Trays of cooked crabs were streaming from the kitchen to the tables and they were obviously enjoyed by the customers. We ordered from the menu and I ordered the Oyster Po' Boy and my partner had a Crab Cake sandwich. She said her sandwich was tasty and mine was OK though I've had better. Next time I will order a crab dish. The atmosphere was spartan but clean and prices were appropriate. Friendly service but a little slow since the place was busy. I will probably give Ford's another look the next time I'm in Rock Hall.

HIGHLY recommend! Chester River Seafood catered my wedding on 12.10.2023 in Rock Hall, MD. We planned to have our wedding on June 1, 2024 and Chester River seafood was the caterer we chose; we love to support locally owned & operated family businesses! Unexpectedly we had to move our wedding date to 12.10.23 due to the declining health of a family member. We only had TWO WEEKS to throw together a wedding. I reached out to Shelia and asked if there was anyway possible they'd be able to cater our new wedding date and she didn't hesitate with taking on this task in such short notice. She made the entire process so easy. The food was AMAZING, the presentation was impressive and the service was outstanding. They went above and beyond when they didn't have to, making sure our day was perfect. We can't thank them enough! We went to a nearby highly yelped seafood restaurant last night and it was overpriced, over breaded, and utterly disappointing. Instead of risking that experience again, we decided to order steamed crabs from a store and picnic on our dock. Boy was that the most terrific idea ever. We ordered two dozen #1s, a tub of potato salad and a couple mallets - and picked up a six pack of beer - for less than what we paid at that restaurant for 5 crabs, a handful of oysters, and probably 10lbs of breading they labeled as "kids meals". After drooling all the way home, we had to beg, barter, and bribe for pictures before the kiddos dug in. Next time, we'll order ahead - would've saved 20 minutes or so. read more

Folks... the quality of the seafood at Chester River Seafood is nothing but great. We picked up a mess of live crabs to stram up tonight. We drove from Chester River Seafood to rising Sun, MD and we had zero dead loss and the crabs were sized perfectly. Pricing was very competative and the quality was over the top. Their shrimp is Lousiana Gulf shrimp... not the farm raised crap you get from the Far East. read more

Awesome spot. It is tucked back behind a house and a little difficult to find, but they have signs to help you find them. They have nice limited selection of fresh fish. We are not steamed crab people but did pick up their pre-made crab cakes and a couple of lbs of fish (rockfish and flounder). All very fresh. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. read more

My wife and I grew up in the Chestertown area and now live in AK. I normally do not rate businesses but we have always gotten excellent crabs from Chester River. We have to satisfy the itch at least once a year and the crabs are always full and good sized. read more
