It doesn't appear the owners ever respond to reviews so I doubt they'll ever acknowledge this, but anyways. This store had a used Desert Eagle chambered in .44 magnum for sale for $1,399. I asked to look at the gun and noticed that it was written on the tags "comes w/ 2 extra mags". A brand new desert eagle of the same finish and caliber is only $200 more expensive so $1,399 isn't a spectacular deal or anything but given the magazines aren't carried in many local stores and are $50 a pop I figured $1,399 for 3 magazines (the gun comes factory with one magazine and the tag said 2 extra) was pretty good so I went ahead and put it on layaway. (Their layaway policy is great here btw) I came back a little over a week later to pay off the gun and pick it up and once I've paid and gotten my paperwork done I see the guy that pulled it from the back is scrambling and looking around. He finally walks up, pulls the tag off the gun and just says "there you go". I say "hey, I know that tag mentions two extra magazines. If it doesn't have them can you take $20 per magazine off so I can go buy a couple of new ones". To which he responded "nope, I thought it had another magazine but it looks like someone snatched it and the gun is still priced accordingly". Ok? To buy two of those magazines I'm going to spend another $80-$100 that I previously wasn't planning on spending. I feel pretty displeased especially since this place offers less than 50% of what your gun is going to sell for when they buy it from you. So they definitely had the margins to cut $40 off the price for their mistake instead of trying to hide it then telling me it was still properly priced. I will likely still shop here but not with the sale level of trust I had before, and will likely check out other stores before coming here read more

Definitely good prices but these people are absolutely the RUDEST people I have ever met in a retail environment. You stand there for 30 mins and NO one ( not 1 of the 10 employees) will even speak. Once they finally make it to you it's almost like your interrupting their lunch break very rude and hasty. NO personality at all. Then to top it off a young teen girl is policing the parking lot with blue tape commanding that you stay 6 feet apart at all times. I was in the store several weeks ago and sold 2 rifles and 3 handguns. The transaction went well and the girl who waited in me was very helpful. I went in the next week to sell two more rifles (divorce is expensive) and the guy who waited on me refused to make an offer and then basically told me he didn't want my business. On top of that, he was very arrogant about it. I don't know his name but he refused to help me and then said they don't make offers so they don't insult their customers. so I threw out a very fair offer and he said "no."The week before there was no claim about not making offers and the girl who waited on me made an offer I accepted. So I guess the guy who waited on me the following week was either lying, incompetent, or just an asshole... I'm going with asshole. read more

If you got poor service or a rude person waiting on you, you need to look at yourself and see what you did. I've bought many weapons and completed FFL transfers with them. Went to pickup a transfer during covid and my spouse and I were the only ones wearing a mask. The guy who helped up understand the lines outside was very helpful, but he was the only one. The employees inside were very rude and off-putting almost like they wanted customers to be annoyed with the wait and leave. Once one of the 3 to 4 employees who were just roaming around decided to help it felt as though we were bothering them. Also has to be the slowest checkout process ever on earth like purposely. Almost as though nobody learned to use a computer although they have to use it to verify your info for anything related to a firearm sale. Lastly they upcharge you if they feel like it simply because they can. Establishment cannot make much money with the way they do business and honestly I hope they shut down. read more

Tip: For some reason Verizon cell phone signal just drops here. I think this must be a dead zone or something. Parking: Weekends, usually the lot is pretty crowded on their side. Not helping are those with "bro-trucks" I feel. But usually we haven't had any problem parking on the Napa side of the lot. Inside: With the busy weekends, this place can feel a bit cramped in this very small shop. Most of the shelves are dedicated to firearm related products and ammunition. There are a few things that might be pawn related items. But as soon as you walk in, I feel that they're primarily a gun shop first and pawn shop, way way way later. Selection: They usually have most kinds of ammunition calibers in stock, with various round counts. I've seen 50, 100, 250 rounds sometimes for popular handgun calibers such as 9mm and sometimes .40 caliber. 223 and 7.62 calibers vary. Some various types of shotgun slugs are also available. Ammo brands vary but usually Remington, Federal, and Winchesters are the norm. Some of the brands they carry are Glock, Springfield Armoury, Kimber, Ruger, Smith & Wesson, Sig Sauer, I believe I saw Spike Tactical one time, Taurus, Keltech just to name a few. They also have used guns but mostly just popular brands such as Glock and Springfield Armory; primarily handguns. My cousin even picked up a Mosin Nagant WW2 era rifle here and good condition for the low low. Pricing: Some prices might be average depending on the brand and/or model, such as in the case with the Springfield Armory XDM and XDS lineup. Other times, they are matching internet prices such as when I purchased a Ruger 10/22 takedown. Every gun show I attended wanted at least $340-50. Cherokee was selling it for $280 and an extra magazine. Ammunition is about average. Tip: I don't think they update their website much. And just saying it cause it's already there, this part of the woods doesn't always cater to say...other minorities. Though I have heard comments of bigotry from other customers, I applaud that each person working the counter has always treated me fairly and with respect. {Summary}: Cherokee Gun & Pawn is the type of local business I would recommend anyone that has time to drive the distance to check out their firearm and accessories selection. I'll make this simple with pros and cons, then a comment: Pros: Good selection for small shop Workers are knowledgeable Ammo is a fair price Cons: Bigger guy is a bit of a d-bag at times, moody like....you know. No haggling. Apparently the owner thinks he's hyper important. Close at odd hours, like this is someone's hobby. Basically, I bought several guns here, and a fairly expensive laser rig for a pistol (Stay away from Veridian Green Lights.) So, put gun in drawer with laser, unfired. Sits for a month, and when I show it off, laser sputters and stops. I take it back, and they send it back to company. I get new laser, same story. Month later, laser sputters. Gun is STILL UNFIRED. I take it back, they send it for repairs. I get it back a third time, same story. At this point, I say, "How about a refund, clearly at this point they have a quality problem." Now, keep in mind I spent 4 or 5 grand in about 2 months....Bigger guy (Let's call him...Dick) says, "Sorry, we've done all we can do. No refunds." Then just dismisses me. I press the issue, and Dick gives me some mumble, ignores me, and that's it. So, in summary: Don't expect service beyond "Allowing" you to shop there. They will answer a few questions to make a sale, but again, this place opens like it's a hobby for guys that couldn't get solid work elsewhere. If it were a gym, they'd be the lunkheads. On a pleasant note, a smaller gentleman made the effort to try and fix my problem every time. He wasn't condescending, nor did he think working at a country gun store made him important. Anyway, know what you want, go buy it, and leave. You'll be happy. Just don't buy accessories here because you're totally going to get treated like you have a virus if you take it back. read more

