He teaches context and reasons for playing techniques instead of just following a textbook- this makes the learning applicable across many different situations. Josh (owner) is very friendly and no pressure for sales. He's helpful, knowledgeable, and likewise multi-instrumental. I began looking at mandolins and he gave great advice in selection. He was then able to quickly secure what I was looking for, gave a totally competitive price, plus his professional, luthier set-up on its arrival. So glad to have this service nearby! I appreciate too that both Joe and Josh (probably others) are active in playing gigs etc., so what you get at Donley's is coming from guys who are active in music. Thanks!

My son needed to pick up an acoustic guitar and the staff could not have been more helpful. They had a roomful of choices and expertise on each. Store manager Jon Bon insisted on restringing the floor model for him. He and Billy Darling have been on the staff for decades. Added a hard case and off we went. Great experiences like that you can't get online.

The selection in the store is good. But they have some big corporate issues. The phone system…read moregives an open message when the store is closed. Google hours are incorrect. There is no voice mail. Service phone often rings for 20 rings (gave up after then) and never is answered. The people in the store know about these problems, but the corporate office does nothing to fix it. The corporate call center went so far as to tell me they couldn't control the hours on Google. What? Again, less than stellar workers. Also, personnel is not properly trained. ie: I was told I could get a flute repair done in a week, then I found out it was a month...after I flew to the USA with my flute from another country. So, I bought a new flute. I asked the service department to check it over completely as I did not live in the USA and wanted to make sure there were no issues. Note this was a rather expensive silver flute. They gave it to me saying it was perfect. Well, it wasn't! The interior was filthy...used. The f# key leaks. I am flying back to the USA. It took me 12 phone calls including 2 useless calls to the call center before I could speak to someone. I was promised a call back from the call center in 40 minutes. Never called. Bottom line is, good selection, knowledgeable sales people, lousy service and not the brightest in the call center. I think some of the staff is good at some of the stores, but really, they need training.

Two days later I haven't heard back…read more Here's a rather snotty reply from the apparent owner on this exact subject: "Thank you for recognizing that we're extremely busy. I understand your position. We do the best we can balancing our time to actually do our work and respond to inquiries. I can't apologize for being successful, and hope you understand our situation." Apparently, answering customer inquiries is not "our work." As for the unforgivably high-handed "I can't apologize for being successful" I would say that if you're that "successful" you should be able to afford to hire someone to answer the phone and handle customer inquiries. Could you imagine leaving your guitar with them and then having to jump through hoops, if not show up in person, to find out if it's ready for pickup? Here are a couple of reviews reproduced here for your convenience: "this place is terrible, no communication with the customers, terrible interactions and no common sense! do not take your instruments here, find somewhere else to take your business. If I could leave 0 stars I definitely would!" "Don't go here if you value your time as they certainly won't. You can't just drop off a guitar during normal business hours, you have to make an appointment. No problem! I took the first available appointment (10:30am on a Friday) and notified my employer that I would have to pop out of the office that day to drop off my guitar. When I arrived the door was locked and lights were off. No problem! I'm 5 minutes early I'll just wait. When 10:35 rolled around, I decided to call their number. No answer but the voicemail system recommended I text them. So I left a voicemail and sent a text and then waited in my car. I waited until 10:50 for a response before I left. When I got back to my office, I received a very curt response that they had arrived at 10:45. No apology for no call/no show, not a single attempt to make it right. I'll enclose screenshots of that lovely conversation. I will take my business elsewhere." Needless to say, a word to the wise is sufficient.

I contacted NGHW for the first time recently about fitting new valves into my tuba--not only was Kevin's work *extremely* affordable and of a high quality, but I actually learned quite a bit in the process. My horn literally plays better than it did brand new, thanks to him. He was even kind enough to further tweak the repair a few weeks later, free of charge. I will be seeking the assistance of North Georgia Horn Works for all of my intensive brass repairs from this point forward!

When my wife asked for a refund for the remaining lessons we already paid for the owner refused. Also, they are more concerned with complaining about the government than giving lessons. Everytime I took my kids in for lessons I was there for atleast twice as long because they never would start on time. I finally decided to go to a more professional organization

No matter if you're just a beginner, intermediate, or advanced, he can teach at all levels, all ages, and all styles. There's always something to learn. He's able to not just teach you how to play songs, but also teach you to understand what you're playing and why you're playing the notes/chords within a composition.
