So you think you want to play a mountain course but until now it hasn't happened, if you love golf these types of courses have to be on your bucket list. There are many reasons I'm sure why the pros don't play these types of courses the number one reason is probably because they walk during tournament play and no carts are allowed. These courses were made to ride, even the carts used in the mountains have to be tough and well maintained, a really bad day is a day when the rangers post signage saying "cart paths only today" that really mean you don't want to play this course today - a disappointing day is when the rangers post signage stating "90 degree rule in effect" this means unless you are an accurate golfer and have the ability to play target golf it's likely you're going to do lots of walking but here this is still very doable. Let's Play from the White Tees Par 72 - 5923 Yards - 69.3 Rating - 129 Slope Hole #1 - Par 5 - 476 Yards - play slight left sand about 250 yds on right Hole #2 - Par 3 - 154 Yards - straight 8 iron, green protected by sand Hole #3 - Par 4 - 398 Yards - dog-leg right 256 yds, stay left of center Hole #4 - Par 3 - 134 Yards - pitching wedge straight stay below hole Hole #5 - Par 4 - 324 Yards - dog-leg left, 240 yds to turn stay right Hole #6 - Par 3 - 147 Yards - high 8 iron, sand in front pin high is good Hole #7 - Par 5 - 484 Yards - dog-leg left, 280 yds to bend, be accurate Hole #8 - Par 4 - 316 Yards - 268 yds down the middle then 94 yds Hole #9 - Par 5 - 463 Yards - dog-leg left, 280 right side best Hole #10 - Par 4 - 356 Yards - hard dog-leg right, break out the driver Hole #11 - Par 4 - 332 Yards - dog-leg right, 250 yd drive to get birdie Hole #12 - Par 3 - 145 Yards - 8 iron uphill plays long easy par Hole #13 - Par 4 - 321 Yards - dog-leg right, iron off tee 140 - 170 yds Hole #14 - Par 4 - 365 Yards - nice straight drives gets you birdie Hole #15 - Par 5 - 502 Yards - 225 - 250 yds drive works well Hole #16 - Par 3 - 151 Yards - accurate shot off tee important, no fairway Hole #17 - Par 4 - 394 Yards - narrow off tee, then opens up, stay left Hole #18 - Par 4 - 461 Yards - straight down the middle, plays long Unfortunately a week or two before we arrived to play the first week of September they had aerated the greens and heavily sanded them in - very slow and bumpy this absolutely cost us both a few strokes. It didn't take too much away from the experience though, I was on vacation in the mountains playing golf with a friend on a beautiful day. I've played this course a number of times but its probably been close to a decade and I must say it hasn't lost it beauty. The course was well maintained outside the greens but it's necessary to keep them nice for the rest of the season. My buddy got us a discount on the round and a great tee time, it was if we had the course to ourselves the entire round we never waited and we were never pushed. We shot okay scores but like they say the worst day playing golf is better than the best day at work...

Introduction: Orchard Trace Golf Course in Hendersonville,…read moreNC is a great spot for a round of golf. It's a par-72 course that measures 6,567 yards from the back tees, making it a great option for experienced players and beginners alike. However, it's not without its flaws--let's take a look at what makes this course both enjoyable and challenging. Blog Body: Layout & Difficulty: The layout of Orchard Trace is fairly straightforward, with few surprises or gimmicks thrown in. Each hole is straightforward and easy to understand, which makes it ideal for golfers of all skill levels. There are also several water hazards throughout the course that can make things interesting if you're not careful. The fairways are generally quite wide and forgiving, but there are some narrow ones as well that can be tricky to navigate. The greens are slightly undulating but mostly flat, so you don't have to worry about having to putt with any major breaks or slopes. Course Conditions & Amenities: Unfortunately, the course conditions at Orchard Trace leave something to be desired. The fairways were quite rough when I played here and the greens were slow and bumpy as well. Additionally, there aren't many amenities onsite--just a small pro shop where you can buy drinks and snacks before teeing off. That said, the staff was friendly and helpful when I visited and they did their best to make sure my experience was enjoyable despite the subpar condition of the course itself. Value for Money: For the most part, Orchard Trace offers good value for money; green fees are fairly reasonable (around $20 for 18 holes) and there aren't any additional costs or hidden fees associated with playing here. All in all, if you're looking for an affordable round of golf in Hendersonville then this is definitely worth considering--just don't expect too much in terms of quality! Conclusion: All things considered, I had a fun time playing at Orchard Trace Golf Course in Hendersonville. While it may not be the best golf course around by any means - due to its rough condition - it still provides an enjoyable experience with great value for money overall! If you're looking for an affordable place to hit the links then this should definitely be on your list of options! Just make sure you bring your own clubs; they don't rent them out here!
