I went to him to see what he was going to do. He said everything was fine. Its just a little hiccup that just put you back a month. He said to me, he wrote a note to my therapist while I was in his room. Starting that he talked to my therapist about my new orders, what to do for my ankle. When I got to therapy. My therapist never received or talked to him at all about my new care plan. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO HIM. HE RUINED MY ANKLE. ITS WORSE NOW THEN BEFORE MY SURGERY. NOT A GOOD CHOICE IF YOU NEED SURGERY.

The prior authorization staff failed…read moreto submit a second authorization request for an MRI (insurance denied the first one because I had not done physical therapy, and the doctor submitted a new authorization request afterwards), called the day before the procedure, told me insurance denied it, and said I would need to either self-pay or reschedule. I called my insurance, and they told me the second authorization request was never submitted. Bet! The doctor's assistant went to bat for me, and once the paperwork was submitted it was approved. Meanwhile, the prior authorization manager LIED and said she personally asked the doctor to do a peer review with insurance and hit it approved for me. The doctor and the insurance company both said that didn't happen, and peer reviews only occur if they are appealing a denial, Their intake paperwork states that patients are responsible for obtaining all prior authorizations, never mind that we lack the resources to submit paperwork to do so, the chief operating officer dismissively told me it doesn't really mean that, but apparently it does. Patient beware!

I was last told by the risk management department that it was being investigated but have not heard anything back to date. My wife and I were targeted by an employee that unfortunately has been allowed to escalate to a serious issue. They advertise they are part of the Medical Fitness Association however their management has proven that they do not adhere to their standards and guidelines. They have discriminated against my wife. I would have expected better from Franciscan. Both the fitness center manager and compliance officer stated that Franciscan has a Zero tolerance for drugs. It's ok for their Personal trainer to sell drugs to her clients but not for us to report it? Perhaps sometimes it's easier to claim ignorance? Shame on Franciscan for not completing an employment verification and trusting your members.

If a healthcare facility cannot even maintain the exterior of the building then I don't have much faith in the type of care they will provide. Quite frankly I thought I was at the wrong address because it looks abandoned. The foliage is overgrown with weeds and there was garbage thrown alongside the building by the front door. Upon entering I found a very unwelcoming reception area and the woman working there seemed like she couldn't be bothered. It was at this point that I decided to continue my search.

I was treated there in 2021-2022 for three different problems (neck pain, therapy after foot surgery, and a torn rotator cuff). They got rid of my pain and got me back to full range-of-motion for each of my three problems. In the past 4 years, I've been to 3 different physical therapy places in Chesterton, including ATI. I rate ATI a 10, whereas the other two places I'd give a 0 and a 5. The place I rated 0 actually injured me, so I then needed PT to fix the harm they'd caused. That was when I switched to ATI. I arrived on my first appointment with a prescription from my doctor for medicare-covered machine-therapy (iontophoresis and ultrasound) plus PT. After a 1-hour evaluation with a therapist, only THEN was I informed they do not offer the medicare-covered machine therapy prescribed by my doctor. Three different people eventually told me that my prescribed medicare-authorized treatment was not supported by medical research and they recommended laser therapy that was NOT covered by medicare and would cost me hundreds of dollars for a series of treatments. I was SHOCKED! I asked ... you mean a medicare-authorized treatment is NOT supported by medical research?! And you cannot provide me exactly what I came here to get?! And you waited until AFTER a 1-hour evaluation before you told me all that?! I was in total disbelief and felt terrible because of all the subtle but polite pressure that was put on me when all I wanted was what my doctor had ordered. Why did they need to make me feel so terrible? I just couldn't believe it. After I asked my questions, the "manager" was consulted several times and I was eventually informed that they COULD do most of what was prescribed by my doctor and it would all be covered by medicare. I felt trapped since I had already been there one hour so proceeded with the treatment. This is where the 5-star rating starts. All hands-on people were OUTSTANDING and the full course of PT fixed my issue 100%. My advice is to be very cautious if you are recommended treatments NOT ordered by your doctor. Otherwise, an excellent place.
