My friend and I encountered a serious problem in the seven-story parking garage connected to the Icon Theater. We parked on the second level, closest to Mendocino Farms. We needed to take the elevator, so we ended up going through a labyrinth from the parking area to get to the elevator. When we tried to go back the same way, the door was locked. We had to walk in through the car access and up the ramp to get to our car. read more

Small Shopping Center near our home, and across from San Antonio Shopping Center. This small plaza has Planned Parenthood, T Mobile, and some other businesses along with a larger office building. The parking lot has entrances on both California and San Antonio. Other than my gal going to planned parenthood I haven't tried any of the other businesses here. Thanks San Antonio Center! read more

Went to dinner on a Saturday night. Lots of people waiting outside . Not sure what to expect but I was told it was good. I got a specialty drink that was good and we did order the BBQ rib appetizer . It was really good. I should have got 2 and skipped the fish and chips. The pieces I got were ok. They did not bring vinegar ! That was a sign. The pieces were small and not much flavor. Thus place is not on my list unless just drinks and appetizer . Oh well read more

This is an older shopping center and most of the stores have been here for many many years and is located at the corner of San Antonio Road and El Camino. You can find the following store here just to name a few: Rite Aide, Sears & Sears Auto Center, Ross Dress for Less, Bev Mo!, 24 Hr Fitness, Joanne's, Kohl's, TK Noodles, Trader Joe's, Dairy Queen, and Walmart. Careful when driving through the parking lots especially in the Trader Joe & Walmart area of the shopping center as people drive like 'bats outta hell.' read more

What a disappointment. When the construction first began on the long time San Antonio Shopping Center, there were rumors of a Santana Row-type renaissance and an influx of great stores and dining options. As the construction began and the scale and complex went up, it all brimmed with possibility. Flash forward several years later and while the housing construction is still ongoing and the tenant spaces are not all filled, we so far have: - Starbucks (along with every other corner) - Fidelity Investments - Safeway (large and new but nothing spectacular compared to the nearby Whole Foods and Fresh Market) - Jared's Jewelry - Sleep Number Mattresses - The Counter Burgers (theres another nearby on California Street) So much for a big jump up from prior occupants like Sears, Rite Aid and Big 5. The Shopping Center has Trader Joe's but its quickly being surpassed by many nearby malls. Here are a few places that would be at least buzz worthy and have gone up recently at other nearby locations: - Ike's Sandwich (there's one at Stanford but mainly for students) - Philz (it's the new Starbucks and fave of many and not nearly as ubiquitous yet) - Gott's Roadside, Five Guys, or even another In-N-Out versus the too close Counter. I realize Palo Alto has the new Gott's. Shake Shack (a pipe dream) - Din Tai Fung ;) (my true pipe dream) - and for the shoppers: How about Forever 21, H&M, Uniqlo Instead, the big spots are Safeway and Sleep Number. Unless the last few spots are filled with something spectacular, San Antonio Shopping Center hasn't upgraded as much as it once seemed like it would. Obviously signing tenants and getting hot brands and eateries to pick your space is difficult, but I miss Rite Aid if this is all you got. read more

this shopping center has definitely gone through many changes since its inception. having read a bit of history about mountain view, my understanding is that this used to be the site of one of the earliest malls in silicon valley, dating back in the 1950s. despite the addition of many key retailers, this mall was eventually shut down, and completely demolished in 1995. even though it was before i became a mountain view resident, i still wonder why this mall was closed and torn down. i would have liked to have seen this mall in its prime. my husband and i used to frequent sears, but they tore it down last year. and now, there are several buildings under construction in its place. i'm told that one of the buildings will become a new safeway sometime in the future. currently, the big name stores are: *24 hour fitness *ross dress for less *trader joe's *wal-mart *the milk pail market whether to work out, buy groceries, fresh produce, or general household conveniences, you can generally find what you need at this shopping center. there are also several restaurants here. parking is plentiful, but you may have to park a bit farther and walk, especially on the weekends. read more

This place maybe be bigger than Stanford Shopping Center, but I wouldn't exactly call it a "shopping center." It's more of a spread out strip mall, or, as the British call them, a retail park. And after the ongoing renovations are over, it will be a retail park with a fake downtown on one end. That's because San Antonio is primarily a large expanse of parking lots, studded with big box stores. Currently, the biggest tenants are Walmart (one of the only in the area), Kohl's, a Sprouts market, and 24 Hours Fitness (they actually have both a 'Sports Club' and a 'Super Sport Club'). The Milk Pail Market and the Trader Joe's are two non-mega sized stores and the only two I frequent. It's a convenient center, for sure, but it could be so much more. With underground/raised parking and a better selection of stores, San Antonio could be a Valleyfair-esque mall. read more

Huge disappointment, I thought this was meant to modeled on Santana Row, with retail on ground level, housing above. I have yet to drive into the parking lot. There is nothing here but a collection of chain stores. The retail offerings (mattresses and jewelry) are not very compelling. I think there is one real restaurant (aside from the Counter). No need to venture north of Castro Street. The Milk Pail is worth the trip but that is about it. Safeway and Trader Joe's can be found every few miles, so not a draw IMO. read more

