Five stars are not enough for Eric and his installation crew at Cherry Creek. They installed twenty Marvin replacement windows over two days this week. And they were perfect: communication, expertise, caring for the house and keeping it clean and tidy. We were anxious as the installation day approached because we are living in the house with a 5-month-old puppy. We worried about the noise, the dirt and dust, and having unknown people working on every side and floor of the house. None of those worries were necessary: all four of the team were polite, mostly surprisingly quiet, fast, thorough, and great at what they do. Of course, we loved the cleanup and removal at the end. We recommend them 110%. read more

My wife and I built a new home and purchased Marvin windows from Cherry Creek. I do not recommend Cherry Creek or Marvin windows. Cherry Creek incorrectly derived measurements for 2 of the windows from our building plans. Cherry Creek chose to take no responsibility for their mistake and I was forced to purchase 2 new windows so I could complete my project. The Marvin windows they sold me are bleeding a beige seal where the black window pane finishes on the glass. Yes, they use a beige seal against a black pane. The bleeding looks horrible. Both Cherry Creek and Marvin do not consider this bleeding to be a defect. They told me it is my responsibility to address this issue. I cannot say enough good things about this company! I replaced many of my 100-year-old window sashes and doors with ones built by Cherry Creek. The results are beautiful, functional, and faithful to the original styling. I live in a 1919 Seattle Craftsman house with lots of period architectural details. My windows had been painted shut by previous owners and many of the counterweight ropes were broken from wear. I agonized over the decision of whether to restore the existing windows or get new ones. I wanted to be sure that new windows would be tasteful and not disturb the aesthetic that had made me fall in love with the house to begin with. Cherry Creek's business is to make new high-quality windows and doors (not restore old ones). In their showroom you can see how their products will fit into your existing window frames. The people at Cherry Creek were all very patient with my MANY questions about how exactly the new sashes would fit in with the existing window frames and millwork. They convinced me that they could build new sashes that would have modern double-paned glass and weather stripping while maintaining all the same styling as the existing windows and fitting into my existing window frames. The results are beautiful and functional. I get frequent compliments on how nice they look. Cherry Creek built the new windows to have the same cross-hatched pattern as the originals, so I don't feel like I've compromised any of the historical charm. Based on this good experience, I later hired Cherry Creek to build me new doors. The old front door was extremely drafty, and they advised me that to really fix this would require a new door and door jambs, but they were able to preserve the trim around the old door. Again my conservationist instinct motivated me to get a new front door that is as close as possible to the original. Cherry Creek did an INCREDIBLY good job of replicating the original door, down to the smallest details. Every single person I interacted with at Cherry Creek was patient, knowledgable, and helpful. From this review you can probably tell that I'm very particular about these projects, and I'm sure I am not the easiest customer. But the people at Cherry Creek were always willing to answer my questions. If you are looking for tasteful windows and doors to replace old wavy, single-paned, painted shut, drafty, etc. windows and doors, I would absolutely not hesitate to have Cherry Creek build you new ones. (Cherry Creek also sells other lines of pre-made windows, but what makes them special are the windows they make themselves.) read more

We were doing a home remodel project and our GC at the time used Cherry Creek Windows & Doors. There were major delays getting our Marvin windows. The wrong size bay window was ordered which caused a year delay in our project. The GC always said he couldn't get a hold of his sales rep and could never give us a straight answer on anything. They also said they can fix windows (purchased through them) that were supposedly installed incorrectly. When it came down to doing the actual work they turned around and said they couldn't do it. I would not recommend doing business with this company. read more

