It was very busy on a Friday evening and the crowd seemed to be teens and adults. Very few small kids. The servers come to the lanes to take orders, and the tablet at the bowling lane has a button to press for their help. Since it was taking long, we just ordered drinks from the bar nearby. The food, ordered later was simple, but good. -Sunset strawberry sangria is good, but could use more strawberry flavor. - Mozzarella sticks are no different then what you'd get at the grocery store and for the price the amount given isn't enough. - Wings, got a double order, 1/2 sweet chili, 1/2 garlic parmesan. I've often seen the latter on menus and steered clear because it didn't sound appealing. However, since it was ordered (for the group) I figured I'd give it a try. It was Soooooo good that I before I left I placed a to go order. Servers and staff were overall kind, but very busy. Lots of running and trying to take care of everyone. Walking in, we were shocked at how expensive everything was. You are literally spending $50+ per hour per person. We did the mini golf. The course was very small. 18 holes in the dark with glow in the dark balls. It started out great but when we reached around hole 6 a group of 12-15 teenagers came in and started speed running through the course.. they were hitting their balls all over the place. My daughter and I had to step aside for and let them speed their way through. After that there were a couple of older kids that were hitting their balls very hard and they were flying off the course.. one of those balls almost hit my daughter in the head.. they really need some supervision in the mini golf room. Otherwise somebody is going g to get seriously injured... Next we want to the arcade section. My daughter loved the VR experience items. But at $5+ dollars for 5 mins.... It adds up really fast. They have a little store where you can get prizes in exchange for tickets. But the big problem is that there are very few machines that actually give you tickets when you play them. There were a couple of claw machines that gave you a chance to win 100'or so tickets. But when you need thousands of tickets to buy anything.. you are literally spending a lot of money. Most of the machines were claw based machines where you could win a prize or the coin push machines which are hard to win anything out of. Overall, I was not a big fan of Apex. It is very expensive for what you get.. you can easily spend over $100 per hour in this place to try all the different things. Unless you have a big promo or coupon that gives you a huge discount.... It is not worth the money. The other big issue is that there is very little supervision of all the kids running around. Most of the staff look like they are high school students working a summer job. However, the rides are really the only thing I have to say that's positive. Ride operations were poor at best. They take a long time to load and unload, with the only exceptions being Griffon and InvadR. The worst offender was Tempesto. In fact, the entire Festa Italia area had pretty poor operations, which is unfortunate since it has some of the best rides in the park. Tempesto is a very short ride, and in the time it took them just to load one train, it could have completed about eight cycles. I also found that Apollo's Chariot and Pantheon were pretty restrictive for larger riders. I'm not that big of a guy, and they had to squeeze me into both of them. (Also, there's a ride operator at Apollo's Chariot who will, without warning, shove the restraint into your thighs and is apparently not afraid to risk permanent damage to your future lineage.) I can't imagine having to push a wheelchair around this park. There are extremely steep hills everywhere. So if you're planning to visit and have a mobility disability, all I've got to say is: good luck. The food was kind of mid, with one exception: the pizza pretzel. That was actually pretty good. To sum it all up, if you only care about rides, this park is a great option. However, when it comes to literally everything else, it's pretty weak.

It was a sort of werewolf story-line. Grover was a favorite for the littler kids over 38-in tall, with several drops that were dramatic enough for them. Parents rode-along. Oscars was just for the littlest who can walk. Parents rode-along on this one, too. Some spinning. Some rocking. That's the experience we were after. Nice!

It's been running for over 24 hours now and thank goodness the room has dried out. The smell still lingers but not as strong. The maintenance guy even said "oh my gosh this is terrible. I feel it and smell it, I'm so sorry!" I rented a cabana overnight and paid at the front desk in the morning. Went downstairs to Check In and was told "I'm sorry all the cabanas are full. Someone made a mistake and didn't reserve yours" I was pissed and my daughter was disappointed. We had a cabana yesterday and wanted another one today. The manager offered an apology and a "free game of bowling or whatever you want." I was also told "I will look into your reservation and see what kind of discount I can give you." Of course I got refunded for the cabana, but no reservation discount. What I wanted was the cabana I reserved and paid for. What I got was a round table, a few chairs, towels and a free locker rental. The gesture was nice but definitely not sufficient. Our table was placed in front of two empty cabanas, although they had someone's name on them by, 4:45 PM no one had showed up for either one. Somehow I doubt they came at 5 PM when the park closes at 8 PM. One of those could've been mine! The internet...it's horrible. Been here 3 days and have been able to access internet probably 2 or 3 times. I have work emails to answer and can't. See pic of the message I keep getting. I tried airplane mode on and off, tried rebooting my iPhone, tried "forgetting the network"...tried everything the front desk staff said to try. $1200 for 3 nights and I can't even access my work email on a regular basis. I was offered a $50 refund on my stay because of this. We'll see if that even shows up. The only way I'm even able to write this review at 1:45am as I lay here in bed, is because it miraculously connected for the moment I don't even care about the $50, I just need the Internet like I get at every hotel that I visit. I swear, it's just been one thing after another here. I cannot wait to get back home. As much as I want to like this GWL location I just don't. I'm really looking forward to visiting Kalahari in November when it opens. This was my first time at the Chesapeake wine fest and it rained all day!! What that means is the…read morecrowd that arrived are dedicated wine enthusiasts like myself. I felt at home and with great friends! There were local wineries from all over the state as well as an international area. Food trucks and local vendors were there to give me a break from the delicious tastings. And the live band (didn't catch the name) was amazing and kept the mood up throughout the dreary weather. I'm looking forward to next year's festival and thinking about getting a tent in case of rain again. Overall, glad we took a chance and marking our calendars for the next one!

We opted for the VIP tickets because in my wine expo/tasting experience, it is worth the extra cost. The VIP room had 3 food pairings throughout the event. This is always nice because I always learn something from talking to the wine makers or Sommeliers. For instance, I learned that Riesling and BBQ pairs well together. Mind Blown! But you had to be in the VIP room to try and then you'll see why it works. The VIP room also had unlimited cheese, fruits, and crackers. You can't been that. If you are tasting over 100+ wines you will need all the snacks you can get. If it wren't for the VIP room, you would have had to bring your own snacks OR buy it at the concession stand, which adds up. Needless to say I am always an advocate of going to this things with the VIP tickets or serious coordination with other people to bring your own food and get in on a table. Which is like $400 for 8 people, however if planned accordingly it could be a lot fun. Wine was not the only thing here! They had all sorts of jewelry, chocolates (liquored chocolates!) and Olive Oil tastings. So..if you needed a break from the wine, there were other things to taste.
