My girlfriend & I had a couples massage around Valentine's Day and had less than great experience (We had Dan and Kaitlyn). First, when I book an hour massage and include 2 add ons (dry brush and foot scrub), I don't expect them to be bundled within my one hour massage. It should be an hour massage plus the add-ons. My girlfriend was fine with hers (except for reason above), but 2 issues with mine. First, Kaitlyn did ask me if I wanted any area to have special attention and I said my scalp. Just before the massage ended, I think she may have massaged my scalp for a minute. Second thing: my entire massage was with me face down. My girlfriend was asked to roll over, but I remained face down the entire hour. I have never had an hour massage when only one side was treated. Despite that, I gave them each a $20 tip for their time, but neither of us are inclined to return. And if you are thinking they must have been busy that day, no. There was no one in the waiting area when we arrived and one person walked in when we were leaving. The adhesion pops she got out of my back and shoulders must've been just as satisfying for her as it was for me, but I don't know how she was able to find each little knot like that. It's been awhile since I've been here but I had such great experiences when I did I thought I should share them. I had several different masseuse at many different times. At times I went as a "couples appointment" with my then minor daughter. I've had solo massages as well. I feel I need to mention that Adonis went above and beyond each time he worked on me. I suffer from severe chronic pain and have knots in my muscles that feel like bolts of steel. He took the time to listen to me, established that my threshold for pain could sustain the manipulation necessary to work them out and, thankfully, found those knots and worked them without me having to guide him to each and every place of issue. read more

I had my third massage at Dolce Vita Massage and I have to say I really like it here. Christa is amazing. This is a much more relaxed atmosphere than a true spa environment, and I like it better. I find the down to earth feeling very enjoyable. I would be giving it a five star rating based on my massages and the great staff, but there are few things that I would change that makes me rate it a 4. The creams, and oils are very cold at first. It might be a nice added touch to heat them prior to applying them on clients. Especially, on a cold winter day like today. The rooms are a little to bright. There is too much light, which I think makes it difficult to completely relax. This is the only place I have been that they don't dim the lights. While I was relaxed during my massage, another client walked in and I could here his entire conversation. This was unfortunate, it took away from my overall experience. I love the idea of their monthly memberships, and look forward to trying a four -handed massage there. With a few minor adjustments, this would be a 5 star experience. I would recommend trying it if you are looking for a comfortable space and a great massage, and although the other massages that I had were good, a massage by Christa would be my first choice. read more

This is a very long review. I have so far been to this place twice and it really gave me different experiences. The first time is with a very nice Brazilian lady. We talked a lot about our cultures (I am not from US) and customs, and we both found us interested in each other's culture. That's a wonderful experience. I went there second time today. The massager is a young lady from Oxford, CT. I appreciate her effort on trying her best to meet my requirement for strength of pressing and she actually did an equally great job as that brazalian lady in terms of massaging. However when she asked me to turn over, she relaxed my arm muscle for like seconds then suddenly went out of the room saying things like you can get changed and leave. And there is like 10 mins before the finishing time. I asked what happened and is she feeling OK? But she is like you are doing something inappropriate and you shouldnt come back here. I was surprised actually, cos at least I don't consider any of my behaviour inappropriate. And She didn't even tell me that my action does not make her feel good before she left the room. That's rude!! Maybe some of my behaviour does upset her, but she didn't even tell me so. I guess I don't look like the type of person who wouldn't listen to others. I will be 17 years old this summer, so I am not sure if her behaviour would make me feel negative when I face other females through my whole life. And I am really pissed off and upset now. I gave a three star because the past experience amd the receptor today are very nice. The receptor took 20 bucks off when she realised it's not the finishing time. I wouldn't come to this place next time, not only due to the rude behaviour, but also I am going back to my home country this summer. I went for my first massage with Mollie today and it was one of the BEST massages I have ever had (and I've had A LOT of them Over the past 16 years). She was super friendly, kind and personable and she loosened up my back so much. I'm usually not much for when a therapist does my legs (not that i dislike it, i just tend to have them focus on my back), but her technique while massaging my legs was amazing! I made an appointment for a 60 minute massage off of group today with Deborah. The office is part of a larger building and its located in the back, so I had a little hard time finding it. There was no receptionist at the front, but they had signs saying the therapists might be in session, so I just sat in their waiting room until my appointment. Deborah was very friendly and even though we started a bit late, she still did the full hour massage. I am a normally ticklish person, however did not feel as much this time around. I opted for a middle pressure, however probably could have had a deeper pressure. The room was very relaxing and I could have easily fallen asleep right there. Wonderful experience here. I have had both the couples massage with the foot scrub and facial, and a one hour massage on my own. The staff is very professional and friendly here. The rooms are not too small, and the couples massage room is very nicely done. The rooms are warm, and have a new-age, relaxing feel (not cold or clinical). My therapist, Marlyn (not sure if I spelled that right), is excellent. Her level of pressure is exactly what I request, and you can feel her dedication to the craft and client when she performs her work. I found Dolce Vita through Amazon Local, at a great price. I have been looking for a great go-to massage spot, and figured it was worth a shot with the deal. I was able to make my appointment online, which was fantastic and convenient. Her office is conveniently located and easy to find. My first impression of the office was that it was clean and nicely decorated. There's a coffee and water station set up in the waiting room, which is a nice touch. Melanie came out and brought me into the massage room, which was nice and warm, and smelled fantastic. Melanie also gave me the opportunity to select which aromatherapy fragrance I wanted. The massage table was more comfortable than my own bed. Seriously. I could have laid there all day. Even the face-rest-thingy was soft and comfortable. It was also heated, another nice touch. Melanie got to work, and from start to finish this was the BEST massage I have ever had (and I've had a ton.) If you didn't feel her hands, you wouldn't even know she was there. No unnecessary chit-chat, no weird heavy breathing, nice light footsteps - allows you to totally relax and bliss out (which I absolutely did.) I have already started referring people to Melanie. Oh boy, where to start. I got a groupon for a couples massage for my daughter and I. The girls were very nice. The place was very nice, the massages were horrible. We felt like we went in for a 60 minute "back rub " . When we got there we filled out some paperwork that specifically asked how hard on a scale from 1-10 would we like our massage (10 being the hardest) so we went for the 9...just to be safe. The massages we got were more like a 2. Very light and I agree with one of the previous reviews, they did not seem like they knew what they were doing. My masseuse lightly massaged around my shoulder blades, up and down the sides of my back a little...never got to the middle , neck was meh....calves got massaged...no legs, feet a little. The massage oil they use is freezing cold and very thick and tacky....was weird....didn't feel like oil. I did tip them for their time, but not as generously as i normally do. I left and went to my regular massage place and got another massage literally right after. I see a few great reviews....maybe we just got the newbies? ...but we will definitely not be back. read more

