I went to get fitted for my first bow and it was an awesome experience. Coach Jose showed me 3 bows and gave me a mini lesson on how to shoot. I never felt pressured to buying anything - he was more focused on teaching me the fundamentals, understanding my goals in archery, and making sure I was having fun. You can tell he is a professional just by his calm and collected method of teaching. I highly recommend calling in for a fitting if you're looking to get a compound bow for the first time. This man is a ranked as one of the top shooters in the world and it shows. I also booked a one hour private lesson with him. Not only was he able to fix my form, he also sighted in my top pin during the lesson. By the end of it I was shooting bullseyes. For 60$ I felt like it was a really good deal. read more

Last time I was here was to look for 9 mm rounds with my buddy. We had a bitch of a time getting our hands on them due to the corona virus. Once he ordered the bullets we swing by to pick them up. As he was tending to his business walked around a bit and noticed they added the axe throwing stalls. As soon as we could my daughter and I came back and went through a small quick training and how to play games. We were off to having fun for the hour. 20 dollars an hour isn't too bad because we played at least 12 games. The shop is pretty clean and staff very friendly. I had some questions about a pistol I looked at last time I was here. He was very helpful but I would prefer the other gentleman because he was spot on. Nothing against the guy but this one... if I could remember his name!!! Anyhow I've grown to like this place and I haven't even been to Hi-Caliber yet. Lol read more

We went to Big Woods Goods on an unconventional 41st anniversary date with dinner after! We visited their indoor archery range which was excellent, especially appreciated in the very hot/humid weather. Coach Jose gave us a quick and very much appreciated review about how to use the range safely... plus, given our anniversary, some gratis tips and basic coaching about how to use our bows and arrows most effectively. We did 10 rounds at 10 yards, then another 10 rounds at 20 yards and had a blast! During the week is best when traffic is pretty low. Weekends are quite busy. read more

We stumble upon this place when we were driving home one day. Saw the large sign they have out front and decided to check out their website. They have both archery and gun ranges, we decided to go with archery. We started with their archery orientation class which was $25 for 1.5hours. The instructor taught form and rules of the indoor archery space. We then decided that it was so much fun, so we went back for the beginner's class to be given a bit more further instructions and to shoot for points. Some people in the class were shooting for the pins, but we shoot for fun. The front desk check in personnel is always nice and helpful, the instructor for the archery class is patient and explains things to the students in a way that it's easier to understand. I wish that they have more recurve bows in the store for us to try so we can decide on a bow to purchase. They do have a huge variety of compound bows which I'm not a fan of. I have also purchased a membership to the range. $180 for the year with unlimited use of the archery range and equipment rentals and were also given 5 guest passes. The only downside to the equipment rental that they did not tell me ahead of time is that they don't rent out recurve bows, they only rent out compound bows. So for me that want to perfect the recurve bow, it's definitely a inconvenience, hence the reason I want to purchase my own, but they don't have but 3-4 recurves in the store for sale. Other than that, this place is great. read more

I attended a class for gun law and it was excellent! Also, all the staff was so welcoming and accommodating.

They have one of the most advanced target control systems I've seen so far in the Atlanta metro area (for example, friend/foe target rotation). Other lane niceties include a padded mat in each booth and a bag shelf on the back wall. The booths are opaque which can be a plus for some shooters (if you're the type that is distracted by your neighbor's muzzle flash) or a negative (if you'd like to know if unsafe handling is happening nearby). I didn't see as much acoustic dampening as some other ranges, but I didn't find it too loud (or maybe I'm acclimated due to frequent exposure). The range hosts IDPA, Low Light, and Bowling Pin matches. And a big plus is their feature-rich website which is very informative. The sales floor is quite large and they have a lot of inventory. I scanned the prices and didn't see anything outrageous, but I didn't do a real comparison so they may have some great deals there (e.g., on bulk ammo). They also have archery and hunting equipment. They provide a cafe-like area for watching the shooters on the range which is nice. Everything was clean and neat (which is to be expected for a new establishment). On the downside, their waiver is pretty extensive (4 pages), so allow a little extra time for that on your first visit. They are pretty heavy on the rules (e.g., 3 seconds required between each shot). And the staff were mildly friendly. All minor points, so if I lived in this part of town, it'd definitely would be my range of choice. read more

