Four of us did the middle river white water rafting this morning and had such a good time. Our guide Chrissy was an absolute rockstar and made us feel comfortable while also keeping us all in the boat, both of which I truly appreciated! I know the experience through the rapids depends on the approach, but for us the very first rapid was the roughest. From there, we got the hand of it a little better and the rest of the trip was super fun. We happily paid the $35 for 17 pictures to be sent to us digitally that captured the fun, would go back if ever back in the area! read more

Loved it! Excellent people. Dakota at the front was gracious, super helpful, and friendly! If you want a fun outdoor experience, would 100% recommend. The guides are fun and welcoming. It was extremely popular and several of the groups in our party were return visitors which is always a great sign. The equipment was looked well kept (thank goodness)! The guides were knowledgeable, playful, and fun! There was an unexpected delay and they helped keep everyone in good spirits and ready for their adventure. They answered every question quickly and efficiently. Our know-it-all guide Gage made sure to tolerate our incessant laughing and foul language. He made us feel safe and made sure we enjoyed every inch of the ride. Fear not: There are outdoor bathrooms and changing rooms. Pro tips: SUNSCREEN! Opt for dry-fit over cotton...trust me. You will have to carry the raft (standard practice) so be prepared. No matter what, you're getting wet (like soaked!!!) so pack a complete change of cloths (shoes too friends) and we recommend a towel. Water shoes will be your best option especially if you are flying after. There are changing room but It's an outdoor adventure camp so expect to see bugs and spiders. If you are overly fastidious, take bug spray & sanitizing wipes! Make sure to leave enough time to pet two most beautiful pups in the county! read more

Unprofessional staff. At the conclusion of the safety speech, a staff member asked me in front of all the rafters why I didn't have any questions about him "being with my mom last night" I asked the staff member why he said that and that I thought the joke was misplaced given that families were in attendance and that I was there to raft with my siblings. He then asked me "where my mom was?!" in attempt to double down on his original remark.. Really strange, unprofessional behavior and overall environment. I brought the lapse in communication up to the boathouse staff after our trip but no real resolution was met. We paid for a large group of 14 to raft with Outland and simply did not have a good experience. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for an enjoyable rafting experience. read more

I loved this trip! It was my first time whitewater rafting and I had a blast! Booking online was super easy! I picked the trip I wanted, paid, and went on my merry way! I like these guys! They have cabin rentals and RV spots for staying before or after your trip so you don't have to go very far. I did tent camping, because it's free! I pulled up about 9 at night and set up my tent and everything. Only one other couple was there so there was plenty of room left on the 8+ acres to camp. Everything went really smooth the next morning. You check in and can leave your keys up by the desk. They will call you and have a legit process of round robin to get everyone their gear and suited up. They go over a safety class and load up the bus to hit the road. For the about 15 minute drive up the river the guys shared some cool history about the area and gave some ideas on where one could go to hike and see some sights after the trip. When we got to the drop point they called out everyone and paired them their "instructor", for the lack of a better term. We went over some techniques we would use while on the river. The whole time on the river is a blast! Our guide Austin was a blast and made sure we all had a great time. I'll definitely be planning a trip back !! read more

