2/14/2025- Celebrated Valentine's day, the day after with a nice, friendly game of indoor mini golf with my husband. We arrived around 10 minutes after it opened and it was already starting to get busy. You can pay to play at the desk next to the bumper cars which is closest to the ropes course, escape rooms, axe throwing and go kart racing. They do offer military discounts with an ID, just ask. They will give you a ball color of your choice for game use when you pay. Clubs are at the entrance to the right of the golf course along with the score cards and pencils on the wall. I love how they have a place at each hole number to place the score card and pencil which also provides a surface to write down your score. The course is under black lights which the edges of the course are outlined. 9/2024 This was pleasantly fun! However, it was multi -sensory overload for me the moment I walked in. We were there to celebrate my niece's birthday as a belated birthday treat for her & we had family come in out of town, who also recently had a birthday. If you do research on their website you will discover they have A LOT to do! But like everyone has mentioned activities are individually priced. I feel like the more you book, the more you should get some combo discount. They do offer 15% off for military with an ID, but not online. Caveat - It's only in person with proof of ID and you can't come in earlier in the week or in advance and pay for attractions for the future and get the 15% military discount off. It has to be purchased & used on the same day for it to be applied. There are no military discounts on Dark Ride. Some attractions you need to book in advance online like bowling, escape rooms, axe throwing, & the simulators. Check their website for any changes. Saturdays are popular, so I signed a contract for advanced scheduled attractions so that my niece and cousin could participate in the activities they wanted, to prioritize & not be disappointed or waiting a long time to participate. You do get a discount if you do so but a signed contract & payment is due prior. You don't even have to come in person to do it. Either call or email for your inquiries and they can work something out for you. We didn't book a party although you can do that but a food minimum is required and a reserved room is only for 45 minutes. Skyla, one of the events coordinator made things super easy & convenient to book. She was very helpful answering questions. I had never been so I wasn't familiar where attractions were located. Once I found out, I planned all the activities on the same floor back to back for convenience & chose available times that were roughly 30 minutes apart. We just showed up, checked in at the desks located close to that attraction. Silas, one of the managers came to greet me and informed me where to go. He was pleasant and willing to answer any questions. We did the 30 minute Zombie Research Lab escape room. You want to check in 20 minutes prior to your reserved time. It was fun and we broke out with 7 min & 22 seconds left with a group of six. They have quality props and hints pop up on the tv monitor. Four of us participated in the ropes course. You're allotted 15 minutes to do whatever elements you want. They make you empty out all your pockets for safety since you're 40 feet above the ground over the bowling alley. I'm not sure if it was because we booked it as a group under a contract that it was only the 4 of us at the one session, but that was nice. There were maybe one or two elements that were challenging. But it was still fun! Our 3rd activity was axe throwing which is a flat fee regardless of the number of people, max of 6 per lane for an hour. Darrel was our instructor and he was fun! We really enjoyed ourselves and with some of us he really tried his best to help land some throws but some just couldn't. There were alot in our group that didn't participate but they were able to enjoy us throwing axes. My niece was killing it with her throwing skills. Our last activity was an hour of bowling. These are time sensitive so you better arrive 15 min earlier to get your rental shoes and pick your ball. We did the VIP lane which is an additional price but great because there are only 4 VIP lanes and they are away from the rest of the lanes. You can still see lanes 5 and on but there's a glass wall in between & it's a lot quieter. The seating is comfortable and enough to fit six people. Bowling is also a flat fee for an hour or more up to six people. Plus an additional $5 pp for shoe rentals. But if you have a military ID you can get up to six shoe rentals for free. You can also order food at your lanes but I don't think anyone came by to take our order. Unless someone in our group went up & ordered. Overall we spent from 2pm -7pm there. We even squeezed in a hologate game of Zombie Resurrection which is an adventure in itself! read more