Cherry Creek Windows replaced two double hung windows in my house several years ago. From the initial placement, one of the windows was impossible to open. I repeatedly asked that they fix it. Although they promised to send their repair people, they never followed through. Last summer when temps skyrocketed, I begged them to fix the window so I could open during the slightly cooled hours. Nothing. This year I even sent them a USPS letter requesting their attention. No response. I recommend that anyone considering using this company, look elsewhere. How long is a window supposed to last? I will be honest, this was not a question that crossed my mind when we were looking for windows for our 1908 renovation. I figured that houses are meant to last, so I would only need to buy windows once, right? Cherry Creek is local. They made beautiful wood windows for us. 30 of them. The profiles matched historical context. Their sales people were great. They painted the windows for us. They even delivered. There were a few wrinkles in the beginning: a significant delay in our schedule because they prioritized building displays for the Home Show; there was a mix up with the paint and they painted our exterior windows with interior paint. In the end, the windows were delivered and the windows were repainted. Nonetheless, we loved our windows and all seemed resolved. But again, how long is a window supposed to last? We bought from Cherry Creek in 2003. Within a year or three, about 8 panes had failed. We called Cherry Creek about our guarantee and they were not so happy to help us. They did replace the panes, but they made it clear they did not plan to come back and that we would be on our own. In 2020 the majority of insulated panes have failed. The mechanism they use in lieu of counterweights has not worn well. The wood in 2 sills has failed. So again, I wonder, how long is a $30k investment in a premium locally made window supposed to last? I would have thought a lot longer. read more

If I were reviewing only the final product (new windows + installation), I would give Cherry Creek Windows & Doors 4 stars. The windows are well-built and they did a perfectly adequate job installing them. However... every step of the process--from initial contact to final invoicing--has ranged from mildly unpleasant to downright infuriating. Here's the rundown: 1. They are poor communicators and constantly behind schedule. I received the initial quote on July 9, paid the deposit to reserve my place in their work queue on July 15, and was told it would be 12-16 weeks. After 17 weeks had passed, I called them and was told the windows were nearly ready. A week and a half later I called again (*I* called *them*) and they said the windows were finally ready, and they scheduled installation. Now I completely understand that things get delayed, but it's only courteous, when you blow past an estimated delivery date, to contact your client with an update. 2. When they arrived with the windows, their driver severely damaged a beloved tree when he attempted to pull an oversized delivery vehicle into our driveway. The driver and lead installer apologized, but there was no further communication about the incident from the company until I sent them an arborist's appraisal of the damage, at which point they submitted it to their insurance company. The insurance company paid less than half of the value of the damage, and Cherry Creek's owners refuse to communicate further on the matter. 3. Two windows that we'd wanted (and thought we'd ordered) weren't even on their paperwork, so we had to order them fresh... which was delayed by Cherry Creek failing to send us the paperwork for a full 11 weeks following measurement (apparently it was sitting on someone's desk that whole time). These last two windows were finally installed May 5th (nearly 10 months after we first contacted them!). 4. One of the windows that they did bring was the wrong size (despite them having two different people come take measurements), and I was told it would take another 8 weeks for the replacement to be ready. Twelve weeks later I contacted them (yes, once again, it was me contacting them, not the reverse), and finally, 2 weeks later (33 weeks after the original order and payment of deposit), the replacement window was installed. 5. They don't clean up well after their work. Following initial installation, they told me they'd come back another day to clean the windows and fix a few little hardware issues. They did send someone back to fix the hardware, but no cleaning occurred and they left lots of debris (that they generated) and dirty handprints on newly painted white window frames. 6. Their internal communications seem to be as bad as their communications with clients: following installation of the replacement window (item 4, above), the installer told me he'd have the office send me an invoice. Two weeks later I received a nasty "past due" notice, but still no invoice. When I told them I was still awaiting an invoice they finally sent it (acknowledging that they'd failed to do so before) and I paid it. Then, following installation of the final two windows, I was again told that I'd be sent an invoice. This time I only waited a week before contacting them to request it. Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience and I hope to be done with Cherry Creek Windows & Doors forever. I still grieve every time I look (out through clear new windows) at the mutilated tree. read more

