Super thankful for Stevensville Crab Shack for coming in clutch with 2 bushels of crabs…read more My job books a nearby hotel/restaurant for a 3 day retreat. At this particular place they quoted us 1,000 dollars for ONE bushel of crabs! That wasn't sliding with us and as a nonprofit every penny spent needs to have a purpose. We found Stevenville via Google search, they gave us an amazing price and even threw in 2 free butters during pick up. I just want to call out how friendly everyone was, from the staff to the amazing two little girls that were there. I can tell the owners don't just care about what they're selling but they truly care about every aspect of their business. We drove one hour to pick up the crabs and when we arrived back the crabs were still hot and our group of 28 people said they were the best crabs they've had. I'm looking forward to coming back to try the other foods they other, the cold salads looked so good. Thank you, Stevensville!! Keep killing it!

I got the crab cake- too much bay seasoning for my taste but I understand this is natural in this area. My crab cake had a lot of lump crabmeat and that's good on a potato roll with 1 slice of tomato , one small piece lettuce and just enough mayo for the center of the roll- for $17.99 I expect more generous add ONS here. Not my style! Oh and bathroom is an outhouse- nope, not for me!

We ordered 9pcs of large crabs for $63, you can order individually instead of a dozen, everything was delicious. The cream of crab is a must try when you're here and the shrimp salad sandwich is a solid choice. Overall interior of this place is very clean and by the bay, we got to see the sunset. The waiter was friendly and checked up on us from time to time.

I've been to other places and loved them but this was a first time here. We parked and all you can smell is seafood and fish. Parking was decently easy. We walked in and asked to sit outside and was sent upstairs. Thought it a bit weird, but it was all good. We had nothing else going on on a Monday, and just wanted crabs. So we made our way upstairs and had to walk around a few corners to get to the bar before we self seated and found a table under these stairs. But the view! It was pretty, with the small lake or pond we were staring into. The whimsy breeze felt great against my skin and thankful there was an umbrella which shielded us from the hot sun. The tables were covered with craft paper. There were one server working the section. We ordered a Bloody Mary and a Paloma - who doesn't love a good cocktail on a hot day outside next to water? The menu is a decent size. We wanted the extra large crabs but they only had six left so we did half extra large and half large. We also ordered Mac and Cheese which turned out to be Kraft Mac and Cheese, Hush Puppies and also an order of Cole slaw. I was tired after trying to crack three crabs, but the flavors were great. I wish it had more of the orange eggs stuff but I guess we couldn't choose which type of crab they were and I had no orange eggs in the crab. But the flavors were good. I enjoyed the experience. It was pretty chill and just nice to be outside cracking teeth and sipping drinks.

We got there right when they opened, and I'm so glad we did because the huge restaurant filled up surprisingly quickly. We were among the first to order, which definitely worked in our favor. They didn't have jumbo crabs that day, but the large crabs were REALLY large, so we were still very happy with our order. The crabs were exactly what we were hoping for on a summer holiday. One thing to know: there is no indoor dining; all seating is outdoors under large pavilions with fans. It was definitely a warm July day, but the fans helped, and honestly, the outdoor setting made it feel even more like a classic MD crab feast. They also don't provide aprons or gloves, so you might want to bring your own if you don't want to smell like crabs for the rest of the day. But honestly, that's part of the whole experience haha

I'm convinced that Kent Island does not have any decent crab houses, only tourist-trappy,…read morehigh-priced, private equity-owned eateries that ship crabs in from the gulf coast and cut corners everywhere to maximize profit. Fisherman's Crab Deck is a classic example of this dilemma- I took my daughter here after picking her up from stay-over camp in Chestertown. We both wanted steamed crabs, and had been to Harris in the past and were not impressed, so we checked out Yelp and found the ratings were pretty good here, so we stopped in. First impressions are important, and after entering and following the sign to be seated, all we saw were a bunch of women gabbing away like they were sharing last night's dating stories. Eventually one came up and asked us whether we wanted inside or outside seating. We asked for a table near the water, and got seated near some clown who spent his entire time in the restaurant shouting on his phone. So, I know staff can't control what people do once seated (to an extent), but maybe this suggests what type of clients they get. Anyway, our waitress comes up and takes our drink order- I asked to sample two beers on draft that I was not familiar with- she looked at me like I wanted a free dink or something, but reluctantly told me she would "ask the bartender" if this was ok. She wasn't rude or anything, but just seem slightly annoyed at my request, as well as the entire time "serving" us. We get our drinks, order our crabs, and I got some ears of corn and crab soup. The soup was ok, the ears of corn tasted like cow corn that had been shipped in from Bangladesh- they were that bad, and at $4 a piece, this was a high crime. I didn't dare tell our server given her demeanor- I didn't want to chance a blow-up. The crabs themselves were ok- nothing special, but not bad. With that said, we ordered extra-large and got large- one trick these Kent Island crab houses have is that they undersize their crabs- extra-large are actually large, large are actually mediums, etc. No respectable crab house would do this, but I guess Fisherman's and others nearby think it's another way to make more money. Another thing I noticed is that this place doesn't use Old Bay seasoning, which is treasonous in Maryland. The server said they use their own recipe, which is about 90% salt dumped on the crabs, and saves them money. Additionally, they don't use butter to dip the crab meat in- you get liquid margarine which tastes like chemicals. Finally, their vinegar dip is not vinegar- don't ask me what it is, but it tastes terrible! For two people, our bill came to over $115, and we only ordered a half a dozen crabs. Outrageous. Bad corn, small crab sizes, no Old Bay, and a patron at the next table yacking over how his sub-contractor is over-charging his company. I won't even mention the finicky waitress. Two stars, Fisherman's- and I'm never coming back.