Can't say enough good things about Big Woods Goods. I was looking for an activity for myself, my parents and my children to do during the Christmas school vacation. Looking for something that none of us do regularly, we settled on archery. Nick and Coach Jose were incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, encouraging, patient and safety conscious. Everyone from my eighty-six year old father to my preteen girls had an amazing time. On our way out of the store we spent a some time looking at their extensive collection of firearms. The staff were very attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and spent ten minutes answering my mother's questions. My only complaint is that Big Woods Goods is not located closer to where I live. read more

Big Woods is among the nicest shooting ranges I've visited. I found it by mistake, searching for another range in the area. Big Woods is clean, well-lit, and safe. They have perhaps the most modern target control setup I've ever seen. Even though using tape to hang my target against a cardboard backing seemed weird at first, I immediately preferred it to using clips. Shooting noises from the lanes do not intrude on any other store business. PLUS, they do archery, too. Staff is courteous, seemed organized, and are keen on rules of safety (as they should be). And they're helpful. They have a huge inventory, and they'll happily show you around. Prices seemed reasonable, overall. I'll keep Big Woods on my to-go list if I'm ever searching for a range & supplies. read more

Great place if you're just learning archery. The location is in Canton, Ga, approximately an hour away from Perimeter Mall. Big Woods Goods offers a gun range as well, and for the most part very cheap. We were two people and for $20 each we received a bow, 6 arrows, a target, and no time limit. The space is huge for archery inside and out. The targets must be purchased, but come in varying sizes depending on your expertise. I believe we were there for almost two hours and had the indoor space from for ourselves for a good portion of the time. They offer a very quick verbal instruction, and then you are left alone for the entire time. I wish they would take out 10 minutes to show you how to use the equipment better and maybe instruct on position. We were very lucky to have an experience couple around to give us some pointers. Overall a great experience!! We will definitely be coming back for some more archery and to try their gun range. Don't be afraid of the drive!!! read more

Almost everyone at the store is very friendly. The staff will take the time to answer your questions and address your interests. The store recently was reorganized to much satisfaction. I went to go look at some accessories for my firearm and I had an employee by the name of Alex who "helped" me. When I had questions he was very rude and condescending, like if he was stalking to me if i where a stupid no nothing girl. When I went to speak with another employee, he kept giving me hateful/angry glares and made me very uncomfortable. I'm not sure if it was because I was a woman or he was in a bad mood or something. He spoke nicer and with more interest to the next customer who happened to be a man. Thankfully I was able to purchase what I needed by other very nice and knowledgeable employees! I have only had good positive experiences with this range until I met this employee. I never had such an awful experience anywhere If you do come it's a great place! Came in before lunch today, to plink off a few magazines on my new gun, I check out and head out to the truck. The cashier set my ID on the counter, did not hand it to me and did not notice that I never picked it up. I was in the parking lot reloading and checking emails for 5 to 10 minutes. I then drove down to Woodstock 15 minutes shopped for 20 minutes and realized I didn't have my ID when they carded me for a purchase. Drove back to Big woods spending $15 in gas round trip, and bringing this to the attention of what I assume to be the manager. The only thing she could do is shrug her shoulders and offered no apology, no resolution, and zero empathy. This is not the way you treat customers when you have four people in the range and five people on staff, when all it would have taken was a 20 second phone call. Awful awful awful and I will never come back here. It was the chick with the purple hair that needs to learn customer service. If they actually read their reviews, I invite you to go check your security footage to see that my ID was set down on the counter instead of being handed to me and how long I sat in the parking lot and when they found the id. All I asked for was a complimentary range time, not a refund so it's not like that would have been a hard decision to make for anybody. Hi-Caliber is literally next door, Go there instead. read more

New to the area and haven't really had a chance to shoot off my guns since moving down 5 months ago. Decided to give this place a "shot" since it was only a 15 minute drive from my house. Really easy to get to, not far off of 575. The young lady at the front was very helpful, and answered my questions since it was my first time there. Got there a little after opening on a Sunday and the wait was about 30 minutes for a lane. Didn't bother me much, since they had a beautiful showroom with firearms, ammo, clothes, and accessories for me to drool over while I waited. They also had a comfortable waiting area with free coffee. When my lane was ready, one of the young men came in to the range with me and thoroughly explained how to operate their target system. Clean, courteous, and professional. I will definitely be a repeat customer. read more

