We stayed with Boat BNB twice, and both times for a week. First time on General Yacht and recently on Goode Karma. I will add some pictures below. My bestie and I love to be on a water and living in hot Vegas it's really dreamy to us. Both boats were about 52 ft, 3 BD, 2BTH. Both decks have the most amazing views. Shaun is such pleasure to work with! Overall, super friendly staff, very clean, fantastic location with yummy restaurants around. Looking forward to rent it again. Thank you, BOATBNB!

This gem of a find fulfilled my fantasy of staying on a luxury sailboat with my beautiful wife (alas without bikini) overnight. Best $250 I ever spent. Get a look at the view from the back bedroom rear porthole windows!! I love the look of varnished wood throughout, and the layout inside was hugh. I would buy this in a heartbeat if God granted me the money to do so. Did you know Hollywood used the Slipaway in a full length movie?

What an absolutely awesome idea. It is quite affordable and do different and better feeling than staying at a hotel. And the discounts at all the restaurants and awesome. Bali Hai is an institution, and it's just a short walk away. Can't beat the view. Never ever will I stay in a traditional hotel room, when I can stay on a beautiful boat. Everything was super clean. We had fruit basket, oatmeal, yogurts, freshly squeezed orange juice. A+

Very pleasant stay on a shipshape vessel. Beds were comfortable, breakfast was plentiful and fresh, and Shaun our host was delightful.

The bed was very comfortable and had us sleeping like a baby. There's a $50/night refundable fee to protect damages along with a $20/day parking pass if you don't want to park side street. There's a restaurant/bar (closed Mon&Tues) and a heated pool that has a screen above as if it can play movies. Didn't get the chance to try either during my stay but I bet it's nice. Front desk is very polite and very welcoming, had the chance to speak to Kenneth and Julanni? Definitely would love to come back.

We were not aware that parking is not included and were somewhat brusquely told that the parking we'd thought was available in front (and had temporarily parked in) was only for guests who'd reserved it, but there was parking behind a medical building next door (which was covered in tow away signs that made us nervous, but I digress). Unfortunately, that lot was completely full and led us to parking several blocks away from the hotel. The room we had was a mini pearl, which looked fine to us. We knew it would be small (which it was) and were A-okay with that. However, the room had robes in it with holes in them, the toilet paper holder was detached from the wall, and the bathroom door (a pocket door) was so poorly installed that it squealed horribly each time it opened and closed and got stuck closed (I had a terrible moment where after showering I was stuck in the bathroom for two minutes before my friend got the door open from the outside, as did she the next morning!). On top of the poor details inside the room, the window and outer wall to the bar/pool area were so thin we could hear each conversation outside. This led to the issue of the noise. We knew the restaurant would be open until 10pm, but the noise was extremely loud from our room (we got into bed at 10 but were obviously unable to sleep then). Only at 10:30 did it become quiet and we could go to bed. The bed was quite comfortable, no complaints there. Overall, I would not recommend the Pearl based on this experience. The staff was not very welcoming and the accommodations left a lot to be desired. The bar/pool area were very beautiful (and the food smelled fantastic, though we didn't eat there) and the location was great, but it seemed more like a hotel to attend happy hour at than to sleep at.

We had access to the entire first floor of a beautifully decorated historical home that will be 100 years old next year. The Mission Hills neighborhood was close to everything we wanted and needed -- shopping, parks, dining, beaches. But I must say my favorite part was chatting with Joan Crone during breakfast. A fascinating woman with an artist's love for all things simple and beautiful. Her art pieces on "plenty" and "small" challenged me to examine my definition of happiness. Was not expecting a spiritual connection on the trip, but happy to have found it. Thank you Joan.

