This is a cute place with a lovely outdoor seating area. The ambiance, decor and service are all wonderful. The food's not quite there yet. I added chicken to the strawberry salad, it was a decent size and everything was fresh, but the dressing wasn't the best and I had to season at the table to bring the flavor out. I also had the unsweetened ice tea which tasted delicious, the drinks area is especially cute with nice glasses and unusual ice chest. The blueberry and cream cheese pie wasn't that nice, although the slightly sweetened cream on the top was delicious and it was the only flavor they had on offer today. J had the grilled cheese sandwich and Tomato Basil soup. That came with only half a sandwich he was still hungry. This cafe looks like a house on the outside but they've turned it into the most precious pie shop and cafe! The outside has several different seating options, there's a sunroom with a bench and small table in an entryway, and lots of vintage looking tables and chairs throughout the inside. The cookies are super fluffy and soft, my latte was sweet and perfect, and my friend's gluten-free pie (TRULY gluten-free for her celiac needs) and very delicious! Cute place but not attentive at all. I mentioned the coffee was out and they didn't bother to make more. We were served breakfast without forks or napkins. After we asked they came back with napkins and forks but not for everyone. Ran out of normal flour tortillas so one of us had to have a gluten free tortilla. They did not like the taste. I was done with my first cup of coffee and they were out so I asked again and they went in back and made some. They do not have the cream out at the coffee bar so you have to ask for it. Not sure if this is a family business but there is an opportunity for a little training. This is my second visit. Kind of the same on the first visit. What a fanastic place! A great addition to Decatur! This bakery has an excellent selection of pastries including Scottish & British Scones. For those who do not know, Scottish Scones are close to thumbprint cookies (see pics), British scones are the triangle shape you are more familiar with! They also occasionally offer breakfast. They sometimes have breakfast burritos and quiche. They were out when we were there. They Do have an incredible Avocado toast, but the bread could be much crispier with that much fat and liquid. We've tried the chicken salad (my personal favorite), BLT, several of the breakfast items -- a burrito masquerading as taco (it's a large taco :) ) and the Sunday special of fried chicken (not every Sunday). Really like this place. The place is in a remodeled older home with farmhouse style. Service and food is pretty quick but it is a place to relax and enjoy your food and company. simple enjoyment with elegance. The experience was not what we expected. Upon arrival we had to guess which door to use since there was no signage. We waited at the counter to be help, when the employee showed she simply asked if we were ready to order. We told her it was our first time and didn't know it was counter service. There was no pie I know that the name of the place was named after her mother but it's misleading enough that I would keep a supply of pie. The owner is very friendly. Absolutely delicious! She was the sweet lady who provided her tacos and pastries to by the grace of coffee and then she finally got to open her own place. I adore what she's done with it. Wow, we were so looking forward to trying this restaurant out. Two Saturdays ago, we found this restaurant on the internet. It said they opened at 7:00 so we were there a 6:30 so we might miss the breakfast crush. Don't pay attention to the open at 7:00, they aren't open until 9:00. We weren't going to wait so went elsewhere. So woke up this morning but didn't get there until 9:00. No one in the parking lot, we were so excited about trying again to eat at the restaurant. We get there and there are only 3 items on the menu that we could order. Everything else was going to take a while to be ready and she could take orders then. Really, why then do you open at 9:00 if you don't have things ready to eat!!! Would two more hours help??? Couldn't even eat off the lunch menu!!! This wasn't mentioned on their online menu either!!! We won't be trying to eat here again. They are forever scarred and scratched off our Saturday breakfast eateriies. I hope they get their act together and get the online open time changed and their menus inside changed to reflect the correct opening time much less what time they might have menu items ready for people to eat.