I recently attended a birthday party at Apex Entertainment and I was genuinely impressed! We came in on a busy Saturday afternoon, and even with the crowds, the staff kept everything running smoothly. First off, this place is HUGE. There's truly something for everyone. We started at the bowling alley (our main event), and the lanes were clean, the scoring system was intuitive, and the party host made sure our group was set up and having fun. Despite a lot of guests bowling at once, wait times were reasonable and the lanes had comfortable seating areas for everyone to relax between turns. Apex has a gigantic arcade, axe throwing, bumper cars, an immersive dark ride, escape rooms, high-speed go-kart racing, Hologate VR, laser tag, mini golf, pool tables, a ropes course, and even sports simulators! If you can't find something you enjoy here, it probably doesn't exist. Everything was well-maintained, and the staff at each attraction were friendly and helpful, making sure everyone knew how to play and was having a good time. Food and drinks definitely exceeded my expectations for an entertainment venue. The bars are fully stocked, and the food menu ranges from classic favorites to more upscale options like pizza, burgers, wings, and salads were all fresh and tasty. Our server was attentive, had great recommendations, and was super quick with drink and food orders, which made our party even more enjoyable. Apex Entertainment is located in the Town Center area of Virginia Beach. It would be hard to miss seeing it if you pass it along Columbus St. or Independence Blvd. You may remember this spot as being a Dick's Sporting Goods store beforehand. There are several free parking garages, and the Maroon Garage (4621 Columbus St.) is the closest garage to this place, and you can access the place without going out into the weather either if it's raining and such. My visit here was on February 8, 2025. I've passed the place many times and have heard about them on The Hampton Roads Show. When you come inside, the place is huge. You will see lots of arcade style games as you enter. I was here with others at my job for an outing. We came to do some bowling here. While waiting for everyone else to get here, I scoped out the place as a whole to see what they had. The first floor has the activities such as bowling, VR games, arcade style games and more. The second floor had a sports and golf simulator. That area in general seemed to be the spot for parties and such. You can also look up towards the ceiling and see what looked like a ropes course. After scoping the place out, I came back downstairs. Not everyone was here yet, but about five minutes afterwards, everyone was here. It's great to meet up with everyone as many of us work remotely. We all went up to the bowling desk to get things going, including bowling shoes. The lane was reserved ahead of time, so it was a pretty seamless process. It had been quite a while since I had done any bowling. Most places that are only a bowling alley have smoking available in there, and I try to avoid cigarette smoke. It was great that this was a non-smoking place. At the lanes, there was a table QR menu to order food and drinks. We did order some stuff, but it took a while as it seemed like it never got to the right person, so we ended up having to find someone who works there for help. We started our bowling game as we had a one-hour time limit based on how things are set up here. After going through a few rounds, someone finally came over to see if anyone wanted to order anything. I did get one of their burgers. Others had gotten different appetizers. I did see their big pretzel going to another lane. Boy that was a huge pretzel. Mine was the last of the food to come out, but the burger was good and juicy. Overall, it was a good experience here. There wasn't anything that would have screamed a wow factor for me. Except for a few areas, it does seem to be more of a place for kids, especially with the arcade style games all around. The food was good, and it was great to meet up with fellow co-workers. If you are looking for something to do in the town center area when weather isn't the best, this could be an option for you as there are lots of things to choose from. read more

My family and I went there on July 4th and for the most part had a great time. Tyana at the upstairs bar is a doll! We really enjoyed her. I can't remember the name of the woman at the upstairs check-in, but she was also such a darling and very helpful. The downstairs check-in people - not so much. When we went to re-load they were chatting and not attentive to us, we felt like we were bothering them. Then our five year old wandered off. Is that our problem? Absolutely!! The family member who should have been watching him took eyes off. We found him in front of the service desk crying hysterically and terrified. Not one person came from behind that desk to help him, they were just chatting away. We take responsibility for him wandering off, but Apex can do better ensuring all their staff are trained to assist when it's obviously needed. I came here for my first time with my boyfriend and his friends on a Saturday night. We had a bowling reservation and occupied two lanes. We had a fun time bowling, but the bowling facility overall wasn't in the best shape. On the tablet where you enter your names, there's an option to turn on bumpers for each person. It's a really neat feature, but for one of our lanes, it wasn't working properly. The bumpers were up the whole time, and no matter how we adjusted the settings, it still stayed up. I probably would've had it up anyway