Shaded by a sprawling pepper tree and sheltered by ranks of ferns, it is an oasis, complete with a porch swing and meditation garden, in an already quiet neighborhood. The Mission Hills business district is an easy ten-minute walk away, along streets with more nicely kept-up bungalows. From there, you can easily bus to Balboa Park and the Zoo in a half-hour or - with Joan's guidance - make a fun sightseeing trek down the hillside to the trolley and on the downtown and the harbor. At the end of the day, there are a number of very satisfying restaurants where you can relax and eat well before the peaceful walk home. Joan was very respectful of our privacy and our touristic initiatives. We, on the other hand, started conversations over breakfast that we would only reluctantly break off to make our way to the day's objective. Whether it involved geographical points of interest as a long-time San Diego resident, the arts and photography -- her area of training, Craftsman architecture and design or recent books we've read, there was never a dull moment. She encouraged us to look over books from her extensive library, including the charming "Little Free Library" built in the image of the Cottage and located right outside. We wholeheartedly recommend Crone's Cobblestone Cottage as a place to stay while visiting San Diego!

It was a one-bedroom suite. The living room area was quite large. It had a pull-out couch and was very roomy. The bedroom was equally large with a king bed. The bathroom was very large as well. I was very impressed with the size of the TVs. There was on in each room and they were at least 65". Our friends very much like the accessibility the room offered. Plenty of room for maneuvering around. Both rooms featured large sliding glass doors that opened up to a very large patio with a fabulous view of the marina and the boats. The patio had two cushioned reclining lounge chairs and an outdoor dinette with four cushioned chairs. Eight of us plus two small dogs were visiting out on the patio and there was plenty of room. Situated on the ground floor, the room was steps from the pool and close to the main office. We've stayed at the Island Palms once before for a staycation and loved it. It is our friends go-to hotel when they come to San Diego, which they do quite often.

However, we found a roach in our hotel room, which was very disappointing and significantly impacted our stay. We attempted to bring it to the attention of the front desk, but the line was extremely long, and we were unable to speak with staff at the time. We did not try the food, so I can't comment on that. While there were some enjoyable amenities, the cleanliness issue would make me hesitant to stay here again.

After staying downtown all weekend, I wanted a more quiet and calm spot for my last night in SD. I booked through Priceline and prepaid my stay for the night at $41 in an all female 6-bed dorm. Mark greeted me upon my arrival early Sunday evening. He was kind, professional and informative. We actually are both from the same home state, coincidentally. After checking me in, he gave me a tour. . The place is huge and very clean. Very much donned in a surfer bohemian aesthetic. They have surfboards for rent, but extra towels, blankets and yoga mats are free to use at will. There's a tv room that leads to the courtyard/lounge and kitchen areas. Plenty of seating either on small tables, benches or the patio couches. There's also a hammock, a front porch with swing chairs, a bar, & vending machines. A couple of clear door fridges are in the lounge area and duplicate in the kitchen. There are top left shelves designated to abandoned foods that are up for grabs. The kitchen is like an island surrounded by the lounge, courtyard and downstairs dorm hall. This arrangement allows the kitchen to remain open 24 hours as the dorm hall side is closed off with a sliding door. Most hostels close their kitchen at night to not disturb other guests, but this is most convenient. They also offer free tea accesible 24 hours and free breakfast from 7am-9am. . There are several single occupancy restrooms and two communal ones designated for men and women. My room was tight quarters, but overall functional. There's a nook with an overhead light next to the bed and adjacent to an outlet. The room has a big window which my fellow roomies did the right thing and opened it wide. The room also has a mirror vanity and sink which was helpful if I didn't want to go out to the hall to use the restroom. The sheets were clean, smelled phreshly washed and the blanket was thick and warm. . It's also not far from downtown. I commuted there via the trolley and the bus which took about 45 minutes. You can cheat the system and take an Uber part of the way to or from Old Town (the bus leg of the trip). I would definitely stay here again and hope to have more time in Ocean Beach. There are many restaurants, cafes and shops nearby and literally steps from the water. If you need quality accommodations, in a great location on a budget, Samesun will get the job done! . Sidenote: There are only stairs inside and outside of the building.

Then I went back and got work done in the common area while eating dinner. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. Yeah, I was in the top bunk of a tiny bed. With 6 other girls. But they were super respectful. It was quiet. Charging plugs attached to the bed. For what you pay, it's so worth it. Hostels aren't for everyone I'm sure, but I had such a wonderful experience.