San Antonio Shopping Center is unique in that it is home to some nice businesses such as Trader Joe's, Target and BevMo. On the other hand, Wal-Mart, Mervyn's and Ross all resemble third-world countries. I've only braved one restaurant here (Lukoki), which was clean and decent. There is lots of parking though parking at Trader Joe's and Wal-Mart does get crowded. I spend most of my time across the street at Target for a cleaner, less crowded and much more pleasant shopping experience. read more

What's not to like? There are so many different businesses in here that I can visit every other day if I wanted! I live across the street from here and for Trader Joe's, Washington Mutual, Milk Pail Market and Target only I would rate them 5 stars. This shopping center has changed a lot, is changing, and will continue to change over the next couple years, so I have always stopped myself from writing a review, but here it goes. There are things I really like about this shopping center, and things I really don't like. Though there is ample parking, it always seems like no matter what time of day, the parking lots can be crazy. As far as the stores, again, some I love, and some I never go into. At this shopping center, I shop at Walmart, Trader Joe's, stop by the Chinese place for sesame balls sometimes, I like Jo-Anne's for my crafting needs, I work at Milk Pail Market, and I can stop at Bev-Mo for libations. Stores have come and gone. There are a lot of changes coming. For someone who was born and raised here, it is weird to see. I have hope. I just hope the changes are actual improvements read more

This shopping centre is located farther away from the Silicon Valley madness, and closer to the projects. The stores reflect that, as this plaza is filled with the likes of a Wal-mart, Target, Payless Shoe Source, etc. Both times I have eaten here, it was hard to decide between one shady looking greasy chinese take-out to the other. This strip mall is very practical, and a good place to go in case you need to buy a nail clipper or a small colour tv. Not a good place for clothing, or eating. read more

I've been living and shopping here for my entire life and it's always been a pretty solid shopping center. I'm actually really excited with what it's turning into now since they've been remodeling the shopping center, rebranding it as The Village, all that marketing stuff. But yeah it's all pretty exciting changes. I guess the core San Antonio Shopping Center--Walmart, Lucky, New Tung Kee, whatever that giant mall is... awkward is it Kohl's now?, GameStop, etc, these have always been the same. Sometimes the boutiques near Trader Joes seem to switch around quite a bit, but all in all, I think it's a pretty nice hangout place. Pearl Cafe is there if you want a drink, there are always ample and plentiful parking spots so that's never a problem. It's definitely not a hot hangout place or anything, but a great place to be to run your errands and eat a quick meal. read more

I come here on several occasions and multiple times during the week to do my grocery shopping at T.Joe's, Safeway, workout at 24 hr fitness, grab a quick sandwich at subway or an elaborate burger at counter . Its my one stop shop for all my daily necessities although I'd definitely avoid going to walmart in this location. Now a days i see police patrol all day and the place looks like a ghetto....Other than walmart, there is Target and its pretty small (Separate review written for target) ...... and Kohl's, Ross, BevMo, Milk Pail and some decent thai and korean food places. I seem to discover new hidden stores every time and i may have skipped to mention a couple in my list as well. Right across the road from Safeway is Whole Foods- Los Altos. So its highly convenient so come here and to see that all my immeadiate shopping needs are taken care of. read more

The shopping center has a few interesting places to stop off in before heading to Castro street. Pearl cafe is actually one of the prime spots to visit with good food and those pearl milk drinks. With a Kohls nearby it's a pretty good place to go and Shop after a bite to eat. With make your own t-shirt shops and a GameStop there's some fun to be had here. The loss of neutral ground arcade and a few other shops, and the construction for the new Safeway and possible apartment building, have dampened the San Antonio shopping center. Walmart, if we're being honest makes a mess out of most areas, and its no exception here. None the less; kohls, GameStop, daiso, pearl cafe, and a few other key "I need a shop like this" stores help make this block in mountain view the only other place besides down town on Castro worth spending time, and money. read more

I'd have to agree with some other reviewers. There's not much to inspire me to go here except that I do shop at TJ's reluctantly. I say reluctantly because it's close to home & parking sucks as usual. I try to go to Sunnyvale but wow, why is parking so problematic here in Mountain View? Go figure. I don't do Safeway & when I do, I go to my local Shoreline one for scripts. Thaz it. So there's Counter's burgers which I have yet to have a good experience with in Palo Alto or Mountain View. Fidelity scores because I use them. Kudos there. Don't do Starbucks. Sure hope the shopping center does better in the long run because in the short run of it's opening, I for one, haven't any any need to visit other then necessary. As was the case w/the old San Antonio Shopping Center. Too bad. And no, whatever 21 clothes ain't gonna bring this boomer in to visit either. My boomer butt bucks go elsewhere, right along w/my waistline. ;-) read more

I agree with the other posters. The apartments are great and its nice to have a 24 hour grocery for the rare moments when I need it. I especially love the Pacific Grill and the milk tea place. I work out and then I go to Luus Noodles. I hope they do a better job of accomodating parking IE parking garage and also better accomodation for cyclists and pedestrians. I live behind target so it makes no sense to get in the car and drive there.. takes forever to find a parking spot. read more