because I suck LOL but I would've liked to see how I did without it. Our scores screen also randomly displayed "Service is on the way" and would appear and disappear at times. And at one point all of our bowling balls didn't return for both of our lanes, so we had to ask a team member for assistance. All of us ordered drinks (alcoholic & non-alcoholic). I liked how the drink menus stated what's in the drinks and included pictures, but I wish they were more transparent about pricing, as there was no pricing for the drinks on the menu. 4 of my boyfriend's friends had tequila shots and said the taste was really unappetizing compared to the tequila shots they've had elsewhere. My boyfriend enjoyed his watermelon mist cocktail and had 2. One of his friends ordered an unsweet tea but was given a sweet tea instead. When he informed a worker, they condescendingly told him they "don't know what to do" because they don't have unsweet tea. I think this is something that should've been communicated right away when he ordered! I really wanted to enjoy this place more than I did! The overall options are good and can be fun. We did the escape room which was fun! We did axe throwing and that also was fun! Our only issue was when we went to the floor with the escape room to purchase tickets the person who helped us let us know what time the next escape and axe throwing session were and then we asked if we could do the minigolf course before the escape room. She said yes and charged us for it. Originally we had asked for 2 separate checks since we were with friends. But she just did it on one check and split the cost. She gave us only on receipt for it. When we went to the mini golf course there was a wait of about 8-9 people just for the first hole because of how over filled it was with kids. Kids just running around everywhere. We went back and just asked for a refund for the mini golf and we would just wait for the escape room since we didn't realize it was that packed with kids in there. We only had 25 minutes to kill and the first hole alone would take us those 25 minutes. The same person did the refund BUT she didn't tell us it would not be a refund but put it on two apex gift cards to use as credit....... She did not communicate this to us at all. She just said here you go and handed us those cards. I asked what is this and she said your refund.... That is not a refund that's like store credit. It was my nephew's birthday and the birthday boy wanted to play games, so APEX came to mind and we met up there to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon. This place reminded me of a Dave & Buster's, but minus the chaos on max. It's a giant complex full of activities. My husband reminded me that a Dick's Sporting Goods had been there many moons ago (I can't remember that far back. - Parking - They have their own parking garage, so it was super convenient. Especially since it was raining. You don't have to go outside. - Play - Activities that I could see include: arcade, axe throwing (2 lanes), bowling, bumper cars, escape rooms, go kart racing, laser tag, mini golf, pool tables, ropes courses. We decided to take the kids to the mini golf, as the rope courses was occupied by a birthday party. The course is long enough to feel like you did something. It's $12/person. - Noms - They have a restaurant/snack bar inside with table service. We ordered the regular cheeseburger and it wasn't bad at all! The French fries were crispy and the burger was pretty "fancy" for an entertainment complex. Also, one of our friends ordered the pretzel and WHOA...my eyes popped out of my head. I had not read the pretzel description but they basically claim that it's the largest pretzel in the state and I can believe it. It was massive and the serving size was the equivalent of a loaf of bread, if not more. It was actually pretty good and the beer cheese that came with it was also great! Definitely a great app to order when you are with a large group of friends to share. Overall, great place to take the fam to entertain yourselves for a few hours. Lots of activities to choose from. This place is decent, nothing to really brag about. We were in town for a track meet and wanted to meet up with some of the team to have a little fun. We came around 6:00 pm on a Friday. We checked out the bumper area which was full and only usable in time slots along with the go karts, high course, and bowling. We were told we would have to wait 30 min to access the areas. We opted to load game cards and let the kids run around playing games. The games take a lot of points to play. The kids were done playing very quickly. We then went upstairs to check out the go karts. The kids were all too short. I'm 5'2 and I almost didn't make the cut! (lol). The kids decided to do the high rope course. They loved it. It's not that big so they lapped around it several times. Once their time was up we decided to leave. They have a prize room. Which you can exchange your tickets for prizes. This is the most wild and chaotic places. Right when you walk in, it's incredibly loud, dark, and has bright flashing lights everywhere. My friend had her daughter's bday here, which she rented the VIP bowling lanes, but we had zero service and had to go wait in line and then order