Booked this boat for the San Diego Boat parade , Dec14 event. I booked a month in advance. I checked weekly to make sure the event /charter was going to happen. I booked flights and hotel rooms for friends and family. As time approached the Friday before the event on Sunday the charter was still happening. Avoid this company at all costs! We flew down to San Diego from Oregon to have a special Valentine's day/anniversary. Booked a sunset cruise on the Chere Amie. We got onboard at 4:30, cruise was scheduled to depart at 5. 5:45 rolls around, we're still at the dock. I happened to overhear a couple crew members talking to each other. They said there was engine trouble, and the cruise wasn't going to happen. No announcement was ever made. Word just slowly circulated throughout the guests, as the crew encouraged people to keep buying their overpriced drinks. I got in the back of the long bar line, to close out my tab, for the one drink I was able to purchase in the hour and a half I had been onboard. The bar tender continually and consistently blew off the long line of people patiently waiting, in order to serve people who ignored the line and just walked right up to the bar. After about 35 minutes, I was finally being helped, and while I usually tip far more than most, I declined to give her a tip. When she saw that, she started cussing me out. Even as I walked down the dock, away from the janky boat, she was still yelling obscenities at me. I hadn't raised my voice, or said anything rude. I don't know if she was drunk, or just unhappy with her life, but either way, her behavior was extremely unprofessional. None of the crew offered apologies or explanations as we left, just mumbled that I'd be refunded. So, there we were, at 7pm on Valentine's day, trying to find an activity that wasn't booked up or sold out. It was extremely frustrating. So, if you want a "cruise" that doesn't leave the dock, with an inconsiderate crew and hostile bartender, the Chere Amie is the boat for you! read more

Yacht looks better in photos that is a huge understatement! You get what you pay for. It is lacking class and updates. It felt more like a ferry ship rather than a charter yacht. If you are looking for budget over quality this might be your choice however. read more

We got tickets for ourselves and friends to go on the Chere Amie to watch the Parade of Lights. We went 2 years ago and had memories of being right next to the parade seeing each beautifully decorated boat in detail. This year however was a very different experience. We left the dock at Shelter Island and proceded down to the Coronado bridge and turned back North heading back towards the bay-front, the bartenders said we were going to go back the bay and going to stay in one place while the parade went by us. Unfortunately that didn't happen, we cruised back up the center of the bay, we could see the parade progressing along the shoreline by the Embarcadero but nothing happened to get us close enough to see the boats. At the absolute closest point we were probably 100 yards away from the boat parade and could just see it was a bunch of boats with Christmas lights on them but we drove right past the area they were in to head back to the dock. We could see other large boats from competing companies parked along the parade route just as we thought we were going to and I'm sure they had a great view. The view from the shore would have been 10x better. Perhaps they mis-timed their trip so we arrived at our viewing point after they had already passed? Either way, there are now six of us who felt we didn't even see the parade. Additionally, on the upper deck they were playing music out of large speakers but also playing DIFFERENT music from the built-in speakers that are part of the boat, it was quite annoying but we had secured a good spot to watch the parade that we never ended up seeing. Several staff members seemed to notice the music issue but didn't take any action. The bartenders also firmly let you know that when you pay with a credit card they CAN NOT give you back your card or close you out until the end of the trip. Probably a tacky ploy in hopes you will keep drinking instead of having one round and being done. Then, exactly during the 5 minutes you are going to be "viewing" the parade they come up and announce you need to come close out your tab. I don't know why the captain seemed to be unaware everyone on the ship wanted to see the parade, but overall it was disappointing. My background is in hospitality and the entire business is about anticipating the needs of your guests and I don't feel that here the customer experience is prioritized, they just want you on the boat, buying drinks then off again as quickly as possible. read more

Oh my God when I paid $60 to go see the Christmas lights on the bay I had no idea how bad it could turn out. I just had positive ideas but in line I got behind the drunkest most obnoxious Drunk Lady (DL) in the world who they let on the ship to destroy my evening. Do you know how misery loves company while this betch took me down and I was nothing but in the holiday spirit mode. She was so wasted she should not have been allowed on the boat from the start. SHe could not even show her tickets on her her phone so they had to look her up by name. Everyone else had to show their phone and they were scanning tickets. She then fell down the stairs trying to board the boat. They helped her up and handed her a glass of champagne. (WOW) But even being so wasted the bartender knew she was wasted at the start and decided to serve her from the start. Which i witnessed i was sitting next to her at the bar in fact she bought me a drink too. So they obviously don't care about their clients they care about making money at the bar . She couldn't even speak legibly enough to tell the bartender what she wanted she got served. Everyone thought we were together but she just attached herself to me and was obnoxious and rude and annoying, she pretty much ruined my whole experience. I spent the whole time trying to avoid her on the boat but she kept tripping cussing loudly, and causing scenes. (there were kids on the boat too). Everyone else was also trying to avoid her at some point she came onto the captain of the boat and wouldn't dettach herself from him they had to have security remove her from him and when the captain was not looking she was STEERING the boat!! At some point she tripped and almost fell off the back of the boat which I thought for sure was going to happen because she was so drunk and she was going to mess up our adventure... unfortunately she remained on the ship the entire time, long enough to torture me through the time!? Also they kept letting her smoke cigarettes on the boat and that was supposedly prohibited. *cough Save your money this deal will really screw up your time by allowing idiots on the boat and doing nothing about it for normal passengers. The weak drinks cost $12 a pop so bring your own flask if you HAVE to go on this nightmare boat. The H'orderves were cheese, cracker, hummus and spinach dip. NO PLATES. So yeah super cheap owner, very low class. read more

