Loved being member as Carol made it enjoyable meeting others who enjoyed the nude life. They decided to close unless you lived there and that was sad as no place close I could enjoy and I could not afford two homes. Hard to understand how to destroyed it. After reading what has happened with the hot tub gone, restaurant gone it has been ruined. Maybe someone else will find an area to open another so the hundreds of folks liked it can visit. I have a home in palm coast with a private pool and may start seeking others from Sunny Sands to visit and enjoy the wind and sun as we did there, once. Sometimes new owners don't get it, they buy because it was successful and they mess it up by killing what made it to begin with, sad. read more

We used to visit there before the new owners came in. Twas pleasant. Now they don't allow daily visits, loved the jacuzzi. They filled it in with dirt and planted a palm tree? Loved playing pool at the bar/restaurant. They tore it down. What part of you should sell it to keep it at a fun place don't you understand? read more

We have enjoyed all of our visits to Sunny Sands and find it to be a very relaxing place to spend the day around the pool or walking. Most of the other guests are very friendly, and we always leave making new friends. This is an AANR resort, which we like. First-time guests must complete a background check, which adds a level of safety for all guests and residents. There is a discount day fee rate for all AANR members and our entry fee for us as a couple was only $34.08. Non-AANR visitors must complete a background check each time they visit. The grounds are well-kept and maintained, and all of the facilities are clean. A poolside bar serves full alcohol, or you can bring your own and keep your cooler at the pool if you have no glass. The drinks at the bar are decent and fairly priced. The bar has a kitchen, and you can order from a limited menu. The food is decent and priced well. The front gate is attended, but we usually have to call when we arrive, and the attendant will meet us to check us in, collect our fees, and then open the gate for us. Annual members can get a FOB to access the gate unattended. Service can be hit or miss in the bar/kitchen. Dee Anne (sp) does a wonderful job and is fast and friendly. Another bartender also does housekeeping and is incredibly slow, so we have learned to avoid the bar when she is working. We will continue to return to Sunny Sands and recommend it to all our naturalist friends. read more

The place is absolutely horrible and rundown Amenities are non-existent, there is no structured activities, does not offer breakfast occasionally a food truck is brough management has no scheduled day or time, The rented chalets are outdated deplorable to say the least. read more

Very nice resort. Under new ownership and it appears changes are being made. Restaurant is currently closed undergoing renovations. The chalet (yellow) was very clean and well cared for. 1 small complaint that needs to be addressed was the mattress in the unit was very, very soft. Under new management, the place has really changed. Its been cleaned up. The changes and all upgrades being made in the resort and the rental units. I just stayed in a brand new cabin, which I loved. New Years Eve 2022-23 party was amazing. I have been going for 5 years. They now have some of the nicest people we meet of all the places we have been going. Sunny Sands is closing as a nudist resort open to the public as of April 1 2024. No day visitors , or yearly membership customers. Even the campground will not be available for short time customers. The residents there are in limbo as to what the future is for this old traditional nudist club/resort. We have spent many days over the last 20 years enjoying this club and so sad to see it disappear into history. read more

Very quiet, relaxing and rustic resort. Friendly people. Nice nature walk. Very nice pool, hot tub and rec room. It even has a 9 hole par 3 golf course. I stayed in a rental trailer and it was very nice and clean It has a bedroom, bathroom with shower, kitchen with a full size refrigerator and living room area. There was a TV in both the living room and bedroom with cable channels. There is WiFi, the closer you are to the rec center, the better the signal is. I would return in the future. read more

Been going there for years,,,,went from one good manager to a bad one then to the worst one ever, the gate lady is so rude I can't believe they keep her. We rented for 3 months they had us in one of the units(small cottage) it was ok they had booked us in the only one that excepts dogs and we had no dog,,,,,then we had to move to another unit as they rented the one we were in to someone who had a dog.....so the unit we went to was not the best pretty run down the stove was about 50 years old and I think it was never cleaned it was grosssss I asked for it to be cleaned or changed and the management said no way....I complained and even sent pictures to the main office and never got an answer. We went and bought a stove top burner to be able to cook. We wanted to go back with our RV this coming winter as we have a lot of friends there. So imagine we were refused said our membership is no longer renewable and we are no longer welcome all for a dirty stove WOW..... read more