My favorite range within 25 miles of where I live. Range is large and accommodating and you can shoot a rifle or pistol on the same line. Firearm pricing is fair but ammo is a bit steep in comparison to where i can get it elsewhere. My biggest complaint recently is the ax throwing lanes they set up in the store. That's a fad right now and I predict it will be gone within 12-18 months. We lost a lot of retail space to put those in and I had purchased holsters, range bags, firearm bags, etc. that are now empty lanes full of axes. Maybe they use them at night as I go shooting during the day. Other that that, good folks there and I drive right past a competitor site to get to BWG. Also, skip another range in the opposite direction that is closer to where I live to go to BWG so I would say it's #1. read more

Hands down, this is one of the best ranges in the state of Georgia. The store is clean, organized and their state of the art gun range is comfortable and well controlled. They also have an indoor archery range,a full compliment of firearms and archery accessories, a full time gunsmith and offer classes for continuous training. They have everything you need for your shooting and if they don't have it in stock they will get it for you. I have purchased firearms, ammo and used their services for ATF transfers in the past. Their prices have always been highly competitive and the staff has always been professional, friendly and willing to help. In the year I have been using their services, they feel more like family than a local vendor. It's a tough time right now for the recreational shooter. Ammo and firearms are scarce and our second amendment rights are under attack. Boycott B whose unfair review appears on this page should know that and if he doesn't then he hasn't been paying attention. All gun stores in Georgia, including the one he mentioned as an alternative, are currently either out or are regulating sales of ammunition. Boycott B would be better served demanding answers from his Congressman and President rather than berating a positive community business whose only crime is trying to stay in business while under government attack. read more

One of the best indoor ranges in the Atlanta area. Unique with their friend / foe targeting systems and a rare indoor archery range. I've purchased firearms, ammo, and accessories from these folks and they are a pleasure to deal with. Prices are very reasonable and the store is spacious. The location is a bit interesting for those who have never been before. Head down a small road back into the woods and take a right at the dead end. Pass a couple steel structures and you are at Big Woods. Highly recommend! read more

These guys think they are doing you a favor by selling you a gun. Went in Friday and there were more employees then customers. I walked the gun counter and not a single employee asked me if I needed help, which include the owner, Bill. I went back to look at the one I was interested in and patiently waited for someone to help me. They could care less. And this is not an isolated incident. This happens more often than not. So I didn't buy Billy's $1250 CZ 75. Instead I called Cherokee Gun and Pawn and had them order one for me. Had to wait a couple days, but got the gun I wanted, saved over $100 and had the helpful folks at Cherokee Gun and Pawn to chat with. So that is my new plan, I will periodically stop in Big Woods and if there is something that interests me, I will get someone else to order it for me. read more

Disclaimer: I am city folk and know nothing about firearms, bows, etc. I found Big Woods Goods online while trying to find an indoor archery range. Like I said, I know nothing about any of this stuff, but I have a friend who had expressed a fondness for archery, and I wanted to surprise him for his birthday. After a preliminary phone call to vet it out, I decided this was the place to go. If you are renting a bow/arrows like we were, you might want to call ahead just to make sure everything is good to go. When we showed up, we had to wait a while, due to the fact that all their rental arrows had been stolen the night before. Not a dealbreaker, though. Plenty to look at while you're waiting (especially if you like guns and the like). We finally got some time in the archery range, and since it's basically a stay-as-long-as-you-like deal, you can really get your fill. We had a great time, and I was amazed at how little it ended up costing me. Shane/Shaun (can't remember which one?) was very helpful, and I'll be sure to come back here sometime when I'm ready to be reminded of how crappy my aim is. read more

By far, the best indoor range anywhere around. It's well lit, and I know they've put much more money in to the ventilation system compared to other ranges. Also, they have a great selection of rifles, handguns, shotguns on hand, and just about anything can be ordered from their website and picked up there.