I have done business with these folks a couple of times. The first time was for an FFL transfer. The second time was for a purchase. In each case, they were professional and friendly. I will do business with them again. You might look at the place and compare it to some of the palaces built recently that are nominally gun stores. I asked myself - where am I more likely to get a better deal - the palace or Cherokee Gun. Math dictates that Cherokee Gun is the answer. As it turns out the answer is proven. I'd read good things about these guys on several forums - good prices, friendly service, etc... Well, it all turned out to be true. I drove up from Roswell to do a firearm transfer as they don't charge a fee. Most places are $20-50! It was well worth the drive. I'd pay more in gas than a local fee just to do business with a small company that truly believes in service and building its customer base! I was treated better at CGP when I was spending ZERO money than most places spending $$$$. They make you feel right at home. Because they were so nice I did buy some accessories, which were well priced I might add. I would have paid more, but it was sure nice not to! I'll make the drive back to these guys for sure. Went to this store on a Saturday, and it was packed like sardines. They have a decent inventory and their prices aren't too crazy. What was strange was that when we were there, the owner called and told them employees that they were to not let anyone else in and they were to just run the applications for gun purchases the next day and tell people to return. It was so strange that even the employees thought it was crazy. I watched as at least 30 or so people drove into the parking lot and were turned away at the door. When I left and drove to Hi-Caliber, all these people had simply went there. Why would you close at 4, and then turn people away? read more

I got a transfer here years ago and just recently went back for another, and bought some stuff while I was there. One thing that really sets this place apart from every other shop in Metro Atlanta is the free transfers. They have not charged a fee to do a firearm transfer for years (forever maybe), and I think that makes a very strong statement. I will happily drive 40 minutes and find some goods or ammo I can use while I'm there for this generous service. I arrived early on Saturday. It wasn't crowded but they were anticipating a surge later. This is a small shop, I would recommend getting here on a weekday if you can find a way, or early Saturday. For a small shop they seem to have an impressive variety of guns, new and used. The best thing is you will find stuff you won't find anywhere else in town. Not only that, they've got decent selection of accessories with decent prices too. Ammo prices seemed average, but they do have some surplus stuff. Their prices are good from what I saw. Used guns are definitely priced well. Happy to see a few surplus guns. The staff was attentive. They always checked to see if anyone needed help. It wasn't too busy when I was there, but I've been to many a crowded gun shop and you've got to have patience and civility. I see some people complaining, If you're going to complain, just do us all a favor and visit when it's not so busy, not Saturday at 1PM. read more

This is a gem of a gun store. Not the largest, but certainly one of the most friendly and economical. Was referred here by a friend and it has proven to be a place I will certainly give my business to. They've saved me money on magazines, loaders, ammunition, and firearms compared to other stores and even Internet pricing. Couldn't have been more impressed. Got referred here by some good friends. The place isn't located anywhere fancy however do not judge this book by its cover. Walk in and its guns-galore. I came in on an afternoon weekday and they were pretty busy. After a few minutes I got helped out by a nice employee who answered all my questions on a 12 GA H&R pump shotgun they had. Steal of a deal at $160 brand new. Bought a couple cases of shells and snagged a sweet laser + flashlight combo which he cut me a deal on. He even installed and aligned it for me while I waited despite the crowd. I walked out spending $220 bucks with a rocking new shotgun. Bottom line, the value was there, the service was there, and I got exactly what I wanted at a price I was more than happy with. I normally balk at crowded stores but for only waiting a few minutes, it was well worth it. I'll be back for more. read more

I've been coming here since August 2015 when I first moved to the canton area. Each time I've been in I have been shown courtesy and respect. Tim can answer nearly every question you may have about firearms and terry can tell you everything you need for an AR build. I've purchased several firearms from them and will continue to do so. I now live in Atlanta but will make the 45 min drive north if I get the itch. Not because the prices are great (which they are) but because I know I'll be treated well. They recently did the FFL transfer for two 1911s I bought online. I was in and out within 30 minutes and it was FREE! I picked up a few boxes of ammo to show my appreciation. Feel free to "shop around" if you'd like, but Cherokee has never failed to beat the pants off of any other price for firearms... especially new, popular guns that you can't find anywhere else (not to mention they're always in stock). In addition, these are the nicest people you will ever meet, and considering this is a pawn shop where guns are sold, you have to agree, they are one of a kind. Found out about them from shopping Aim for Lowers and they do free transfers. That is just the beginning. These guys are great. I have done several transfers with them and have had such a good experience that I always try to spend some money in thanks for the free transfers. Jimmy is very knowledgeable and has helped me with several questions about builds I'm doing. I used to shop the huge store on South Cobb drive but they have lost there way and forgotten about customer service.
