A girls trip to Stone Mountain, Georgia, had to include whitewater rafting on the Ocoee River and it had to be guided by Cherokee Rafting. My sister and I had did the whitewater rafting with Cherokee Rafting in September 2023 and had an absolute blast. Our guide Travis was lots of fun and so knowledgeable about the river that we had complete confidence in him. It was our first time ever whitewater rafting, and we were understandably nervous at first. However, after the first rapid, we knew Travis knew what he was doing and we followed his directions and had a blast! This trip we talked our two friends into doing this. Our guide this time was Aaron and again, another awesome guide! Our friends were nervous just like us during our first time, but Aaron knew the river so well, they just trusted him and had a great time along with the rest of us. If you're worried about being too old, our oldest member on our trip was 83-years-old, and she rocked it! I highly recommend Cherokee Rafting if you're looking into a whitewater rafting trip. If you're not looking into doing a whitewater rafting trip, then you definitely should, and you should definitely go with Cherokee Rafting. All four of us are planning on going back, but the next time we're going to do the 5 hour trip down more of the river (and more whitewater!). We can't wait! We have been waiting to take this family adventure for years. Now that our youngest is 12 is was time. Everything was great with Cherokee Rafting. The building was clean and well kept with a cool gift shop and comfortable seating outside on the porch. Everything was well organized from the time the guides said "Let's go rafting" to the time we sat down for the safety brief. Aaron was our guide from the great state of Texas. He made the experience unforgettable. A confident, funny, polite young man who reassured us everything was going to be as much fun as we were willing to put into it. He was right! We are a water sport family spending most of our summer weekends in the lakes of Missouri knee boarding, wake boarding and skiing. This was the first time we had ever hit the white water but we are hooked. We are going to visit the gang at Cherokee again and I sure hope Aaron is there when we go back. We did the middle this first trip but have already started planning for doing the upper trip. I have been down the Ocoee previously with other guide companies. While they were fun, they did not offer the experience that I received this weekend from Cherokee Rafting. I felt like we had known our guide for years by the end of the trip. This was hands down the most exciting rafting trip I have ever taken. We opted for the full trip (both upper and mid sections of the Ocoee) and man was it worth it. The trip began about 10 am and took about 5 hours. Lunch was provided just after the big rapids on the Upper Olympic Course where we watched other rafters wipe out. We hit all the rapids in just the right spots. We rode waves, spun through some really intense rapids and performed some other tricks through out the course.The guides for Cherokee go through rigorous training to ensure that the experience is safe and enjoyable and it obviously paid off. We've lived in the area for several years, and finally I got up the nerve to try rafting a few weeks ago. So glad I did, and so glad it was with Cherokee Rafting. Everyone we encountered was super friendly. Our bus trip to the start of the run was a lot of fun. We got to know our guide, the staff, and the people we were going to be rafting with. I was extremely nervous before we got in the raft, but once in, and our guide went over everything with us, I was really excited. Our guide was Cade, and I can't recommend him enough. He wanted to know what kind of trip down the river we wanted, and did such an awesome job giving us an exhilarating trip from start to finish. It was such an adrenaline rush, but I never felt unsafe with Cade leading us. THIS IS THE TRIP FOR YOU!!! We are a few Mississippi guys who went for a bachelor party and this is the company to go with! You HAVE to ask for LANCE, this guy is the truth! He will take care of you, explain everything, and gear your trip toward your ability. He did not hold back with us and took us to every "feature" we wanted to hit. Everyone on other companies rafts seemed to be having fun, but they were amazed by some of the things we were getting to do. I could tell by their faces they would have rather been in our raft. Lance was very comfortable in the raft, and taught us quickly what we needed to know. He was safe, but he let us be in control of what we did. I've been on several trips down the Ocoee - it was and will always be with Cherokee Rafting! The whole experience was amazing from beginning to end! I signed up for the full river trip and ended up staying for another day of rafting on the High Adventure trip as well! I had Travis for my guide both days and can't say enough good about him! He was full of helpful information and well experienced for this beginner (now addicted) rafter! Cherokee was one of a few rafting companies I was looking at to take my small (6 people) and large group (55 people) events down the Ocoee River. I'm glad I connected with Cherokee! I have always had a healthy fear of water due to my inability to swim well. As a result I have always considered rafting something I would never do in my entire life. Long story short, a ended up agreeing to go down the Ocoee with a group of my students. Despite my initial fear this ended up being one of the best days of my life. The Ocoee is even more beautiful while riding down in a raft!!! Once I was on the water my fears disappeared. Cherokee Rafting treated us great!! Each of our guides were amazing. Well worth the drive from Nashville! Tucker, our guide, was fun, sociable and went out of his way to make sure the trip was enjoyable for the his group. We opted for the Mid trip and while it was amazing, in hindsight we wish we'd operated for the full river run only becuase it really was that much fun. We didn't want it to end. I am an intensely nervous person when it comes to doing any kind of adventurous outdoor activities, but our raft guide Cade made this first whitewater experience an absolute blast (7/14/18)! He kept us entertained and laughing all the way down both sections of the river. Since he knew I was anxious, he intentionally checked in before trying more intense moves, but he had guided us so well that I was up for basically anything by the end. We did a last minute booking today and it was AMAZING! Aaron and Dan were fantastic guides. They knew the river, gave info about the area - those special extra touches. My first time WW rafting and was on my bucket list. I loved it so much I wanted to turn around and do it again. My group of friends have been rafting with Cherokee Rafting for a few years now, but this was my first time joining. I see why they choose this company every year! We had Kyle as our guide, and he was FANTASTIC! He made sure we were having as much fun as possible, and he knew the river very well. We booked the high adventure personal experience this weekend. My boyfriend and I were able to raft just the 2 of us in a Puma raft with Travis as our guide! This was by far the best experience we've ever had in the Ocoee river. I don't think we could raft it any other way from this point forward. I cannot recommend Cheerokee Rafting enough! My friends and I did a full day trip (upper and middle) and we felt safe the whole time with our extremely knowledgeable raft guide, John, who has been with the company for over 25 years. Lunch is also included and it was high quality food with options for many diets right by the river. I've NEVER been white water rafting before. I am so glad that our guide, Jake, was absolutely AMAZING.