I really put window companies right up there with car salesmen - that is because I had a very bad experience with another window and door company (all right, I'll tell stories - NW Window and Door). They measured, ordered the windows, ordered the wrong windows that did not match my 1910 bungalow, and made me pay for the merchandise anyway. I still have those windows (Marvin, EXPENSIVE) gathering dust in my garage. Grrrr... So I was very pleasantly impressed when Cherry Creek sent Erik out to measure, he knew all about my style of house and windows and ordered what we needed. A few weeks later, Cherry Creek's able shop on Vashon Island made our custom windows true to the indiosyncracies of our house (plus they are made of local FIR, not crappy pine like you get from windows made elsewhere by Marvin or Pella), PAINTED THEM and INSTALLED them. Neatly, and on the timeframe promised, at the price promised. And one window was 1/64th of an inch off. Well, Erik could have glossed it over and told me it was the rain swelling the sash. But no! Without us even noticing the problem, Erik offered to have Cherry Creek build a whole new window to fix the problem. No charge. Just wow. I am so happy with the excellent product, the wonderful service and the way these folks do business that I have ordered more windows. And when we do work on the back of our house that requires custom french doors, I know where I will shop. These guys are a local business with high quality and ethics. Cherry creek replaced every window and exterior door in our 1930 Tudor, which had the original windows. They created custom pieces including hand leaded glass. This was a major project and the team was fantastic in every way from beginning to end. I highly recommend!!! read more

It took just under 7 weeks to have my windows built and installed. I was told 6-8 weeks so that was pretty accurate. I will post some photos once I have completed my touch up painting. The new windows look just like how I envision my old windows did when the house was first built so overall I am pleased with the results. If I were to do it all over again I probably would have had them do the painting as that turned out to be more work than I anticipated. Also, prepare for a little home take over during the day of install as they had to set up plastic booths around the areas they worked. I give 4 stars only because their business hours make it tough to get there if you work a normal job. Perhaps they could open earlier or stay open later? read more

These folks are real professionals, and I recommend them highly. O have a 1920's tudor, and when it came time to upgrade windows, I did a bunch of research and went with Cherry Creek. I'm glad I did. They have a good line of products and their sales team were very helpful in getting the look I wanted. They listened to my desires to make the end product look original, and they thought creatively about how to get me what I wanted. I am really picky, and now the windows are in I can say I am more than happy witj the job. They specialize in their all wood windows and doors for homes where you are able to maintain the paint on a yearly basis. We own an older craftsman styled house with waved glass and didn't want to ruin the character with new vinyl windows. It took us two years to find Cherry Creek but they were everything we had hoped for and provided us with an excellent set of 7 storm windows, painted them to match our trim, and installed them. No troubles at all with the process and the price was mid-range. I would highly recommend this shop to you if you are looking for anything from Doors, New Wood Windows, storm windows etc... Not sure how to rate Cherry Creek based on two very different experiences. My wife previously used them to replace window glass at our house and raved about their customer service. I contacted them for a quote on a broken window and am extremely disappointed. The window was coming off its tracks when sliding up and the spring assist mechanism had fallen out (I now know this is called a channel balance). I called cherry creek about the problem and they asked me to email pictures. I asked if they wanted to come out to provide a quote, but they declined and quoted me over $1,200 to replace the entire window. Luckily I also sent an email with the same info to another window contractor (doublehungwindowrestoration.com), and they emailed back with instructions on how to replace the channel balance by myself. The part ended up costing me $14 and took less than 30 min total. $1,200 vs $14, really? I give them a very generous 2 stars and recommend getting a second estimate if you're going to use Cherry Creek. read more

I was extremely happy with all aspects of the window replacement project that was just completed with Cherry Creek . Every detail was perfect...including the measurements...ordering...installation....and a truly wonderful crew to work with. I feel the job was fairly complex, with a lot of little details to address. Three picture windows with an arch ended up so perfect...I am not even sure if a razor blade would have fit in the gaps in between. It went from all separate frames to a beautiful integrated looking one piece unit. I would highly recommend this company of family and good friends! read more

