My lab, LULU, had a cyst on her flank. As we have just relocated to the area, we weren't sure where to take her. How lucky to find Dr. Roberta and her great staff at Chester Vet Clinic. The facilities are clean, organized and rival any clinic I've been to in larger cities. The front office staff are friendly and efficient. Roberta is a gem. She set us immediately at ease about the cyst. Started LULU on antibiotics and said we should come back for surgery the following week. The cyst disappeared so I called the clinic and said that I didn't want to take a surgery spot away from an animal that really needed it. They said bring her in anyway. Roberta agreed that the cyst was gone and no surgery necessary. No charge for the visit! Glad we found this clinic for our dogs! read more

My son's dog had foxtails in her feet and, at first, we were happy, because they got her in the next day. My son and dad got her there and they stated they needed to keep her overnight but wouldn't charge an overnight fee because the appointment was after 3pm. They completed surgery and we picked her up the next day. $400+later and two foxtails. However, the next day she began limping again, and she'd been nowhere near foxtails. My husband and son had to perform minor surgery and got 2 more foxtails out. I called on Monday and told them what occurred, the reception took a message because the vet was in with a patient and then I never received a call back. That much money for a half done surgery and no call back, very upsetting, especially about a vet that I've heard nothing but great things about and we drove over 1 hour to get too. A friend referred us to Roberta W., DVM for our dog care. We came up for the week and our dog injured herself. I called on a Monday morning, they fit us in the same day, as new patient. Roberta was wonderful with our 1 year old lab. She treated her, gave her pain medicine and antibiotics. We found her to be competent, pleasant and just a nice good-hearted country vet. The unexpected bonus was the bill was less than half of what the same type of visit would've been in the Bay Area. We will plan routine vet trips with Roberta when up here at our cabin for our dog. Chester Veterinary Clinic Assistant BROKE My Kittys Leg!! On March 21st 2019, I took our male cat, Shamus, to the Chester Veterinary Clinic, because he wasn't feeling too well and not eating too good. He's a part of our family, and we love him, so we care when he isn't doing well, we pay attention, just as if he was a kid. The woman Vet on duty that day, Susie, "checked him out", and decided to draw blood. She took him into the room next to me, and her "assistants", (as I found out later), drew the blood, not Susie. They shaved his neck, in order to do this, and some how, one of the "assistants" held him down too tight, and broke his upper back right leg! I was not present, but I could hear him let out a squwal, like I've never heard him do before! They also found out that he was dehydrated, so they gave him some fluids as well. When they returned him to me, he could NOT walk on his back right leg! Not knowing what to think, and I'm not the one who usually takes our pets to the Vet, I didn't question it at the time. 2nd mistake.....1st mistake was bringing him there. They told me they weren't sure what was wrong with him, but they gave me some antibiotics to administer to him. I returned home with our Shamus, feeling even worse, because now, he had a broken leg, and I didn't even know it. I can't imagine the pain that he was in!! I decided that if his leg wasn't better with in a day or so, I would call and make appointment to take him back to be checked. I did just that! But couldn't get him in to see the Vet until 3/26/2019, 5 days later!! On that day, it was proven thru Chester Vet xrays, that sure enough, his leg had been broken. "Dr. Roberta" told us that she wanted to "make this right", that she would do the surgery at "no charge". So, they scheduled Shamus for surgery, 4/3/2019. We left Shamus with the Vet on 4/2/2019, so they could give him fluids, and prepare him for the surgery. We came to pick up Shamus on 4/4/2019. "Dr. Roberta" explained to us what took place, how he did, and that they stapled his incision, instead of suturing, to save time. We took him home, so he could rest, and be more comfortable. His staples, in our opinion, were very poorly put in. A lot of them didn't even close the incision! They missed! We had to put Butterfly band aids on him to keep his incision closed. We provided Shamus with a new bed and a place to recover in clean, comfort, surroundings, watching him constantly, and giving him his prescribed medicine as ordered. We had to take him back once or twice to have the staples redone! This was ridiculous! And he didn't seem to be getting any better. Under recommendations from friends, on 5/1/2019, we took him to see another local Vet, and he examined him, performed some xrays, and informed us that his leg had not healed!!! We could see in the xrays that the bones were NOT together, and the rod that had been inserted to hold his leg bone together, wasn't even attached to his bones. This was NOT a good report! Shamus wasn't building the calcium to heal his leg! Which in addition he had lost a lot of weight from not eating. It seems as though Shamus would never be able to walk again! We took Shamus into Chester Vet because he wasn't eating like he usually does, and he came out of there, with a broken leg!! And on 5/7/2019, we lost our Shamus, no thanks, to the Chester Veterinary Clinic! read more

Today, our best Friend Buddy died. He was under Dr Roberta's care, and Last night he lost all ability to walk, and we knew it was his time. So we called his Vet Dr. Roberta, and they said they couldn't take him until Monday, how compassionate of them, he was in extreme pain. In our most heart breaking time they couldn't help our poor Buddy. Who needs a Vet that is so non-compassionate? Her secretary Megan was rude to the extreme, and didn't care, she told us to take Buddy to Reno or Chico to put him down. So we called Dr. Nelson, He was busy, but with so much kindness he Helped us with our buddy. My question is why are you a Vet if you have no compassion? read more