I went to Dolce Vita once, having read all the great reviews and was really looking forward to my birthday massage. First the good things: The place is very charming, beautiful décor, music and very nice and friendly staff creating a nice ambiance for a relaxing visit. But, there was a big BUT for me: even though the masseur was very nice and pleasant, the quality of the massage was "meh", average at best. She didn't seem to work with the muscle lines at all ( the way a knowledgeable masseur would), just kind of rubbed me up and down and around for 1 hour. So - did I have a nice and relaxing 60 minutes? Yes. Did I get a good massage that made me feel good during and afterwards? No. Bottom line is - if you like your massage time just to be the quiet relaxing time in nice ambiance this place will suit you, but if you really enjoy a good massage or need a knowledgeable masseur to work on some tension spots, may want to look for a different place ( or a specific masseur at this place that is highly rated for the massage skills. Even though I only tried one masseur, the place is a bit of a drive for me so I will not be coming back to take a chance with another masseur at Dolce Vita ( but I definitely WOULD make the drive if the massage was great!) read more

I bought a Groupon for a "signature" couple's massage and used it about a week ago. I had a woman and my girlfriend said she was fine with a man, so we scheduled when they were available. My massage was good, though the fact that the massage therapist offered me to get the full 60-minutes without the "foo-foo" of the "signature" services when we started (I declined; I wanted to try them) made those services sound over-priced. She may have just meant to offer me the full hour the way most males prefer: massage-only. I'm not entirely sure. Regardless, it was a good massage, not the best I've had, but certainly not the worst, either. I'd say 4 (out of 5) stars. The reason for my 2-star review, however, wasn't for my massage at all, but for my girl's. She wasn't comfortable dressing down too much, but when her (male) massage therapist came in, he asked her to remove her bra. Further, when he held up the sheet for her to turn over, he did it not from the blind side, but from the top, which ensures exposure. While I don't think this was INTENTIONALLY disrespectful or perverted, it certainly was much less professional than I'd expect -- both the suggestion to remove attire AFTER someone "undressed to their comfort" and to hold the sheet in an angle enabling you to see a woman's bare chest -- even if you may have "looked away." Given the intent of a massage, I'd give a 0-star for her, if I could. Hence the 2-star average. I didn't reach out to Cheshire Massage before posting this review, because (1) I thought it was honest and fair and (2) I wasn't looking for some compensation. I was referred to Dolce Vita by a co-worker and I was skeptical as I am with most massage places. I had only ever had three previous massages, but they weren't great and I wasn't comfortable nor did I ever leave feeling relaxed or like the therapist had listened to my needs...until I came to Dolce Vita. I have a desk job and work anywhere from 8-15 hour days and then come home to sit on my computer for another 4 hours doing school work. I went for my first massage with Adonis, and I left feeling the most relaxed that I had in a long time. He understood where I had the most pain and listened to my needs. He was even able to rub the knots out of my hands! He remembers his clients and is extremely personable. I am able to pick out the scent that I prefer. Needless to say, I have been back numerous times as Adonis is incredible and I always feel so relaxed and pain-free when I leave. I signed up for their monthly membership. I love the quaint place of Dolce Vita. You can feel the sense of zen and passion that the owner must feel because as soon as you walk in the door, the scent of essential oils immediately relaxes you. I absolutely love Dolce Vita Massage! I have been going to Melanie since she at her old location (Middlefield I believe) and followed her business to Cheshire because I was addicted. I have always shopped around a lot with massages, usually going wherever I could find a coupon, or wherever I had a gift certificate to. I never found a spa that was worth me paying full price for a massage until Dolce vita. I ended up joining their membership program, and I go once a month for a 60 minute massage, which only costs me $50 a month. I have had Melanie, Adonis, and Holly, and all three were wonderful and concentrated exactly on the areas I asked them to. I always leave feel very relaxed, and I feel rejuvenated and like a million bucks the next day. Austin gave one of the 3 most wonderful massage experiences I've ever had. It is my feeling that his is at the top of the list. He was very soft spoken, professional and a master at his craft.