This boat was perfect for our event. For my 26th birthday we did a disco themed boat cruise at sunset and everything was easy and went perfect. We spent all of our time up on the rooftop dance floor as we brought additional speakers to play music. Downstairs at the bar was basically to just grab a drink and come back up to dance. I'm seriously disappointed in the Easter brunch cruise that cost $60. I knew walking up to the dock that this was already questionable and made a mental note of the life vest locations on board. The overall appearance inside and out is very run down. The food was not as advertised. "Veggie omelet, meat omelet" were not present; only an egg type casserole. "Crispy hash browns" were a pile of mushy potatoes. "Freshly baked pastries" were clearly from Costco. Unfortunately, if you have any food restrictions, they can not accommodate you as the options are all very limited. The bottomless mimosas were very cheap and left a horrible after taste. I can't imagine that this cost more than a couple bucks per person to feed us. The cruise was supposed to be from 11-1 and we left late and returned early. I embarked on the Halloween Party that took place on Chere Amie. I was with my boyfriend dressed as Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy. I give it 4 stars because it met my expectations, but I truly believe it could have been 5 if the look and feel were updated a bit. I also feel that the DJ could have played more Top 40 + Hip Hop and less EDM/Oldies. Of course, this is just my personal opinion. I loved the little snacks they have - hummus and pita or spinach dip. I loved the hummus! They had 2 levels, one with the bar and very nice bartenders and the top one was the dance floor. Most of it was covered by a roof except for the end (not sure the technical term). It was a really cool experience being out on the water feeling the fresh ocean air. I booked this for my 30th birthday with a bunch of friends. I didn't even see a picture of it because a friend sent me DP's phone number and said to call him because the Chere Amie would fit the whole group (we had around 25 people). Like other reviewers said we were able to do outside catering which was great. When we got to the dock i was in shock out how big this thing was. Definitely could have invited another 50 people to party with us. DP & his kids were great. I would definitely book this again for another event in SD! read more

We lost my grandmother a month ago and I wanted to do something special for my mom for Mother's Day. Now I have no idea what we can do now on such short notice. Went on a cruise aboard the Chere Amie recently. The service was great, but the views will have me coming back. An amazing overall experience! They had a full bar with local craft beers and well mixed cocktails. The finger foods were also pretty good and kept me full to continue to enjoy the time with my friends. read more

My family and I flew out to San Diego for my sister's college graduation and had a cruise brunch planned with this company 3 months out. A day before the brunch, they sent us an email to cancel and said they would give us a refund. That's was in June, it's October now and my family and I haven't gotten a refund. We went in the Cinco de mayo cruise. This experience was awful. The boat was substantially less impressive than the advertisement. The ran put of the high quality liquor with in 20 minutes. The boat left 20 min late but arrived back before the scheduled time. Top it off the owner was a total jerk off to the crew. I had VIP tickets and only drink wine and when I asked for wine - there was no wine opener. If it was found, I was not informed, but for the first 2 hours of the cruise the two bar people was unable to locate the opener. (Why would I lie about this?) I clearly informed you to not bother to respond because everything about your original add (which has since been altered) was BS. I don't want this to become a back and forth and wasting my time. How about we call it quits - your add was false. The service was awful and that's the end of it. Suck it up and deal with the bad review. You and owner deserve it read more

I recently attended a yacht party. So, first impressions were not great. Several people took notice that their prices were lowered, after many paid the full price, but it's to my understanding staff sort of denied it by saying the lower price wasn't available to all, even though it was clearly available, for all, on Eventbrite. Lol. We chose to go anyway, as we had been planning it for a month. The boat itself is run down and my friends didn't care for the drinks. The music was actually okay. Lots of old hits but some new, too. And I liked the security gaurd, he was friendly. But other than that, there weren't many other positives. read more