Cherry Creek has done amazing work for us. We called them originally to put new windows into our 1920s house, but were extremely pleased to hear that most of our double-hung windows were easily re-roped and repaired. With the addition of storm windows, which provide insulation, look wonderful and allow us to have open windows in the rain, we have beautiful, working, original windows at a fraction of the cost for new ones. Cherry Creek did build us two new windows for an area with high exposure. They color-matched the stain so that the windows fit in perfectly with the rest of the room. I would highly recommend Cherry Creek Windows & Doors, and have already - many times. Be prepared for a somewhat relaxed approach; if you are expecting service with military precision, you might get frustrated. Personally, I like their style and LOVE their product. read more

Cherry Creek is an uprofessional business. I paid them a $150 deposit for them to make me a storm window. Three months later I called to ask why it was not ready and they said they had not yet taken measurements for the window. Mike told me that I had not called to schedule an appointment for this and that they emailed me. And yet I had given them detailed instructions on where the window was and told them they could go by when I was not there. Instead of trying to solve the issue, Mike's knee-jerk reaction was to say he would be refunding my deposit and that he did not want my business. Wow, very unprofessional and poor customer service. read more

I have a 1915 bungalow, and its original windows did not protect me from a noisy neighbor, even with my storm windows closed. When my neighbor got a new hot tub, I knew it was time to upgrade my windows. I asked a friend who is a realtor for a recommendation, and she said to go to Cherry Creek. My new windows look like the originals, they open and close more reliably, and they reduced the amount of sound that enters the house considerably. I did the bedrooms this time around, but when I'm ready to do the front of the house I will go to Cherry Creek again. I wish I had done this years ago. read more

