This is the most fun place in Bridgeport TX There was a blonde little waitress man. She is hilarious! She took care of us. We all laughed great time, and heck we hadn't even had anything to drink. However, the bar down the street had an eight-year-old standing outside not sure which was funnier. If this waitress recommends things to you, don't trust her she lied about all of it. Took a motorcycle ride out from Fort Worth. Honestly, our first plan was a different place but it was closed permanently. Glad we chose plan B. It was a rare beautiful day in December and chose to sit on the nice porch. The server was right there and grabbed our drink orders first. She recommended the fried pickles so we got those to start. Loved the fried pickles. Plenty of them and great crispy texture, Along with just tasted good. I chose the mushroom onion burger and substituted onion rings. Only a $1.99 upcharge. I was hoping it would taste as good as it looked when she brought it out. It did! Those onion rings were huge Abe cooked perfectly! The burger was cooked well and tasted good. My only minor complaint is I hate it when a bun overshadows the burger patty. Make the patty slightly bigger. But it tasted really good! I'll come back here again! read more

Came here with a large group recently. There were about 20 of us & we might have overwhelmed them for a minute when our big bus pulled up & we all piled out. We took up most of the tables inside (but they also have ample outdoor seating). We have a vegan, vegetarian & pescatarian in our group &, surprisingly, we all ate. The vegan (me) ended up ordering veggie tacos (add mushrooms) and extra crispy tots and they were really good! (Now, did I ask if the tortillas were vegan or specify no butter on the veggies? No. In such a small town, I wasn't going to push my luck & I'm ok with that.) it looked like there were 2 waitresses for the whole place & just one of them seemed to be handling our group. Food was great! My family enjoyed their breakfast. We got the southern scrambler, omelette, pancakes, French toast, and waffles. All of it was delicious. They had a great patio and we were able to bring our dog with us. Definitely recommend and we will be visiting again when we are in the area. read more

Disappointing all the way around. Got seated and forgotten about for ten minutes. Wifey had to get up and say something. Turns out our waitress was the one who greeted us and said we could sit anywhere. Waitresss never checked to see if everything was OK. Wife had steak fingers and was not impressed. Also asked for ranch that never came. I had the smoked meatloaf. I've had smokier food elsewhere. Not only was it not bursting with flavor, it was barely moist. Both of our servings of fresh cut fries were good, but have had even better, elsewhere, many times. Bottom line is the waitress should consider a career change. read more

Have always enjoyed coming here until yesterday because of one rude waitress (who wasn't even our designated waitress!). was the only customers in the establishment and sat a previously occupied table so we asked for a quick wipe down of it. A girl (not even our waitress) came out and missed a whole third of the table. Our waitress arrived and as we ordered drinks we asked for the rest of the missed table to be cleaned please. Waitress goes in to get our drinks and the same girl as before appears saying "What did I miss? You can watch your attitude next time. I'm about to get off anyway." Literally gave her no attitude until then when I told her you missed a third of the table and you're the one giving us attitude when you're not even our waitress. Girl huffs off and waitress returns with drinks. At this point we just want to leave and go to pay for drinks we didn't even drink when that same girl says "just leave it's fine" because she's getting off. They need to watch who they hire because that one girl screwed a nice waitress from her own tips and lost two loyal customers. read more

Stopped for dinner tonight after hearing the burger centric menu had expanded with new dishes. Clean but slightly dark dining room is small but could fit about 60 people. Sat right away and drink order taken in minutes. Ice cold beer was the ticket tonight. Order the app sampler: cheese tots, onion rings and brisket nachos. All were good, although brisket tasted a little old. Mains were smoked meatloaf and steak fingers. The meatloaf was very good, smoked just right and a good sized piece. The sides were not good; masked potatoes were cool temp wise and the Mac & cheese was cold. Steak fingers were seasoned well, cooked perfect, and tasted very good. Sides were corn and fried okra, both were well prepared. Overall, I would go back but wouldn't wait in line. read more