What a wonderful experience!! I had booked another boat to help celebrate my birthday, however they canceled just days before the event! Lucky for me that they did tho, as I was able to get in contact with DP (the amazing owner) and he came in for the rescue and made the very stressful situation, extremely smooth and painless. Multiple times he went out of his way to make sure our group was accommodated. The actual experience on the boat could not have been any better. The entire crew was delightfully friendly and all of them made sure we had the best day possible. We were on the Chere Amie Yacht to watch the Bay of Lights Parade. The owner was enormously rude to us on three separate occasions. I'm pretty relaxed and so is my husband and my son. I don't know if he was having a bad day or what his deal was. I concur with the previous reviewer that mentioned they were pushed out of the way when the boat was docking. He also did this to us. In my opinion the owner needs to stay home and hire someone else to do the work. He's terrible with people and shouldn't be interacting with anyone. Only giving two stars because the service. The price is great. You cannot find anywhere else that is cheaper than what I was charged. When we finally got on the boat and departed the owner told us that we had more people than we did. When we did our own count and told him we were 15 people less than what he said we had he gave us a look as if we were stupid. We had to do a final count at the end when the guest were getting off the boat for him to know there were in fact less people than he counted. When we were coming back to land and the they had to park the boat the 2 guest of mine were watching and I guess they were in the way. So instead of politely asking them to move they were pushed out of the way by the owner. Very unprofessional. The bar tenders on board were not real bartenders. They were just pouring drinks. They didn't not know how to make mixed drinks other than well drinks. If you wanted something that involved 3 or more mixes together they would not know how to do it. read more

This was a pretty decent sized yacht. A really good friend of mine hosted a private event on this boat! The owners and staff were awsome. The yacht had a bar, bathrooms were clean. The top level is where my friend performed and was very spacious! I think top capacity is 120 people! Great place to throw a venue. The went around Coronado. We were under the bridge while my friend performed his awsome music! Everyone had a blast! I loved it!! read more

I recently had the pleasure of using Chere Amie Yacht Charters for an after party for my wedding. I cannot begin to describe how professional, accommodating, and wonderful our experience was for our big wedding day after party. To begin with DP, owner and operator, went above and beyond meeting with my wife and I prior, to give us a tour of the yacht and working with our busy schedule. The yacht was able to pick up us from the docks at our wedding venue and took us around the San Diego Harbor for a beautiful two hour tour. We had an open bar with excellent bartenders who made sure none of our guests were waiting long for a drink. By the end of the trip all of our guests were complimenting about the great service and tour around the harbor. It was an excellent addition to the wedding and would recommend DP, along with his great crew to anyone. read more

This boat is great for having bachelor parties, bachelorette parties, single groups, corporate meetings, and the best thing is you can either bring your own caterer or they have their own catering. The prices are reasonable. I enjoyed the mix of music that included Gilligan's Island's theme song! There is plenty of space to dance, have fun and capture the beauty of San Diego via the water. We were invited on this yacht for st. pattys day for my birthday and we did not know what to expect as we had never heard of the Chere Amie before. When we arrived we immediately noticed how run down the boat looked and we were joking about it going down with all these people that were going to be boarding. When we got on we found a table downstairs next to the bar so we snagged it and I decided to go upstairs to get some food. My husband and I were in line for about 30 minutes because they kept running out of food and the portions that they kept bringing out were so tiny they just kept running out after a couple groups of people. Mind you the tour is 2 hours so we spent 30 minutes of that time waiting for food in a room upstairs that was extremely hot and I was sweating and getting irritable because I was super hungry. The food was not very appealing so we did not even end up eating any of it....the one star is for the bottomless mimosas. All in all 60 dollars per ticket is just outrageous...highway robbery at its finest. We had to go eat right after because every one was starving. But hey at least we didn't sink! read more

Awesome yacht! We had a summer party for the California Chiropractic Association, San Diego District and had an amazing time. More than 100 doctors along with family and friends enjoyed tour in the San Diego harbor and couldn't have asked for more. We hosted my husband's surprise 40th Birthday party on Cher Amie and it was a wonderful experience. The owner really sets Cher Amie apart. He did everything in his power to ensure our event was perfect. For example: When I first visited the boat, I observed that the windows at the top looked a little funny. I was completely blown away to find that they had been replaced with beautiful new windows for our event!!! He was always available for answering questions and enabling our DJ/dancers/caterer to visit the boat ahead of time. We had 40 people and the dinner tables were arranged perfectly - not overcrowded, but also not too empty. We had plenty of room for a DJ and dancing. I have the impression that the boat would work well for a wide range of party sizes. We had originally booked the boat for 4 hours, but the party was still going strong. Once again, the owner was very kind and let us keep the boat a bit longer. Overall, we had a great experience and would choose the Cher Amie again for any future events. This event was publicized as top hits music played, 2 decks which includes a dance Floor, Bar, Lounge and plenty of viewing areas. Music was played out a speaker on the front of the boat which was intermittent at best. Only one bartender for the entire boat. Waited half hour for a drink and never got one. Hardly ANY seating. There is a small rim around the front edge of the boat (not yacht) which if you were lucky you were able to grab a small edge and sit. NO OTHER SEATING inside or out. We were not allowed on the upper deck - we were told that was VIP only however that is not how it was advertised. Never saw anything that resembled a dance floor. Asked if we could bring appetizers or food on and were told absolutely not. They said they would be opening the kitchen and offering food. We got on the boat around 7 and off at 11 and guess what - no kitchen on board. They offered Domino's pizza at $5 per slice and a bag of chips for $2. I would NOT recommend this yacht to ANYONE - falsely advertised! read more

We literally had the time of our lives and they let us party pretty hard without any complaints. We catered food, we had unlimited alcohol and the ride was smooth and effortless all throughout.