I was visiting in Chattanooga and decided to take my sons river rafting. After doing a lot of internet searches I decided on Outland. They had the Best Price that included a nice lunch for the full river trip. Let me just say this place is amazing full of great people, a nice little store where you can get a water proof bag to hold your cell phone for $10.00! A must have as I took tons of pictures and videos of us going thru the white water. But what made this day the BEST was our guide DUSTIN!!! People when I tell you a guide makes your trip believe me a guide makes your trip! I have done a lot of white water rafting in CA, Idaho, and now TN. Dave has been the Best guide ever!! I felt safe and he is extremely knowledgeable and makes the trip down river adventurous, fun, & exciting. And no worries if you fall out like I did....he is quick to get you back in the boat. Normally I would've given this place 4 stars. Overall, this would have been an enjoyable experience with minor organisational shortcomings were it not for a major safety-related incident we experienced. The program we went on was advertised as a beginner-level expedition. We took a similar rafting trip with a different company about ten years ago, so we were surprised to see that Outland Expeditions cut corners with safety. The previous rafting company spent about 20-30 minutes on the water for safety training. This included some time in the water practicing what to do if you fall in the rapids. In contrast, Outland Expeditions did nothing of the sort. They provided brief verbal instructions outside of the water, and later as we entered the Olympic rapids our guide simply advised us: "don't fall in". Unfortunately, a member of our party did fall in and he was rescued over a mile later after the rapids ended. Meanwhile, we watched helplessly as the guide shared "helpful" survival advice with people on the boat. Thankfully our family member wasn't seriously injured -- in part because he did not loose his composure and managed to keep his head above water in class 4 rapids--but it could have been much worse with a less experienced swimmer. At the end of the trip, the guide was bragging about how quickly their expeditions go through the 10 mile stretch compared to other companies. This makes perfect sense when you consider how they skipped the entire essential safety training! I'm giving 2 stars for this irresponsible handling of safety training. If you are experienced and a strong swimmer you should be fine but I would avoid this trip if any member of the party is less experienced . I sincerely hope that Outland Expeditions will remedy this lapse before an avoidable tragedy ensues. read more

Definitely a must do if you're visiting on vacation or even a local! Came up from Florida for our wedding anniversary and had the best time. It was very inexpensive for white water rafting as well (I believe our total was around $80 for two). Arrived at 8 and geared up and headed to the river by 9. Our trip lasted a little over two hours and our raft guide Micah was very experienced and knowledgeable. We were nervous as it was our first time rafting and she made us feel very safe and comfortable. The whole experience was amazing and now we are hooked on rafting! man, i have never even left a review for anything before but our tour guide was honestly just being a bully. Idk if you're having a bad day already, or just frustrated with circumstances that were out of the students' control, but dude don't take it out on a bunch of young girls who've never done this before and were nervous!! Two guys with long hair were acting like jerks. I hope their days get better, because wow. The group of girls i was with made the experience fun but a raft guide who was more empowering and less condescending would've been cool. We had an incredible experience on this rafting trip. I don't want to call my guide out by name because every single one of the guides we interacted with was there own set of crazy, fun and responsible at the same time. When you show up, you'll get your safety gear, paddle and go to the bathroom. If you're bringing a Go-Pro, ask when you check in for one of the helmets with a mount adapter pre-installed. Saves having to waste one of yours! Jump on the bus for a ride up the river. We opted for the full river (6 hours), so the drive was pretty long. This way, we got to the upper, olympic course, and lower. I strongly suggest doing the whole thing if you can. After unloading and quick safety course, you're paired up with a guide and push off in your boat. If you sit up front, you will be getting very wet very often. However... you'll be getting wet in any seat. These are real rapids - and an intense number and frequency of them. Sure, there are some slower parts, but that's a very small part of the trip. Half way down we stopped for lunch. While some companies advertise "best lunch on the Ocoee" know that most companies use the same caterer. It's a good, solid hot lunch with desert. Not so heavy you feel sluggish, but you want some real food after a few hours on the river. A few tips for people thinking about going: Show up early - the HQ is a neat place to explore Put on sunscreen. Give it to your guide so you can reapply at lunch. It might be raining, but there is no hiding from the sun on the boat if the sun comes out. Listen to the guide. Not just for safety, but a well coordinated team can really navigate the rapids better. Don't panic - even when our biggest guy fell in, the guide new what to do and had him dragged bag up. Tip your guide when you're done - not much, but they really work hard to keep you safe and make sure you have a good time. read more

I booked a group of 16 on the Middle Rapids of the Ocoee. The three guides were fantastic. The group leader, if you will Andrew was very safety conscience, but still focused on making it fun.
