Had a blast again fishing the dolphin boat on their 1/2 day trip. Caught 12 fish total and great size. 4 sculpin, 3 bass, and 5 red rock fish. The staff at checking in was helpful. Fished the Pegasus, one of the first trips back after their big fire. RULES FOR THEE ARE NOT FOR ME. 1). This year's fire safety: Passenger (at least one) smoking on board while we fueled up. 2). Trolling, no one minding them so I take one. The other one goes off. While I reel mine in, the other guy says his is only "kelp" and tells the deckhand to reel it in. I look, 80% out on a TLD 20. The deckhand tells me to reel it in. I tell him I need surgery on my right shoulder (SLAP Tear, painful). I do reel in. 50-60 BFT on it. "That is my fish" the guy who refused to reel the "kelp" in says. I say no, I reeled it in after he gave it up. Pegasus Captain Alec awards the fish to the other guy. Mr. "Kelp" Guy: "My brother is the Captain of the Royal Polaris." Will not be fishing this boat again. read more

Went on my first multi-day fishing trip on the Pacific Queen in April 2025. My BF worked on this boat in his younger years and was very familiar with everything. I normally don't get seasick, but the water was extremely rough, so sure enough, my tummy wasn't doing too well. I went down to my bunk to take a nap but that didn't help much. Luckily, I had a ziploc bag cuz I needed it. My BF came down to check on me and offered me a dramamine. Somehow, it made it worse cuz within 10 minutes of taking it, I needed the ziploc bag again. After about 1-2 hours, I felt better. Definitely not in the mood to put something in my tummy. I did have a plain tortilla tho. That helped. I happened to be the only woman on the boat, so figuring out which number I was when ordering a drink or snack was easy. They took really good care of me :) Whenever the boat engine either slowed down ot stopped, everyone hurried to get up and run to grab their fishing rods to drop it down in hopes to catch the big one. When their wasn't much action, the captain would tell eveyone to reel things back up. Next stop. Same thing... engine slows or stops and everyone runs to grab their fishing gear. Then you'll hear "BITER!!" "FIGHTER" etc and you see them all either on port side or starboard side and walking their line. It was neat when someone catches a blue fin tuna and how massive they can be! Day 2 of the trip, the crew hooked a tuna and had me reel it in. It was great! I'm reeling it in and trying to be sure not to let go while they get the gaff and hook the sucker. About 60#!! Then the guys on the boat asks me if I want a fish (to reel in) I said that I already have one. They yelled out that I already have one and whether or not I wanted another one. LOL Turned out it was my BF who caught one and thought maybe I would wanna reel it in. I told him to go for it. It was about 50# or so. We were happy that we were able to go home with some fishies. The Captain, Crew and folks on the boat were very friendly and very helpful. We will definitely be back. read more

As we walked the pier, an artist was preparing a dry tuna for his Gyotaku art. Gyotaku involves painting an entire fish and taking the print of it on a piece of cloth. Once the fish is painted the sheet is carefully laid on top on the fish. One the cloth is flat the artist begins at the mouth and carefully rubs the paint onto the cloth leaving its print. This is repeated with different colors until you get an image similar to the attached photograph. read more

Good Stuff. I'm with the Marina Del Rey Anglers fishing club in Los Angeles. We used Fisherman's Landing to book the Tomahawk and Capt. David Ibrahim did great work to get us on fish after a hard few days of picking at the BFT. That last stop on the Yellowfin made the weekend a success for most of the club members. 5 stars there. Again, thank you to the landing for working with us. MDRA is looking forward to 2024's charter. ( We've been on the Tomahawk several years running now.) Oh and the Landing Tackle Shop... Those men need a shout out too. The knowledgeable men to fill that last bit for your tackle box is great. AND in my case to fix my big reel with easy and calm and skilled hands. Made it look so easy. 5 stars there. And the Charter guys Worked with us on Booking. No-one was happy to have to reschedule when that tropical storm Hillary rolled up the coast and it would have cut our original 2 & 1/2 day in half or worse. Our boat broke when we went to launch and it almost ruined our day! We looked up charters and found a half day PM and decided to take it. Little did I know they offered kids free on Sunday! Which was a huge bonus. The dolphin crew was amazing. Super helpful and friendly. They were a blast. A few days later we decided to book them again, this time for a full day In hopes of getting some tuna and mahi. The day started off slow but the captain made sure we found the right spot. The Liberty crew was nothing short of amazing. We had my 11 year old daughter (only kid on the boat) and they took the best care of her. It was such an awesome experience. Not to impressed with the boat tradition, went on a overnight and drove to the grounds like usual, fished hard but at the end we past a couple of boils and the day wasn't to fishy but the captain just drove right past the foamers, pretty disappointing to see after only catching 3 fish for 18 people, would think any chance even on the way in wouldn't hurt to throw a couple baits on. read more

