The developer took a huge piece of land used to be Olson's Cherry Orchard in Sunnyvale and turned it into a upscale shopping mall. I only been here when I shopped at Trader Joe's. I read owner of this biz page said, "established in 1874" is a misstatement. Cherry Orchard Shopping Center was built in recent years. Maybe for Olson's Cherry Orchard. I think Waze map app needs to do a better job to direct people. I was led to the parking lot at the old Orchard Supply Hardware store. But it was blocked off. Thanks to Google Maps app for correcting it. This mall has lots of matured palm trees, which gave me a huge welcome to California. I took some photos of blue sky and those palm trees to share with friends. They thought I was in southern California. Hahaha. read more

Ahhh Cheery Cherry Orchard. Well, until someone zooms into the parking spot you were waiting for. Then it's, you bleeeeeep! A cute little fruit produce shop, TJ's, Chi Po Po, Da Bux, PF Chang's, Pasta Pomodoro, and more. With all these shops, the small parking lot can get a bit crowded and crazy, especially during the lunch and dinner hours. Sometime you can find a parking and other times it will take some circling and good parking karma. if you can handle the anxiety of parking (which isn't the worst I've ever seen, but rather a mild annoyance like a fly, or two buzzing around), then this can potentially be your one stop shop for dinner or snack and groceries. read more

Though I'm not sure what they were thinking when they put several crowd attractors in a shopping center with a very small parking lot, I find myself at Cherry Orchard a lot. I like the Pasta Pomodoro and the Olson fruit market. I also sometimes go to the Chipotle. Penisula Beauty Supply moved, btw. Seriously though... the parking can really suck. Let's forget the parking right now. Let's talk about something I think is really cool about this shopping center. Yes, I'm talking about all the incredible palm trees. They line the walk going across the parking lot, leading to Trader Joe's. I feel like a movie star walking under those palms! (Before you shake your head and call me crazy, I'm from the midwest.) Seriously people, just look at them! You may take it for granted if you've lived in CA your whole life, but believe me: they are a big deal. A really big deal! Then there are these pretty sculptures covered in mosaics, and there are flowers around some of them. Whoever made this place definitely cared about making it pretty! THEN...when you walk out of Trader Joe's, and if you look ahead toward's PF Chang's....huge, massive palm trees surrounding it. I swear, I feel like I'm in an exotic resort or something. Looking at those palms, I could be anywhere. So you're worried about parking? Well, it really depends a lot on when you go. It's obviously the worst during peak hours, and I try to avoid that. I do always find a spot, but you just have to bring your patience. That's not unusual in this area though. Pack your patience. I haven't gone to that many of the stores/restaurants, but there's a great selection. Of course, there is a Starbucks (where is there not a Starbucks?). There's a Gamestop, a Nekter juicebar, C.J. Olsen Cherries, that PF Chang's I mentioned, and much more. Mainly I go for Trader Joe's. And those palm trees. read more

I agree with most everyone that parking at this shopping center is really bad. As a matter of fact, it is almost up there with Valley Fair. If you are lucky enough to find parking, then there are plenty of stores and restaurants to check out. Borders and EB Games for shopping. Pasta Pomodoro and P.F. At the least busiest of times parking is a problem. Someone should have gotten fired over this stupidity. And if you like chains, this place has all of 'em, including the fancy Chinese food for white people, PF Changs. I won't review that one until Yelp gives us the Zero Star/Hollow Star rating scheme based on the watered down flavors for their overpriced food and inadequate service. I remember when I worked in the area and this was the new hotness. When PF Changs debuted it was nuts city. Well that's died down and it's still nuts city when it comes to driving. I saw someone back into a pedestrian and almost run them over. I tried to park far on the fringes as possible. I do like the eats here, Italian, burgers, coffee and a juice bar. Cherry Orchard earns 3 stars but could easily have made 4 if not for the horrible parking. At the corner of Mathilda and El Camino, look for what is left of the old cherry stand. There are two main entrances/exits with the El Camino one being busier. From here, there three rows of parking that attempts to accommodate the customers for P.F. Changs, Starbucks, Borders, Pasta Pomodoro, Cold Stone Creamery and other businesses. Here is where the planners failed as there simply isn't enough parking, especially on Fridays and the weekends. With no other parking options, I've left before and will no doubt leave in the future when there are no spots available. Other than that, if you can find parking, Cherry Orchard is a nice place. You can eat at one of the many restaurants here, mail packages, find a nice book, grab a coffee that costs a latte (sorry, couldn't pass that up) and finish off with some ice cream. And afterwards, you can get walk back to your car and be stalked by the cars waiting for a spot. Careful, they bite! read more

