It's not as flashy and in your face as some of the other diners in town, but it should not be overlooked. Spinakker's offers good service and lovely, affordable food without frills and fuss, but certainly with character. With a good family vibe and warm atmosphere, it's a restaurant for all weathers, and shouldn't be cast over - it's a bit more of a secret, but it's got substance.

On arrival, I advised the staff that I had placed my order on Just Eat, and was politely advised that it would be several minutes for it to be ready. I had no issue at all waiting for some time for such lovely food as I understand freshly prepared high quality pizza takes time to prepare. Whilst I was waiting, I observed the young girl behind the counter who was cutting the pizzas chewing gum and blowing bubbles with her gum. I felt this was very unhygienic and inappropriate however I just put this down to her being inexperienced in food preparation. After waiting for a while, I noticed that she was cutting a barbecue pizza (which I had ordered) and was placing other items of my order into boxes. She placed all of the order on the counter. She then prepared several other orders of which were given out to other people who were waiting. After several minutes, I asked one of the male members of staff if that was my order sitting on the counter. He looked at the receipt and said that it was. I politely advised him that it had been sitting there for several minutes, to which his response was "no it wasn't!" in a very rude and aggressive tone. A simple "Sorry" would have been nice. When I got my pizza home (which was only 5 minutes away) I discovered that all of my food was cold and not very pleasant. To the disappointment of my 6 year old son, we also discovered that the potato wedges with barbecue sauce and cheese which we had ordered had no barbecue sauce and cheese even though we had paid extra for this. In addition to the above, we also did not receive garlic dip which was on our order. I cannot believe how poor this experience was considering how awesome Chequers Pizza usually is. Very disappointed :o(

Not sure what we got but it was a lot of fish, and an abundance of fries. We've been in Scotland and Ireland for about 8 days or so, and have eaten fish and chips about 6 times. This had to be our least favorite. Batter / crust too thick, flavor of coating was that if a deep fryer seeming to need a refresh of oil. The service was decent, however all of our entrees were delivered to another table who ordered well after us, with one of the people hand delivering our food across the aisle to us. TWICE! Minimal tartar sauce provided, after asking for it... could've gotten more I suspect, but wonder who would've received it (humor intended). Place was empty when we arrived very quiet, either a lingering grease smoke in the room. Way too warm inside, with little to no ventilation. Stuffy is a good description. Last note.... The two orders rang up at over $38 / £29. Too expensive for a small town joint, with not the best flavor. IMO. I took no photos, not worth it.