1.000 stars. We mistakenly parked our boat at this business's dock after getting the go ahead from a nearby restaurant to park here. We thought this was a public dock but it was not. When we got back to the dock gate, it was locked, and four men that work in this establishment were laughing at us and told us that we would have to get the police involved to get us back on our boat instead of just letting us on the dock. Apparently the employees at this outfit were concerned that we were illegals, which was pretty racist of them. The police came and determined that we were legal and that the whole thing was a big waste of time. Totally do not recommend. Not nice people. read more

The captain and crew have the experience to find, catch, and store the fish properly ensuring your hard earned money is well spent. The bunks are clean and don't smell like an old sock as other boats seem to be. My fishing club and I joined the Liberty on a one day trip to Coronado island. Top rating for just about everyone we encountered at Fisherman's Landing! Booking online proved to be difficult while traveling so we had to do it over the phone. Guy made it super simple (except he forgot to email us a confirmation) and we were done within moments. Arrival on Monday morning, bright and early and the guy doing the licenses and rental poles was fast and efficient. Got on the Dolphin after reading and signing a COVID-19 release form and found a spot to sit up top. It wasn't long before Captain Jason had us out and on top of a school of rockfish. He did an excellent job of finding the fish, moving us and keeping things going on our little half-day excursion. Deckhand Tim was friendly and smiling while deckhand Dalton was more....um....crotchety. He was still helpful but his facial expressions at various times during the trip told volumes. The galley guy (can't remember his name!) was nice and cooked up a couple of mean sandwiches for us. Unfortunately, the beer selection was very limited despite there being a variety displayed behind the front glass of the galley. After his 1st two choices were shot down, I got my husband to drink one of my Mexican beers with me and he was just fine. LOL We caught SO many fish in our little 1/2 day trip and had them cleaned, filleted and bagged up for our drive back to Tucson. I've been on a number of fishing excursions - full & half day - and I can say this was one of the best half days I've had in a really long time. I would recommend a day of fishing on the Dolphin to anyone! And you know what they say, "a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work." Luckily for us - it was a GREAT day of fishing. Enjoyed a day trip with the company for team building. The three man crew worked efficiently and were very friendly. They gave a quick tutorial on how to fish in the event that you get something pulling on your fishing rod. Unfortunately, for a group of 30+, we only caught a total of 5 fish for a day trip of 12 hours. Nothing is ever guaranteed. With not much action on deck, there was tons of time for beer and food. The galley was pumping meals out and drinks like there was no tomorrow. Modelo, Tecate and the Dolphin Burger as well as nachos were on point. Tim, Tommy and I forgot the other crew member's name made the trip fun. The calm ocean and Mexican Sun made it feel like we were on vacation. I highly recommend Fisherman's Landing for any company team building. Be back soon. read more

Used to be great but I've had 2 very disappointing trips recently. The half AM trip is stated to be from 630am-1230pm but both times we've been docked by 1205, losing almost 30 MIN of fishing time because they "had a PM trip to get to." This may not seem like a long time but it is significant considering that after loading bait and getting out to the kelps doesn't get you started fishing until 815 and it takes an hour to get back (say at least 3 hrs of the trip), you could have caught several fish in that 30min lost window. We went with full boats both times and had to wait several min each catch for a deck hand to help unhook fish (more lost time). Bring your own pliers (or hire more people for full days?)! Did a full day on the Liberty in May with no experience fishing besides dropping a line a few times as a kid. As a female, I was also intimidated, doubting my strength level to reel anything in. :) I tried to study up beforehand but all of that knowledge was useless as Ryan and the crew showed me exactly what needed to be done. I snagged 5 Bonito's over the course of a full day. My weak little arms were jelly. 36 anglers were overwhelming to follow my line around but total catches were 120 bonito. Everyone did well, helped each other, and we even marveled at some whales nearby. The Liberty crew put in so much work throughout the day, it was fascinating to watch. Even the chef jumped in to help me bring in my last couple of fish when it turned into a fish party (thank you!). Such a great crew. Grateful for the knowledge and openness of everyone onboard. I showed up to check in and it had been cancelled. No call to let me know. Anybody reading this knows what it takes to get ready for these trips including the excitement. Unprofessional. Fisherman's Landing had a solid 3 star for a long time, but the Dolphin has brought it up to a 4 but will dragged down to 3.5 because of other boats. If it was a stand alone review for Dolphin, the rating would probably be up to 4.5 stars. Here's another plot twist, people have never been fishing before and want to try it out! And the Dolphin boat is very noob friendly. There were about 70 people on our boat and about 8 of them were having a bad case of sea sickness, their trip consisted of being on the boat and sleeping with nausea the whole time. If you decide to go fishing, take some Dramamine with you! As a matter of fact, take it the day before so it's already in your system. Then take it an hour before you actually set off. I know someone who took it while we were already in sea and it made his sea sickness worse. To me the prime spot to fish is in the back of the boat and far away from your boat as well. You'll have dolphins and especially seals obsessed with trying to eat your catch. So the smartest thing to do with cast that line far to get it away from the boat and other fisherman's then reel that sucker in before the seal can get it, and when you do pull it up, watch those seals weep lol. So after you're done and on your way back to shore, the crew can gut or filet the fish you caught for a price. We just have them gut it, filet is ez pz after you watch a few youtube videos. Great time fishing for a day. Be prepared that you might not catch fish though. On our boat some caught 4 and others caught nothing - just depends on luck (and some skill). For example, I caught one, but my stepdad didn't. One HUGE minus is that wearing masks doesn't seem to be really enforced... I wish that could be changed! read more