I remember coming to Sunnyvale for my cousin's wedding back in '01. What a fun time because he's cool as hell. But one free afternoon he took all of us here, to the Cherry Orchard Mall. Hey, i'm from jersey so to me Shopping Center is a mall. But anyway, i remember coming here and thinking "jersey has a mall every 10 feet, why cant it look this good?" I distinctly remember the benches and the sculptures. And i think there was a popcorn maker in the middle of the mall? I dont remember but I'm pretty sure there was. And where else could you get a barry bonds jersey for $20? now if i could only remember the japanese place that he took us to afterwards. Parking is tough, but I used to live in the area so this was my local place for Trader Joe's, Chipotle, etc. Now that I have moved to Mountain View I never find myself needing to go to Cherry Orchard for anything. Typical strip mall. Nothing really special about it unless you are going to Olson's or really want P.F. Chang's. The only thing that stands out is their parking situation. Not terrible during peak hours, but with a few restaurants, lunch hour can be insane. read more

Olson Cherry Stand (no longer the original stand) is still standing thanks to many customers who helped keep the stand alive. Yay! I love the locally grown vine ripe bing cherries. I love the locally grown vine ripe blenheim apricots in the early summer. I love Olson's fresh cherry pies. I love the still standing water tower, which is a faint childhood memory. My family picked for the Olson's way back in the 50's when we lived on the ranch. For many of us native Californians, Santa Clara County residents, Olson's is part of our childhood since our parents were migrant workers during a period of our lives. For me ripe Olson's bing cherries and apricots are what that cherry stand is all about. Don't lose the local cherries & apricots. I'll be there for them come spring/early summer. read more

Parking is rough here since there is a trader joes and a starbucks but otherwise this is a nice shopping center. There is a couple of places to eat at like chipotle or pf changs. Biggest downside is how tight the spaces are though, someone banged a shopping cart into my car and of course they didn't leave any information. I love this shopping center! Located at the corner of El Camino Real & Mathilda,this place is designed beautifully, however, parking was a bit overlooked as it is always a huge challenge. However, for visits to the great shops like, Juicyberry, Borders, PF Changs, Chipotle, Pasta Pomodoro, Starbucks, to mention a few, it's totally worth it! Most of the places are open late (till 11pm) and it is always bustling no matter what time of the day you come. read more

Parking used to be kind of annoying but now that Borders is gone [super sad ): ], it`s a lot better. It`s really convenient to go there to get some work done at Starbucks and then go next door to Chipotle for food. And if Chipotle isn`t something you want, there are plenty of other choices around, such as P.F. Changs and Pasta Pomodoro. I love pasta and bread so i am a big fan of Italian food. Pasta Pomodoro is a great place to satisty a Quick Pasta craving and warm bread. I love their mini lava cake too... it's good pasta for the price you pay! YUM!! read more

While some of the stores here are very good (Borders's, EA Games, Starbuck's), the parking is ATROCIOUS at most times of the day (particularly weekends, when the P.F. Chang crowd takes over). It's nice to have the bookstore here, but I do wax nostalgiac for the days of cherry orchards here before C.J. Olson sold their land for development. read more

Went to C.J. Olson for some fresh cherries. Found lots of good items to choose from. If you like them neatly packed or like they just came off the tree, they have them. If you are a tea drinker they have cherry and apricot tea bags. If you are a trail blazer they have packs of trail mix nuts. For sugar free there are cherry chews and dark almonds. And much more. We should all support the local growers and businesses. These companies have been started by and run by people from the "greatest generation" known. We owe a lot to the farmers of this country. This is my first time having my eye exam at Dr. Holbert in Sunnyvale,Ca. I went this morning and I am very dissappointed on their clealiness. When I sat down into the exam room, I noticed that the room has not been cleaned for centuries. The computer screen is covered with dust, behind the desktop, even the machines are full of dust. I was thinking to tell the technician, if she come in the room, but the my my beautiful optician came and became speechless. read more
