Can't think of any negatives. - Clean, well-appointed cabins. - Small kitchen is equipped with coffee maker (including coffee/filters), small fridge, oven, all the utensils, microwave. - Electric heat in two rooms, no A/C. - There's a TV although we never turned it on. - Wifi works. Also had 5G AT&T reception with 3 bars. - Lots of places outside to sit, grill food, relax. - Short walk to an expansive undeveloped beach. - Longer but still short walk to the only pub in town (Doc's Tavern). - Quiet. - If you stay during the annual Rod Run to the End of the World car show, you'll probably be treated to a few cottage neighbors staying here with their classic cars. We had a T-Bird, Mustang, Olds 4-4-2, late 50's Impala and some sort of old Dodge. Highly recommended. read more

We've stayed here twice now with our old furry buddy Huxley, and can't wait to come back for a third. The beach access is a short 5 minute walk and it's pretty sparsely used so it feels like you have the whole beach to yourself. Yeah, Washington beaches are cool and windy, but that means no one is there! The Long Beach peninsula is one of my favorite road trips. The cottages are super fun. Jeff is always accommodating and is just the nicest dude you could meet. There are beach chairs to borrow, WiFi, DVD/VHS movies to watch (we never have, too much to do!) and some really nice Weber grills shared amongst the cabins. The interiors are small, but it's called a "cottage" for a reason and that's part of the fun. Somehow we always show up with way too much stuff, making it a little cramped, but that's on us. The kitchen works, but don't plan to do much serious cooking in it. There are some useable tools, pots and pans, plates, silverware. Don't plan on cooking a Thanksgiving turkey or anything like that, though. Plan on doing some grilling on the Webers. You'll enjoy sitting outside and grilling with live fire a lot more than messing around with an unpredictable stove! This place is really dog friendly. Our little guy turns into a whole different dog when we come here. Somehow the beach and the freedom he has really brings out the inner wild and it's so fun to see. This is the coolest place! We didn't have any pets with us, but they are pet friendly. The cabin we stayed in was really cute, and spotless. Jeff and Lillian were great. Friendly environment, games at the office. Weber BBQ's free of charge. It is less than a 10 minute easy walk to the beach. Wow! Just perfect. We had 4 couples get cottages and we all hung out for 3 nights. The kids and dogs were where we could see them playing, fire pits, swing,picnic tables,close to grocery stores and takeout..,.I could go on and on. The cabins were cozy with kitchettes so we could cook and the owners live in site and were helpful and very friendly. New linens and beds so we slept like rocks after biking and playing on the beach all day. We will be back! read more

Spent Memorial Day weekend and can't wait to return. Everything we wanted. Quiet, clean accommodations. Definitely need to bring a beach house mentality and all will be well. A magical oasis! We discovered Shahti Cottages when we searched for "dog friendly" logging on the Long Beach Peninsula. When I called to learn more about the site, I spoke with the owner Jeff. He was very pleasant and answered all my questions. We arrived after a 3 plus hour drive with low expectations, man...were we wrong. The property is very historic, nestled just a 7-minute walk down a beautiful path to the ocean. Our cottage was situated next to a quiet slough with an eagle's nest in the tree above. The cabin was nicely appointed with modern yet retro conveniences (great shower head). The grounds had BBQs, fire pits, and all were dog friendly. Highly Recommended!! read more

This is one of those places you are somewhat reluctant to give a positive rating because you want to keep it for yourself. It was exactly what we were looking for: -beachside but not in town -dog friendly -detached cabins (ie. none of the cabins share walls) -rustic environs. Jeff, Lillian and Sidney were excellent hosts; Jeff has all the fishing/shelffish knowledge while his wife and daughter invited my daughter to do some crafts. My only minor complaint is that it would be great if there was a communal fire ring, but honestly it is better to go for a campfire on the beach! read more

It truly is the most amazing place to stay! Once you enter the grounds you instantly feel better. Great staff, great price. Very family and pet friendly. The only down side is they need new mattresses. The business is for sale right now and hopefully the new owner will read this review and furnish the rooms with new beds :-) Other than that, I am consistently recommending this place and have stayed there yearly for the past three years. read more

I love coming here. This was our second visit. We didnt enjoy it as much as the 1st as we were down wind from pot smokers so our cabin stunk the entire weekend. It's fine if you enjoy the smell but we don't. Last cabin we were in (The Goddess) had the best bed ever!!! We will probably stay in that one next time. It is quite a bit smaller than Bear where we just stayed but no pot smoke smell. They offer grills for use as well as 2 fire pits. They are a short walk over a sand dunes to the beach. There are picnic tables and only 8 or so cabins so it is quaint and quiet. I'd really love to do a family event here. It would be perfect!! read more

So nice and quiet! We just stayed this past weekend, boyfriend, chihuahua and I. The cottage was so nice and clean and CUTE! Ours was cat themed, but I don't think the dog minded. :) The bed in the bedroom was a little out of whack (springs in my ribs!), but the other bed and couch were much comfier. We had a wonderful memorial weekend here at the cove. We stayed in cottage 9 angel themed. It was clean, rustically comfortable (small stove and oven, mini-fridge, the most comfortable plush queen bed), with a spotlessly clean bathroom that looks as though it was recently updated. Small lamps around the room gave relaxing light in the evening, and there was a selection of videos and games for those who wanted that distraction. Picnic tables and grills were available for use, and all cabins were separated by carports, and did not share walls, allowing for privacy. We slept with the windows open and could hear the frogs behind us at night, and could hear the ocean waves during the day. It was a short walk to a clean beautiful ocean beach. Stay here! They do allow pets, and smoking outside on the property. :). The hosts were fantastic and will direct you to the oyster beds and will rent clam tubes to you during the season. :) We were bummed to have to leave :) By the way, these owners have been here since Sept 2015, so any review before that isn't theirs, however they have great stories about the history of the hands this place has passed through !! read more