Food was horrible. We ordered the brisket tacos and chicken fajita tacos. Meat on both was probably left over from day before and reheated on a griddle. Brisket was greasy and fatty. Chicken was dry and tough. When the manager asked if everything was ok and we explained it wasn't he did not take anything off. There was only one bite taken out of the brisket tacos. I absolutely love five boys! They have an incredible burger selection, and the burgers are really good. Their fries are great. The service is great. The atmosphere is chill inside and out. But my favorite part is their gluten free burger bun. It's rare to be able to find a gluten-free bun in a small town, but theirs is amazing I come to five boys anytime I'm in Bridgeport. Atmosphere was good, not too busy on a Friday night at 6 because of a home football game . Each got a burger which were cooked well but not "overdone". Patties were a little on the loose/messy side. Got the Bacon Gouda burger which had several slices of crispy bacon on it, and the Avocado Bacon burger which was similarly topped. Fried Okra was not homemade but still decent, Mac and cheese was tasty-pasta was al-dente. Gravy was a bit on the thin side, so keep that in mind if you order anything chicken fried :) Beers were cold, service was not bad, but considering they weren't busy could have been better. Overall not a bad experience, but we had higher hopes after reading reviews. read more

My husband and I ate at 5 Boys this evening after the jeep parade was over. We ordered the chicken fried steak. It had fantastic flavor and was actually a real piece of meat... not processed. The macaroni and cheese was quite tasty .. and best of all .. they had sweet tea!! The service and patrons were all very friendly. Great family atmosphere.Win win!! read more

So, we were on the hunt for the best chicken fried steak, and found a Yelp review, so we tried this place. We started with fried pickles, which were thick cut and lightly breaded. But greasy as hell (your grease is the wrong temp). In my photo, you can see the pool of grease in the tray! EWWW! Not the best chicken fry that we have ever had. It was cooked to death, and then thrown back in to cook for 10 more minutes. My wife took 2 bites, and didn't eat any more. I was lured by the siren call of a blueberry bourbon bacon sandwich. The waitress asked me if I wanted everything on it! I replied no onions. I guess onions were the only thing that came on it, because it was a less than a 1/4 lb piece of hamburger meat with no color, flavor, or seasoning at all. Dead (see pics). Blueberry jam all over the place, but surprisingly small amount of flavor. If it weren't for bacon and jalapeno bun, I probably wouldn't have eaten mine either. I have been a few times over the years, haven't written reviews because I don't like negative reviews.... but we probably won't be back. 2 STARS. read more

The food at the place is decent the waitresses are dumb it took me 15 minutes this morning to explain that I only wanted chicken fried steak and hash browns and no one in this place could comprehend this? Really glad we randomly decided to walk in and try this place. It was so good, we came back the next day so our kids could try it too. We ordered the same things because they are so delicious! I'm not really a creature of habit and like to try different things but the chicken sandwich is breaded and fried so perfectly that I didn't feel like straying just yet to something new. At first glance, I thought this was just a burger place (no issues with that) but they do have some other things on the menu that I will get around to trying some day. But for now, I'd say five boys ranch is a definite "must try" place and the staff is friendly too! read more

Confession time. We were headed for Sweetie Pie's Ribeyes in Decatur. Then I told Mike, every restaurant on this trip is going to be new to us. YELP, of course, sent us here. A taste test at any restaurant is their chicken fried steak. Bring it on! Well, the chicken fry covered half the plate, and the other half was grilled squash and zucchini. Life is SO good to me! As I do at every restaurant, I immediately asked for "more gravy please "! Love my gravy! The chicken fry and grilled veggies were both deeeeeelicious! No frozen patty here. It's the real deal! Definitely give this place a try if you haven't yet. The food is delicious! The patio is fantastic! The staff is friendly and service is great! So far I have not found anything here that I don't like. Today I had the boudin balls, onion rings, and the grilled chicken sandwich on the jalapeño sourdough bun and everything was awesome! The chicken was fresh and juicy with great flavor and that bun was to die for. Our waiter, Jocelyn, was quick, kind, and attentive. We also met the owner's brother and he was so personable. We love this little restaurant in downtown Bridgeport! Just a nice simple menu with a variety. This is my husband's favorite spot for omelettes and I love the Texas shaped waffle! I've only been here for dinner once and I had the smoke meatloaf which was very delicious! Also have a really good pricing making it affordable to eat out! This is the best place ever to get southern style cooking and burgers! We got the blueberry burger and the Gouda burger. I loved the blueberry burger but it was a little odd with the texture because there were chunks of blueberries in it. But I did like the flavor of the sauce. The Gouda burger was very flavorful and filling. The highlight of the meal was definitely the loaded tater tots with brisket. We have been craving it ever since. read more