Please remember to ask if your rental unit has heat. Our unit did not. Our unit also had no utensils or pots and pans to cook with even though we where told it was fully furnished. These would not be a deal breaker but if we had known we could have brought items with us. We are also waiting for our deposit or a letter stating why it was withheld. read more

If you're looking for a quiet place to relax, with beautiful old oaks and friendly neighbors, some old Florida vibes, and the freedom to run around naked, Sunny Sands will fill the bill. Well kept Mobile homes are nestled under beautiful old oak trees, some inhabited by friendly 20+ year residents, some for sale, and even some fully furnished rentals available for short term use. It's close to a little airport, if you fly a small plane. Daytona Beach and Barberville are pretty close if you want to see a car or motorcycle race. Beaches and fishing are in nearby Daytona too. You can pack light because clothes are not needed here. WiFi is available, so you can (and should) Yelp your experience while you lounge by the pool . The small lake has dried up to become a pond, as so many Florida lakes have, but it's still pretty... And there is a beautiful pool next to it and hot tub where you can relax without the constrictions of a swimsuit. A small golf course is beside the lake, and palenque is near the pool. A nice clubhouse, bar/ lounge, and even a campground are there for you. Did I mention that this resort is quiet? It's serenely quiet most of the time. Except for the naked part, it could be any quiet village. If you have never done the clothing optional thing, you can call and get a free one day pass and see if you like it. This is about as "NO STRESS" a place as you can find anywhere. Its so beautiful that we almost bought a home there! read more

The day I arrived the owner had just fired the manager. The maintenance man quit days later. The hot tub didn't work for a week during a cold spell. Since then, she has fired her replacement managers as well. There seems to be a problem working for this owner. More importantly, the owner's replacement help ran a truck into the side of my rig while I was leaving the resort! She told me to get a few estimates and she'd write a check. I'm a trusting fool and left assuming she'd honor those words. You can image my shock when the estimate was submitted and work begun when she didn't want to pay. Then I started getting no responses at all from her! She declined to provide the resort's insurance information as well. After months of sleuthing I was able to submit a claim against Sunny Sands and... the insurance company did the right thing. Thanks, Sunny Sands owner, that was an enjoyable experience. read more

NEVER AGAIN. When booking my reservation I was originally told by the owner's son that if you stay for 7 days the seventh day is free. When I got there I was told that was not the case. Also on the first day I informed them the air conditioning unit in the living room was not working. I was told they would try to find one on Craigslist and replace it but after 7 days it was still not changed. 4 days in the 80s, 2 days where 88°. After 7 days and almost $800, I was not impressed. read more

I've gone here a few times now for naked events. They're overall fun to go to here, however I think the group I'm in is now outgrowing this place. Last time I was there some of the bathrooms had to be shut down due to too much water usage from showers. Bathrooms were very limited in the first place so this caused lines to form for the bathrooms, something that didn't happen the previous times. This also caused maintenance to be overlooked for the bathroom trash cans which were overflowing. Parking is now more restricted than before, which is understandably for your car's safety from tipping in certain areas. Unfortunately it also means it'll fill up a lot more easily for special events, cars can be blocked in more easily and the shaded parking doesn't exist anymore (was nice to park in that when it was hot). I noticed that a few had to ignore the signs and park in the former parking area as there was no other space. They also seem a bit stingy on air conditioning in the two buildings, having it set at a higher temperature despite it being hot outside. And lodging there is really limited so you're lucky if you can book anything there during events or you'll have to find some place nearby if you don't want to camp. However there's not much anywhere around the area. Could use more lighting too, have to use flashlights at night. However it's still fun, with nice nature trails, good pool and hot tub, volleyball court, gym, etc. Nice to feel the freedom of being nude without restriction. However it is small and it's now increasingly tough for them to accommodate our group. Still a decent place however, and would probably be no problem to go to when there's no special event, although much more boring read more

They advertise unaffiliated single rates, but then turn you away at the gate citing some small print about being unaffiliated (not sure why they advertise a rate they won't honor). Wasted my day off plus gas. The gate attendant was not friendly and indifferent to the fact that I called ahead and was told I could visit for a day. We've been here many times. We enjoy the pool, live bands, and of course the nude golf. However, we had reservations for the 19th Aug Weekend and had them cancel on us due to a big group coming in. We may still do a day trip if friends visit there,; but, we won't be staying over anymore. We'll go elsewhere for an entire weekend stay. read more