My husband, dog and I just spent a wonderful weekend at Shakti Cove. The accommodations are comfortable and just what we were looking for. We stayed in Dog Cottage and the bed was so comfortable! The beach was just a five minute walk down a path and we had it to ourselves. Lillian and Jeff were perfect hosts offering any help we needed but also allowing us our space. hippie-retreat alert! If that ain't your thang, don't bother. Go to any other place in or around Long Beach and leave Shakti Cove to me and my pagan sisters. When I arrived, the proprietress, Celia, was standing outside talking to some guests. I got out of the car, and she said, ''you're not Amani, are you?' She remembered me from a phone call two days prior. she hugged me and said my cabin was ready, that I'd rest easy in the arms of goddesses tonight. Let me say that I was having a nervous breakdown and was really in need of some nurturing. Celia provided it in that moment, and left me alone to take care of myself. Ideal. She gave me the key to my darling little place and pointed me toward the beach, a 10 minute walk through the woods and the tall grass. I spent an hour reading the three old guest books on the night stand, dating back to 1998, all the stories of love and healing that happened in that cabin. I enjoyed nice deep sleep in total darkness and silence. The only light was from a central light pole in the middle of the 'village' that is Shakti Cove, and the only ambient noise was my refrigerator. The sound of the ocean was super soothing, as the sound of the ocean is. I ate a great brunch the next morning (open on Easter- gotta love it) at the Full Circle cafe, down the road a ways, on the beach. Awesome. I could keep rambling about my love for Shakti Cove and the peninsula in general, but I'm afraid too many people will discover it. read more

We have been going to Shakti for several years and several hosts. We love the quiet and peaceful setting. I don't know if their policy has changed but I was annoyed at our last visit. The host/owner (a black woman) was not friendly. Reservations if cancelled must be done two weeks prior your visit (this is ridiculous). I was chastised for not parking in the tiny parking garages adjoining the cabins even though I explained there wasn't sufficient room for my full size pickup and another car already parked inside, (unless you wanted to crawl out of the windows). We have four well behaved dogs. We had to pay for all four and were not allowed to leave one or two in the truck at night. Our cabin # 5 had a very strong musty smell even though the windows were open. Our TV was 12 or 13 inch, tiny by today's standards. No microwave in the cabin. Don't misunderstand I like the quaint cabins but when paying $ 140 a night one begins to wonder. They could do so much to upgrade the cove, starting with the personal in the office. I hope to return sometimes, but not until some changes are made. read more

Shakti Cove is the most wonderful place to relax and unwind. Just walk onto the beautiful property and you feel better, it's so peaceful. All the cottages are comfortable, clean, well equipped, private and charming. Situated far from the tumult of Long Beach and hidden in its own quiet cove at the end of the street, it's a place to read, walk, look at the ocean, contemplate and reconnect with your soulmate. We've been there about 12 times and just keep coming back. Great grocery stores nearby. Good restaurants. Bring a book. Bring your sewing project. Bring a deck of cards, a bottle of wine and your dog. You will receive a warm welcome and then will be left alone to relax. Ahhhhh. read more

My wife and I stayed last week in the Angel Cabin and had a great time. The town is small and there isn't much to do, but that suited us just fine... We relaxed in the cabin, slept, walked along the beach and watched old VCR movies courtesy of Shakti Cove. I also appreciate how dog friendly they are. This place is heaven on earth for those of us who want to get away from it all. Very dog friendly. Cabins encircled, nestled in the woods with a bright sunny center yard for picnics and gatherings. A short stroll through a pine thicket and grassy dunes reveal a wide, sandy and stunning beach. Most of the time there are few on the beach as most people are down the road at Long Beach. The cabins are quaint and rustic with kitchens provided with the basic pots and utensils to cook up your favorite seafood stew. The cove keepers are friendly and helpful while respecting the "get away" aspect. This is my favorite place on the Washington coast. I have spent many visits with my beloved dogs at Shakti Cove. We recently spent Christmas at Shakti. A first for me. I have always visited at the end of summer. Stunning! Wild waves and wind with a warm cabin to return. Book stores, restaurants and a grocery within walking distance. I can't wait to return. read more

Have been going to Shakti Cove since the early 90's, and am sad to have to report the new managers do not have the accommodating nature we usually have enjoyed. Just experienced bugs in the bathroom towels, and having reserved our favorite cabin, 2 weeks in advance, were given a different cabin upon arrival. These new managers need some lessons in hospitality, and listening. read more

All I can say is ... AMAZING! As soon as you drive in you feel an inner peace(at least I did). The cottage was clean and very comfortable, very well equipped. My Hubby and Son, daughter in law and I stayed for 2 nights. We were able to relax, unwind and just be ourselves. I forgot to bring some supplies and Jackie went into her own kitchen to supply me with what I needed! Fire on the beach! Really AWESOME! The only bad thing I could say is... I got nothing! He lived on the kitty corner to the entry and made my first arrangements here. I feel calm, safe, curious and rested when staying here. Unfortunately, this lovely setting has gone down hill. Been going there for years and had the best service, clean cabin etc. , but this year the staff was hostile when an issue in the cabin was presented to her. She took no responsibility, nor did she apologize for the dead ants that fell out of the towel I opened to dry my hair. We packed up and found some funky, friendly and clean accommodations down the road. I think hospitality 101 was a class she missed. read more