They were beautiful and similar to the original windows but much more energy efficient, convenient to clean and sound proof. We recently had Cherry Creek service the windows; they were updated with new Cardinal Glass. The skilled employees were professional and worked in a timely manner, There was no trace of debris when they were finished. Cherry Creek makes a high quality storm window. A few years back I had 3 custom-made for my home's large single pane windows. I recently placed an order for 6 more for smaller windows. Upon delivery I found a discrepancy in the sizes. I called and talked with Mike who went back to the measurement details. He acknowledged that CC had made an accidental switch in measurements when transferring the numbers from my measurements into CC's CAD program. He took full responsibility of the issue. He was apologetic and re-submitted my order at no cost to me. There are very few companies who would do that. I am a repeat customer of Cherry Creek Door and Window Company. Additionally, I have background around 'the trades' and know alot about construction and wood. My home was built in 1902 and it is essential to keep the windows 'in the era' architecturally. Personally, nothing is more glaring and 'ugly' than a fine old house or building with trashy lighting or trashy windows. Wrecks the value and detracts from an era of true craftsmanship. I originally selected Cherry Creek after considerable effort asking around (they have an outstanding reputation). Let's take a journey now on WHY what wood is used truly matters. I will start by mentioning that my 1902 house has mostly original windows (and I currently have an order in with Cherry Creek to replace one that is not original) Anyway: I do not have rotten sills and rotten windows. Why? Because the wood in the 'old days' was mostly 'old growth, clear VG fir" which is pretty well long gone now on the lumber market - except for some can come out of Canada (as well as old growth cedar) Rare and expensive, of course, but lasts a lifetime if you do simple maintenance. For those of you that don't know: the 'tightness of the grain' (that means the growth rings - that is grew slowly and naturally) really impacts how long that wood will last over time. A tree can be cut at multiple angles: the end product/board is VG (vertical grain you see basically straight lines in the wood grain); or Flat Grain ( that looks pretty 'wavey" when you look at the grain of the board and it has a tendency to bow/warp especially in challenging exterior applications); and "cross grain" (between vertical and flat grains) An educated wood lover knows that VG (vertical grain) is what you want in general - and especially in an exterior application where it must withstand UV rays (the sun) and rain and temperature changes. So: the old days wood: 'clear old growth fir" is essentially not available anymore (unless you can find some salvaged from an old house demo and have it milled) . Much of today's wood market in the NW is wood grown more quickly, and therefore less dense. It does not last as long as the old growth - sometimes it rots super quickly depending on how quickly it was grown, the cut of the tree (vertical, cross,or flat grain - above) and what type of tree the wood came from. Alot of what is used in the windows made today (if you are lucky) is Hem-Fir. That means both Hemlock and Fir were united into one tree (to grow faster than Fir does) It is grown quickly and has less density (close rings) than the 'old wood of yesterday'. Note: if you get a window made in another part of the country it could be made out of pine, or most any wood. And also may have composite wood in it (those not only are vulnerable to moisture/warping,but also can outgas formaldehyde from the glues in the 'composition wood' (MDF, particle board, etc are garbage !) Why I selected Cherry Creek ties in with this education in wood: You will pay some extra - but a fair competitive price - to get wood that will actually last more than the garbage than is often in cheaper windows. Cherry Creek carefully selects their wood, and they manufacture they own winddows. They use a VG (vertical grain) (take a look at their show room in Wallingford) and are picky about their wood (love that !!!) They are beautiful windows, made of excellent wood and precise craftsmanship. In addition, Erik who does the detailed measurements and installation is a MASTER CRAFTSMAN at installation and a fine quality end result. I had a window here that had been painted closed, that he freed up without breaking the glass or damaging any of the perimeter casing. Re-roped it so it is tied into the weights inside the wall, and now it opens and closes after so many years of being painted shut. He also helped weatherstrip it . So impressed with his skill (and I know the difference) Some companies have what I call "have skill saw,will travel" and they can really hack up your home, you can end up with windows that leak, or worse. If you want top materials, superior skills and who I consider to be the best available: then contact Cherry Creek. Locally owned, small business passed down from dad to son (started on Vashon Island) I am now entering my third purchase from them and could not be happier. (Another purchase was storm windows for the original closet windows that I wanted to keep, but they were no longer square to the opening. I kept the original closet windows on all four corners of the second floor and got FABULOUS storm windows that I simply 'push out' (they were installed with hinges on the exterior) when i want air to come in the window, but I can close the storm window and it is 100% weather tight from wind and rain. They are gorgeous - Cherry Creek's team on Vashon builds beatiful windows - you can tell that a skilled craftsperson built your windows. And we are amazed at how much quieter it is in the house! We are even sleeping better since our room is so much quieter. if you have an old home and are looking for windows with lead detail Cherry Creek is the place to go. They are extremely well versed in older Seattle homes and do an amazing job with the lead detail. Don't fall for the sales pitch that other window companies give on doing leaded glass detail. Go see the Cherry Creek showroom and talk with them so you have the chance to compare - you'll be so happy you did. The experience from start to finish was awesome. I felt Cherry Creek was professional and offered a good value when they restored the windows in my house. My house had beautiful windows when it was built in 1914 but it had its original windows replaced with massive single pane picture windows in the 1950s, so I looked up a photo of my house from the 1930s in the tax assessor files at the Puget Sound Branch of the Washington State Archives in Bellevue to learn how the lights of the original windows had been divided (looking at the photos of the homes of my neighbors to the sides and back gave me unique views of the original windows on the side and back of my house), then I had Cherry Creek Windows headquartered in Wallingford build and install new double-pane windows to match the style of the original windows where I needed a custom window to match the old style as closely as possible on the front of the house. They also installed Marvin windows on the side and back of the house that matched the original windows closely. The before and after is dramatic. Restoring the look of the original windows brought the proportions of the house back in balance and restored its original charm. Also, looking out of the windows from inside is more pleasant now. The multiple lights make the window more human-scale and they put a pleasant frame around the view outside. read more
