The therapy rooms are nice enough, though not posh, and they're equipped comparably to fancier spas. Linens are clean and new. My LMT is Jillian. She's very capable and committed to helping me -- and I'm an extreme case with improperly healed injuries, degenerative disc disease, and so on. Like most LMT's she has a calm and pleasing demeanor that reassures and relaxes me. If you want great service at an affordable price (almost half of what that large National chain charges over in WeHa) in a safe and clean environment, this place is for you. If you want fancy schmancy, this place isn't for you.

Problem was that the massages I had really were not very good. I had two massages with Jessica. Though I told her that I preferred deep pressure, I honestly did not feel anything on my back, even during my ashiatsu massage. I felt like she held back. I asked her to do trigger point treatment prior to my appointment. After my appointment, she told me that another therapist at the place did that technique. She was very sweet and down-to-earth though. During my first massage, my room was next to the door. In the middle of the massage, a bunch of chatty Cathy's barged in for some reason and would not shut up. The sounded like teenaged soccer players. This temporarily disrupted my massage. Another problem was that the sheets on the massage smelled and looked old, and outdated. I agree with another reviewer that it looked more like a doctor's office than a spa. I would maybe come back if I tried a different therapist. I have had better massages with Groupon deals which was ironic because many of the not-so-fantastic treatments advertise on Groupon.

I was visiting family in Connecticut and had tweaked my back pretty badly. I booked with Sammi Therapeutic Massage hoping for some relief and was fully prepared to pay top dollar without expecting much beyond temporary comfort. What I got was completely different. This was not just a massage -- this was actual healing work. She took the time to understand where my pain was, explained what she was doing (because I asked), and truly got in there and worked through the problem. The pain I came in with? Gone. If I had more time in CT, I would've gone back again just to continue the work and honestly get better sleep. She clearly knows the body and her craft. It's a private, by-appointment setup with a single table, and every second of it was worth it. From the comfortable setup to how she incorporated hot stones and intuitively read exactly what my body needed -- it felt intentional and effective. I'm genuinely so glad I didn't end up at another "typical" therapeutic spot that just goes through the motions. I'm sure there are other good places out there, but I don't see myself trying them anytime soon -- I feel like I found my person. The thing I didn't notice initially was that when we first walked in, it felt too warm...maybe? But once things got moving, it was actually perfect. They instructed us to disrobe as much as we were "comfortable", which for me was not disrobing at all. I was actively told by my wife that was NOT, in fact, an option. They also offered to let us use the bathroom across the hall if need be. Pro Tip here: When they offer, if there is ANY part of you that thinks you might even need to use it just a LITTLE, you should do that. Let's just leave it at that. About 5 minutes later they came back in and got started. So they basically like work your back, arms, legs, etc. Then flip you over and do like the front of your legs, arms, head neck etc. It seemed very structured and planned out in a certain way, which I appreciated. Again, having nothing to compare it to, I can only say how it was for me. And for me, it was freaking amazing. The best money I've ever spent on any kind of like "luxury thing". Felt like a completely new man afterward and have been back twice since. Unfortunately, I can't remember the names of the people that worked on us, but at this point, I'm pretty sure that no matter who you get, you'll be happy. I made a last minute appointment for the same day after having a week of tension in my neck and…read moreshoulders that would not go away. I scheduled a one-hour cupping session with Amanda. Being new to cupping, I had no idea what to expect and, wow, it was better than I anticipated. Amanda took her time to talk with me when I arrived to get to know me and explain the cupping process. She spent the beginning of the appointment doing a deep tissue massage, focusing on my areas of tension. This included some stretching, which felt amazing. She was very knowledgeable, commenting on reasons for tension/knots in certain areas and even knowing from massaging my neck that I clench my teeth! At the end of the massage came the cupping. Amanda used stationary cups (the traditional ones that stay in place with suction) as well as cups that she moved around, describing it as almost a "reverse massage." This was a "hurts but feels good" situation for me. I really enjoyed it, and felt like the tension in my neck and shoulders was finally relieved. Amanda suggested an epsom salt bath and rest as cupping is intended to detox the body. I took her suggestions and felt so relaxed. The cupping did leave marks but they went away in about a week. I would absolutely go back for a massage and cupping!

In full disclosure, I purchased a Groupon for my first service, with the thinking that if I wasn't enjoying it, then I could get up and leave, without shelling out full price for my first ever massage. I mentioned the Groupon in the voice message.. She came highly recommended based on her skills, but I never got to experience that. 7 days later, Groupon refunded my money.
