the Shoalwater Bay Casino (the smallest casino I have ever been in). If you get a Players Club Card from the casino, which you do not have to do any gambling in the casino to get, you can use it to get 10% off your hotel booking. *The hotel has an outdoor pool that is heated, and a hot tub that is protected from the elements by a clear dome. There were no storms the two nights we stayed there, but I bet it would be fun to watch one from that hot tub. There is also a communal kitchen space for larger parties that can be booked for an extra fee. *I have seen other reviews complain about the lack of regular housekeeping, but this was not a big deal to us. And if you need fresh linens or toiletries, all you have to do is ask and the incredibly friendly staff will happily hook you up. In short, Tradewinds on the Bay is a modest place to stay that is also quite the hidden gem. Also had 5G AT&T reception with 3 bars. - Lots of places outside to sit, grill food, relax. - Short walk to an expansive undeveloped beach. - Longer but still short walk to the only pub in town (Doc's Tavern). - Quiet. - If you stay during the annual Rod Run to the End of the World car show, you'll probably be treated to a few cottage neighbors staying here with their classic cars. We had a T-Bird, Mustang, Olds 4-4-2, late 50's Impala and some sort of old Dodge. Highly recommended.

The beach access is a short 5 minute walk and it's pretty sparsely used so it feels like you have the whole beach to yourself. Yeah, Washington beaches are cool and windy, but that means no one is there! The Long Beach peninsula is one of my favorite road trips. The cottages are super fun. Jeff is always accommodating and is just the nicest dude you could meet. There are beach chairs to borrow, WiFi, DVD/VHS movies to watch (we never have, too much to do!) and some really nice Weber grills shared amongst the cabins. The interiors are small, but it's called a "cottage" for a reason and that's part of the fun. Somehow we always show up with way too much stuff, making it a little cramped, but that's on us. The kitchen works, but don't plan to do much serious cooking in it. There are some useable tools, pots and pans, plates, silverware. Don't plan on cooking a Thanksgiving turkey or anything like that, though. Plan on doing some grilling on the Webers. You'll enjoy sitting outside and grilling with live fire a lot more than messing around with an unpredictable stove! This place is really dog friendly. Our little guy turns into a whole different dog when we come here. Somehow the beach and the freedom he has really brings out the inner wild and it's so fun to see. I couldn't help posting a few pictures. Can't wait to come back!

Amazing hotel for a stopping point before driving down the Oregon coast!…read more Service: The front desk staff was so friendly! They helped with getting an extra blanket, and answered questions I had. Room: very comfortable beds. Very clean room with plenty of towels in the bathroom. There is a larger mini fridge and a microwave. It was nice to have the fridge to store food I had brought. Swimming Pool: small indoor pool and tiny hot tub. Both were warm. The front desk has to unlock the pool which is great for safety. My kids had a lot of fun playing in the pool. Breakfast: Amazing selection for breakfast. Several different stations around the big room it's served in which is nice for not having to wait in line for one thing. My kid's loved the make your own waffle station. I enjoyed the crunchy bacon and eggs. They use real plates and silverware which is great for lessening waste and single use plastics!

But the service representative at the front desk was genuinely incredibly rude about informing us of this and showed zero hospitality and politeness. Its not his fault that the building seems to have incredibly micromanaged and strict regulations though, so I'm sure he was only trying to follow policy. Which is fine! But he showed zero candor, politeness or anything at all and coldly told us we'd have to book another room for the fifth person. We ended up needing to have someone sleep in the car for the night. Do not come here if you have 5 or more people, the website barely describes the 4 person policy and it is enforced so thouroughly by the management that it leaves absolutely no room for the staff to be able to provide a welcoming and inviting experience for your average inn enjoyer. After this experience we decided that we wanted to cancel our second night to prevent someone from sleeping in the car again, however they have a policy you have to sign that made it so we would not get a refund whatsoever for that night so we ended up being forced to pay for the second night anyway and go to another hotel. Unbelievably poor service and policies, rude staff, and all around an unpleasent affair.
