So glad we finally went in to look around. We got our son a guitar that was used. It sounded very odd whenever he played it . When we brought it in Aaron (spelling) took a look and explained to us that a part of the guitar was actually broken. Aaron helped my son pick out a new beginner guitar. I called Town Center Music once to discuss repairing a guitar pedal. They told me that they couldn't do it, but they gave me a referral to a place that can. The person who I spoke with was friendly enough to have a short conversation about how truly unlucky it is to have a Klon pedal die on you. I remember I got weird techno-babble and serious condescension from the Guitar Center employee at North Point when I asked the same question. I've since returned to Town Center Music to get a setup on my acoustic guitar and some strings. Note that, like ANY music shop out there, there's likely going to be a long turn-around time. It never hurts to ask if you need an "emergency setup," but do understand that, unless you are Cliff Burton back from the dead, you aren't special, and they're doing nothing wrong by turning you down. Selection of pedals is above average. Guitars and amp selection is roughly average. I didn't see anything that particularly interested me, but Town Center Music is on top of my list for any guitar-related needs. read more

Purchased a HOF (Hall of Fame) mini reverb pedal there today. Justin was very helpful and I got to check out some great guitars, amps, accessories and pedals (lots of pedals!) talked to John setting up and modding a guitar. They were actually teaching a guitar maintenance class (FREE) All in all everyone was nice, and worked at getting me a good deal on the pedal. The only negative thing was I didn't have enough time to stay longer ! Highly recommend them. read more

I stop by to get an emergency setup on my bass. I got there at opening, I walked in and asked if I could get a string change and adjustment before 11am. After they stopped laughing I was told they were 8 days backed logged. Meanwhile the staff was standing around drinking coffee. I bought some picks and left. I'm not sure what happened to customer service these days but it's not present at Towncenter Music, just over inflated egos and base model instruments. If they are not willing to help someone in need when they had the means to do so, that begs the question what is the rest of their service is like. Dustin at TCM is an amazing guitar tech! He was able to restore my 2016 LP Standard after another local shop virtually made my favorite guitar unplayable (really sloppy fret dress). Dustin was able to install new frets in less than 3 weeks - and at a VERY reasonable price. He did exactly what he said, and delivered on time. I've been buying pedals from these guys for nearly 10 years - but never thought to consider them for guitar repair or setup. That was my mistake. These guys are getting all of my business from now on. Great attention to detail - he remembers exactly how I like my neck and string height set, and even gives me my guitar backed tuned 1/2 step down. I can't really say enough good things about TCM and their crew. First off, their in-shop guitar tech and shop keeper John Michael did a refret on my favorite Fender Stratocaster, which was nothing short of flawless. Won't trust anyone else with my guitars ever again. Only him. I guess I'm spoiled. Despite always being hard at work fixing and setting up guitars in his luthier shop in the back, JM will always drop what he's doing and provide great product knowledge and recommendations based on your individual needs. Justin is also a really nice and knowledgeable guy. Great knowledge of their inventory and he seems to be the in house pedal guru. Very friendly and approachable. They have another guitar tech, who's name escapes me, but he is a great guy also. The owner, Aaron is also a really good guy. Takes time to interject his suggestions to customers despite what's sure to be a busy schedule as a shop owner. Also very approachable and knowledgeable. Their inventory is great. They carry Reverend and G&L guitars, along with several others, and an absolute endless selection of pedals. Good selections of amps and accessories as well. Strings, picks, basses, bass amps, you name it. Prices are competitive and to my knowledge they do price match though I've never asked for it. I can only suspect any negative reviews on here are from competitors or people who can't understand that a business like this is always busy because they're the best at what they do anywhere in the metro Atlanta area. Hands down. I've never had a bad experience and would recommend them to anyone who needs a great local shop. Made the 30 mile drive from Smyrna to this shop after hearing good things about Town Center. Immediately upon entering John was asking what I was in for and showed me around the shop. They have an excellent selection of guitars (Reverend and Yamaha mainly), great amps (Vox, a local builder called Acorn Amps, Yamaha and Blackstar), but what really shines is the pedal cabinet. These guys have all of the brands you see online but never get a chance to try. I'm talking Old Blood Noise Endeavors, Walrus Audio, Neunaber, Chase Bliss and Strymon. The staff was awesome and let me try out 100 things for about an hour, and were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly the whole time. I only left with a pack of strings, but due to my experience today I'll be back for my next large purchase. read more

I found the Town Center Music store after I moved to the area. I have to tell you that this spot has a really great feel to it. Call me strange but as a musician I really want to find a great spot that isnt too big (Guitar center) and not also not too small that it feels sketchy. They have a really great layout, everything is clean, (they have alot of assorted equipment) they have a wall setup for folks looking for other musicians ( Im buford looking for other people btw), they have a huge selection of pedals and they also are very helpful and very informative. They took care of me really great (Kevin in particular) and I hope I can help convince you to give these guys a look over as I did. Stopped in Saturday prepared to buy my son an upright bass. Didn't see any on display, but spent 10 minutes browsing the store waiting for an employee to offer help. While they weren't busy with any other customers and one employ continued dusting inventory feet from us no-one offered help or asked how we were doing. I don't like being hovered over, but simply acknowledging us could have potentially made a couple grand sale. We left. My reasoning, if that's the kind of customer service to expect, I'd prefer spend my money elsewhere. He also has a birthday coming up at which time I'm planning to purchase an acoustic guitar. I bought a G&L guitar at Town Center a few months ago. This is a nice music store! It isn't large, you won't find all the big name brands there but what the carry is quality. I could honestly say that I try to avoid going out in stores just in general nowadays because people really don't know how to communicate. But today my mind was changed. I felt at home as soon as I walked in. Great customer service. Great selection of gear. Bunch of hard-working honest guys that all share the same interests. MUSIC. One of the best things that brings people together. I came in Here about a month ago and picked up a les Paul traditional. And today I picked up two pedals with some accessories. Ii I have purchased strings several times. I recently asked for strings for a 12 string guitar. I bought 3pks and when I opened 1 pm I noticed if only was 6 strings. I opened the 2nd pack and it was the same. I called the store and they said that they would only exchange the unopened pk. Normally most customer friendly folks would accommodate a good customer. Used to come here all the time to get stuff for my kids band and orchestra stuff. BUT I bought the wrong Vandoren reeds, she needed 3 instead of 2half, wanted to exchange 6 reeds but they wouldn't said it was policy not to refund or exchange even if it was never opened. The guy was so dismissal said there was no difference in sound and she would be fine, if that were true why would they make different sizes.