Pacific Queen To whom it may concern, Unfortunately I had to try this ( not my choice) boat one last time. First off, everyone knows this boat catches fish. However, for the 3rd time very disappointed with the deck hands. They didn't jump in to help anybody with tangles on a over crowded boat. Deck hands were hard to find. The girl is sweet and helpful but looked like she was the one doing everything. Don't try and joke around with the chef, has a very shitty attitude, very lazy, closes early to be out fishing with the paying customer. Yes be ready to pay extra for gas, looks like everyone is pulling that same bullshit. I asked how much to filet the tuna and they said " we charge half the fishes weight", funny I didn't see them weighting anything during the filleting process. My buddy ask for his fish to be kept whole and it was filleted and charged something ridiculous. It's not posted on the website. So bring your wallet and be ready for a cluster fuck of lines, where people are yelling at each other. Not good for kids. Just my opinion. San Diego has a ton of boats and they all catch fish so choose one what's best for you. This crew is tired or they don't care cuz people will pay anyway. Fisherman's landing's store is amazing though I have to be honest. Extras: Fish filleting $0.50 per pound, parking is a shit show as always, but now they close up a large area with yellow tape, so good luck, get there super early. Parking is $12 dollars a night. Not sure why some of these guys are in the business of chartering 50 inexperienced people. They're not friendly or welcoming. It honestly felt like we were intruding on their day. The cook was rude as ever barking at people in line. Honestly- maybe someone could help him out or make announcements for him that he can only take so many orders at a time. The job market is hot- if you don't like what you do, get a new one. We were returning our rod in exchange for our credit card and the guy had given our card to someone else who left. I guess he didn't think some people could have the same last name? Spent a shit ton of money to feel unwelcome and have our credit card handed to someone else. Great fishing experience for beginning to experienced fishermen/fisherwomen. Went afternoon fishing on the Dolphin with 52 people from an older crowd to younger children. The boat was big enough to fit everyone comfortably and for everyone to have a fishing spot around the boat. It had two bathrooms and a galley for food, drinks and snacks. The crew was really knowledgeable and so helpful in guiding people to set up their poles. They provided all the bait and also had weights and hooks to buy if you ran out or lost it during fishing. Everyone who was fishing caught something. If you were having trouble catching something a crew member would help you catch something. The crew would bag all your fish together and at the end there was an option to gut or fillet the fish. I would definitely recommend this service for anyone wanting to try deep sea fishing. There's a high chance you'll have a great chance and catch something you'll be able to take home and eat! read more

My husband and I booked an overnight trip w/ Mustang and had an absolute blast!! One of the best charters I've been on. The captain was very informative and gave everyone his best tricks and tips. The crew members were the cherry on top, they were always on guard helping everyone to make sure we don't get tangled up and made sure we landed our catch! I would definitely be rebooking in the future. Last note... This place is right on the water. The tackle available is mostly geared towards saltwater and the bay appropriately. Rods, reels, hardware, and protective clothing can be purchased here. The guys in here greeted me almost as soon as I walked in the door. I wasn't there to purchase anything but was looking to know more about the local fishing scene, and they were very helpful. I picked up a few plastic swim baits and some hooks. They gave me a good link to a boat rental service I used the next day and some places to try for shore fishing all around the SD bay. read more

They are inconsiderate of the residents who live in the area, Islander plays loud music at all hours. The boats pollute the night sky with their lights. The have been reported to numerous agencies. They have been warned by those agencies and yet, they continue to pollute our harbor with their fish waste, garbage and diesel fuel. If you have a choice, please choose another fishing charter group instead of boats. THESE GUYS ARE ENVIRONMENTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE. read more

Five star rating for the Tomahawk. Even in unfavorable conditions we pulled through with the win. Every crew member was in the right place at the right time every time and extremely helpful. Food was great, people were cool, excellent vibes and when it came time to get after it was like a well oiled machine. I brought a friend brand new to fishing for the first time and he killed it. Class act of experience and young professionals. Takes an awesome captain and a few great leaders to motivate the crew and anglers on board when things get rough. A little patience and when the fourth quarter came with a few minutes left the decks got bloody with limits of BF...so thank you gentlemen I take my hat of to your crew and look forward to booking again!!! read more