at the bar (someone said a lot of the servers either didn't show up today/called out or quit, which speaks volumes about how management treats their employees, IMHO). This place is huge. We came here on a busy Saturday afternoon to try out the Go Karts and bowling as a family. We arrived and went to do Go Karts first. The line and wait time wasn't terrible. We were able to get our race time within 10 mins. The race track itself was awesome. I wish it offered more loops and turns but overall it was really neat. For $30, I do wish it was a longer ride. But we had a great time. The bowling was nice as well. Seats were comfy, lanes nice. It was very busy at the bowling lanes. We had to wait an hour so we went to grab food near the bar area while waiting. Pizza was delicious. Service was quick and very friendly. Pricing is okay. We all noted that this is pretty much a Dave & Buster's that we're familiar with. Lots of activities, including black light mini golf, bumper cars (there were six cars and the whole space was about 50 feet by 50 feet), axe throwing, bowling alley and plenty of arcade games. This star is specifically for the dining services that my family and I dealt with on the evening of December 30, 2025. My family and I literally waited 1.5 HOURS for our food to arrive. It was not even crowded during this time. Our waitress did not ever update us. I kept getting up from the table to ask what was going on. The ONLY person that helped us was a gentleman named Jamie. Jamie isn't even a waiter, he is a BUSBOY. He kept asking if my family and I were okay and would go back to the kitchen to see what was taking long. Very, very helpful. 3.5 Stars but rounded up to 4 for all of the options. This place has soooo much to offer: arcade games, bowling, laser tag, bumper cars, escape rooms, ropes course, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few. Everything is priced separately so good luck trying to limit a young child when everything around them is bright and inviting. I visited on a Saturday evening around 6:30 with a group of 4 adults. We had the intention of doing an escape room and bowling but were let down when all of the escape rooms were "out of service until further notice" and the wait for a bowling lane was over 2 hours. We didn't want to leave without doing something so we decided on arcade games. You pay to put money on a game card that you swipe at each game. There is a reloading station that seemed pretty straight forward. There were less games than Dave & Busters but they still had most of the classics. They have security checking ID's at the entrance I'm assuming to ensure kids are chaperoned if they are younger than 18. There are vending machines available mainly for bottled drinks though. Overall, it was a nice experience but we were really let down by the escape rooms being closed and bowling being overcrowded. It is pretty pricey so make sure you check out prices before going and try to have a game plan in mind. read more

Attractions include laser tag, bowling, VR/arcades, escape rooms, mini golf, bumper cars, axe throwing, obstacle course, and indoor go carting. Pricing is a la cart, so cost can get crazy quickly. There's a bar and restaurant onsite too. Our "Yes day" event was go carting, 3.5/5 $100 for 4 people. If drivers are under 16 (2 in our party), you must race before 6p. Payment and waiver signing was easy; onboarding was a tad unclear and scattered. Hard to hear instructions at times, which didn't give my wife warm and fuzzies. Haha. The track was pretty fun, wished the cars could go a tad faster and that the race length time was a tad longer. But of course there were some fools who mixed drinking and gaming which required a visit from security and the police, but what do expect. As a single mom of a 6 year old who frequents Chuck E. Cheese, this place was amazing!! It was my first time in this establishment and my son and I had tons of fun. We had gone with my cousin and his family. My son and I had flew from Cali and I wanted the kids to enjoy a place like Chuck E. Cheese. My cousin had recommended this place and Apex did not disappoint. I like that I was able to purchase play cards through the machines. Most of the games that the kids played that day were working and the prizes that were available were decent. We didn't have the opportunity to do anything else other than play arcade games, but we did have a blast with the short time that we were there. Visited with several family members during a reunion vacation a few weeks ago. We were a large party- ages 10 to almost 80 - and everyone had a great time. The mini golf was a full family favorite. The youngest did the rope course and loved it. We also got some dinner here- the food was decent enough for the type of venue. What really stood out to me was the great service. Every staff member I encountered was friendly, well informed about the attractions, and doing an excellent job. Our bartender (I wish i caught her name- dark brown curly haired thin young girl with glasses) was working the dining area basically on her own and had a fantastic attitude and kept it moving. Another employee, Jen , was super nice to me when I took a break from mini golf because it was a little hot in that room for me. She