An old school jewelry and clock repair shop. Jeffrey sells his own pieces, which are quite original and sweet, as well as very nice watches. My Optometrist sent me there. I had broken a hinge on a new pair of glasses and she couldn't repair them. He soldered the hinge together in a few minutes and saved me ,$500. He didn't want to charge me, but I gave him a few $. I saw several pieces in gold and silver that my sweetie would like. She is fond of cats, butterflies, sea stars and dragonflies. There was also a nice pair of simple ruby earrings. I've been a customer of this business for many years, back when it was still owned by the Chernoff family. They've always had great customer service and a beautiful selection of jewelry. Jeff , the present owner, has always been accommodating and helpful, but I was inspired to write this over an incident I witnessed last week. Jeff was waiting on an elderly gentleman who was having an issue with his watch. Jeff was extremely patient, and rather than try to sell him a new watch, Jeff told him he didn't need a new watch, just a new band, the brand of which he didn't have. Rather than send him on his way, he searched through his pile of old bands, found one that fit, put it on and refused to take any money for it. The older gentleman was so pleased, and I was touched by his act of kindness. I encourage anyone interested in jewelry to patronize this business. read more

We had an amazing experience with the owner. Sometimes you just step into a business and find out how passionate people can be about their craft. We went there just to shorten the watch I just got my fiancée for her birthday.... Jaeger lecoutre Reverso... not a easy watch to deal with, but he took his time find out how to remove the links (Swiss like to make think extra complicated and a time piece like a jaeger I was honestly expecting him to tell to go where I bought it...) We were there for a good 15 minutes, he adjusted multiple time, trying on my fiancée wrist to make sure she was ok with the setting keeping the watch balance... Joking with people that was waiting in the store, super friendly and welcoming...and he charged us $0.... Like seriously Fort Bragg is very lucky to have someone like that! Speedy service, highest quality work and fair prices! I had my father's watch repaired and in addition to fixing the spring, Jeff filled in some areas where the gold had worn, making the watch look as nice as it did when purchased 70 + years ago! This watch means a lot to me and I am 100% happy with the work performed. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this place and especially the owner. I met him during the summer and told him about a ring of mine that needed sizing. I told him that I would be back in November and would leave it with him to size. In November we showed up and sure enough he inspected it , cleaned and sized it. Wow. I can not say enough about how wonderful this jeweler is. Around Sept 2017 my fiance took me on a much needed babymoon to glass beach. Being six months pregnant with a 4 year old and working full time as well as attending school and he could clearly see I needed a weekend away. That being said we make a modest salary between the two of us. On this trip to glass we visited the beach of course and walked around all the little shops. Being pregnant I was making frequent trips to the restroom. On one of these many trips, Justin had stumbled upon Chernoff Jewelers. When I had come out of the restroom we continued looking in all the little shops and while the sun was setting he gave me this wonderful sweet little pair of Opal earrings. he was so proud of them and they were perfect for me. Fast forward to the next month, we lived in Santa Rosa in Coffey Park. Our home was burned to the ground in the fire and I lost my job as well. As you can imagine, this was a devastating blow to our little family. One of the first things Justin asked was if I had time to grab my earrings. I didnt. I called the jeweler(jeffrey) hoping that I could purchase a replacement pair and surprise Justin. When I spoke to him and asked how I could repurchase them he proceeded to tell me that he would send me a replacement-no charge. I can not express the amount of love and gratitude I have towards this man and his kindness that he has shown me and my family. I went to Chernoff's Jewelers to get my wedding ring re-sized for my upcoming wedding and encountered the a rude condescending unprofessional jerk who I presume was the owner. All he needed to say was that he could not do the work instead he talked down to me and my fiance laughing while telling us there was no way to re-size it without it bending like tinfoil (which I knew was total BS) so I asked him what he would do if my brand new $1700 ring was his and he said he would "red tag it" I realized at that point he was just another crooked jeweler trying to get me to buy his crappy jewelry or that he just had no skills to perform the work he claims to be able to do. In any case there is no excuse to treat a paying customer they way he did so I decided to yelp for the first time about my awful experience at this joke of a jewelry shop. I would not go back to this store if he was giving his crappy overpriced jewelry away free. Also worth noting I drove to Mendocino and found a very courteous and professional jeweler (whom I will Yelp about in another post) who not only said he would be happy to re-size my ring but that he would have it ready for me the next day. I will not mention that jewelers name here in this post as I would not want to associate them with Chernoff's Jewelers. In my opinion the jeweler at Chernoff's is a jerk who isn't man enough to just say a job is beyond his abilities but would rather insult you by basically telling you your brand new $1700 wedding ring is only worth something as scrap. Also worth noting I bought my ring from a reputable jeweler out of town and would have re-sized it there but couldn't do to time constraints. Chernoff's Jewelers should change their name to Jerk Off Jewelers. Absolutely the worst jeweler in Fort Bragg and the whole of Mendocino County. Look to the town of Mendocino for a real jeweler who has good customer service as well. read more

This guy is great. In the years we have been using his service he has cleaned clocks for us, he constantly repaired watch bracelets that I broke when I was working construction. He also cleaned and repaired an old watch that was 50 years old I received on my 21st birthday and it works fine now. Pity those old watches quit if you don't wind them up, but this watch is very special to me. He also changes batteries without any complaint and he can't be making much on a battery.
