Since then an independent management group has taken over. I met some friends for a 'tune-up' round in preparation for a charity tournament we're playing in. I called a week ahead to make the tee time and asked about their practice facilities. I was told they have a driving range, practice putting and chipping area. I drove from Fort Mill and got there an hourly early only to learn the range was shut down for 'over seeding'. There is no practice chipping area only a putting green. As I was entering the Pro Shop, I saw a sign that said 'Snack Bar'. Once I checked-in and got my cart key, I asked what time did the Snack Bar open. the lady said "oh, we don't have a snack bar". My response was " you got a snack bar sign, but no snack bar". She just stared at me. This course is ragged. I don't like the lay out, too many blind shots and poor sight lines. The greens and tee boxes were OK but the fairways were in bad shape and if you are out of bounds, you will lose your ball or be heavily penalized. There are creeks that criss cross the course with power lines above as well. There are some ponds but none that create difficulties for your shot. I was going to play 18 but after 9 holes, our group decided to stop play. The lady in our group was disappointed there were NO Red or forward tees, the gold or Senior tees are the most forward tees, sorry ladies, the City of Gastonia will receive your comments. The electric carts were in good condition and the ProShop was small with not very much gear for sale. They do sell beer and they have soda and snack food vending machines. I doubt I will return, just way too many other good options near where I live.

I appreciate the concept and the fun decorative choices. The access to a full bar and multiple different types of food makes this place a little more unique than other golf simulator clubs I've been to in the past. There are always workers at the bar to help you get any drinks or food orders. Parking is always easy to find and I like the "hole in the wall" feel of the location. The clubhouse and range where nice, but it was not until I rolled some putts on the putting green that my hopes started to rise. They had bent grass that was smooth and blazing fast. The staff were all great. Very friendly and everything you'd hope for at any level course. The course is fantastic. I'd say it has about 3 semi weak holes and even those were fun to play. The overall condition was excellent. The green were amazingly good. The sand in some of the green side bunkers were just ok, but in every other respect this track was so enjoyable to play. The views were stunning. My only regret was my choice of tees. I'm a low handicap senior. I chose the blue tees, which would have been fine with summer roll, but the course proved a bit too tough for me given the softer fall / winter conditions. Don't make my stupid mistake. I can't wait to return to this terrific golf course.

When we first got here at 11:30 it wasn't too crowded since the temperature was cool today, but it was quickly got busy. A little disappointed that they were short staffed as the staff member doing the Wax hands was also doing the bumper cars and he was busy for like an hour so the bumper cars were not running. The challenge zone is a joke. There are weeds, nets are broken for the basketball hoop and the little trampolines for the aero ball cover are with pine and so worn and shredded. We only found one ball and it was ripped and deflated. If I ever came back again, it would definitely be on a day that they have a special or a deal. Ropes course and zip line is definitely great for beginners kids or adults. I just feel like the price should not be charged fully is everything is not working and available.

The fairways were wide and the rough was low. The greens were receptuve and rolled great. I'm a fan of medium-fast greens with break. There are forced carries over water, but the closer tee boxes take some of them out of play. There were a few blind shots - but, maybe I didn't hit the first shot far enough! There's water, wind & elevation changes! I had a field day! Please don't ruin my course. Drop sand in your divots and repair the ball marks! I hope this place is gorgeous for a long time! Nice because the shut the course down at 12n & only Rumbling Bald resort guests can play so we had the course to ourselves! Great conditions! Greens rolled & in great shape! It's a mountain course so you are rewarded with shots in the narrow fairways! Great clubhouse especially if you're playing early. They have the Black Bear Cafe where you can get Starbucks coffee & breakfast Sammie's!