was genuinely interested in making sure I was ok. There were two Katelyns working the rope course who I trusted completely with my 10 year old goddaughter. In the mood to play some games and try a new place so I brought my daughter, brother and mother here for a good time. there is a huge parking lot so parking really is not an issue. Upon walking in there is literally not one person there to help you understand if you need to buy cards how everything works you pretty much got to figure it out on your own. Luckily there was a security person that we happen to run across and ask him exactly what we should be able to do. Basically you go to the machine and you purchase your cards however there are no indications about how many points you getting for your money so you're pretty much winging it. This place is very similar to Dave and busters but they offer things that Dave's doesn't such as axe throwing, this bungee maze walk, bumper cars and the place itself is huge very spacious. After playing some games we wanted to do bumper cars and couldn't because they shut it down for whatever reason.. so we left. They do have a bar upstairs and a bar downstairs and they do serve food. NOT WORTH THE TIME OR $$$ Me and my two friends came here to bowl but wanted to grab a bite to eat first. We never made it to any of the attractions due to horrible service at the bar/food area downstairs. 1st off. We walked up to the bar and wasn't acknowledged. After a few minutes we sat down and after waiting for people to clear out we called out to a server, who promptly replied that there was a group that had been waiting longer than us. Understandable, however he could have greeted us and let us know the situation instead of us feeling ignored. When the first round of food came to the bar area we proceeded to walk to a table, THATS WHEN the bartender decides to aggressively announce paying before leaving the actual bar. The only way to order food is to go to the bar, but the QR codes are on the tables!! The food was okay and things were looking better until the same bartender messes up a drink and decides to send the manager who comes over demanding we put a card on file. Hence this after we have nearly completed our meal, we simply ordered a dessert and would then close out the tab. The manager did not inquire about our dining experience or even ask why the card initially was not on file. If a card on file was needed initially then the bartender should have followed policy from the beginning when we first ordered. Not send a manager because you made a mistake with a drink order We were going to order something else but decided to close out and leave. I highly don't recommend this place. Interestingly enough when we first arrived we asked where the food area was and was instructed to go downstairs, just to see a bar area upstairs serving food. This place is just all around awful. The negative reviews are accurate. Bowling lanes don't work properly (waste of time/money) service is horrendous wow! Drinks were so weak they aren't worth buying. Management was very apologetic with how often we needed help in regards to our lane that we were even moved to another but the same nonsense kept happening. I will absolutely NEVER return or recommend this place to anyone. Take the kids and yourself elsewhere for fun. read more

This entertainment venue opened last Friday for the first time. If you recall, Dick's Sporting Goods was in this spot for a few years, but they did not last long. Luckily, huge entertainment complex, Apex decided to join the great City of Virginia Beach. I visited this past Saturday night with my babe, my daughter and her friend... teens. We parked in the garage that's connected to Apex. Parking wasn't an issue, but the venue was indeed packed this opening weekend. We arrived about 6pm. We parked on the 3rd floor and took the elevator down to the ground floor and entered the complex on the 1st floor. Upon walking in a few people were standing outside, but just hanging out, no soliciting. Entering on the first floor, we entered near the arcade part of the complex. At this point, it appears the arcade/game section has the same games as another local complex, but there are different ones as well. I did see a few virtual games and some other games that I was not familiar with. All ages were present, from newborn babies to people over 50. Everyone seemed excited! Because it is the opening weekend, things will happen as far as hiccups. We did witness parties that lost items and other mishaps... We wanted to test of the go kart track, but there was an one hour wait. Alongside arcade games, go karting, there is also a full bowling section, zip lining, simulators, billiards, bumper cars, ax throwing and maybe more, but this is all that comes to mind. I recommend you check this place out, but if you are judgmental, you should wait about 30 days to give the staff time to adjust to the newness and work out the kinks. Plenty of parking. Landstown High School along with all other high schools in the city use Apex for All Night Grad. Great place to throw an all nighter with a whole lot of graduates. Staff was attentive all night. Food was okay. So many options for the graduates to do. Can't wait until next years event read more
