Absolutely terrible experience at this gas station. The employee who was pumping my gas was extremely rude from the start and had a completely disrespectful attitude. On top of that, his behavior came across as blatantly racist, which is completely unacceptable in any setting--especially when dealing with customers. No one should have to feel uncomfortable or disrespected just for trying to get gas. Customer service here is clearly nonexistent, and this employee should not be representing any business. He seriously needs to be fired or at the very least retrained, because the way he treats people is beyond unprofessional. I will not be coming back here, and I would not recommend this place to anyone. If I could rate lower than a 1 star I would. read more

There aren't a lot of pumps or parking spaces but considering where they are located they're doing the best they can. Getting in and out easily just depends on the time of day. The main thing is inside they have a solid selection of snacks, wine and of most importance they have coffee. I don't mean the high octane sickly sweet brew found on every corner here in Portland. I mean a cup of Joe. A cup of Mud. Working man's fuel. Something to wake me up and send me on my way without giving me diabetes. Gas station coffee is simply the best, even in Portland! read more

Oh boy, I go to this Chevron only if I am on drop-dead empty and the alternative is pushing my car over the hill to the cheaper gas over said hill. Yikes! I was in exactly that situation and I paid $4.19 for a gallon of regular on May 12, 2011. I bought exactly $5.00, just enough to get myself over the hill to work and to the land of cheaper gas. Later I went to my old stand-by Space Age Fuel on 185th and Eider in Beaverton, OR. There, I paid $3.85 for the same gallon of gas. Even a gallon of supreme was $4.07 at Space Age. That is one heck of a price difference my friends. I apologized to the man that had to run out in the cold to pump my measly $5.00 worth but he was supremely nice. This place is so convenient, why do they have to price gouge so heftily to the tune of an extra .34 cents per gallon for regular? When filling up these days, that really makes a huge difference. Visited them out of desperation on 10/8/18 @ 4:05-4:10pm. After hearing the nozzle "pop" to indicate the tank was full, the attendant continues to pump more fuel into the car. Does he and the station not understand that topping off the tank is (1) illegal in Oregon & (2) not good for the car?!? Never going back...if I do, I'll stand next to the nozzle. Oh Baby, this place keeps making a smile on my face! Y'all can rant and scream about the over priced gasoline. But SERIOUSLY, this place delivers! Placed high on the hill of Burnside and 23rd you cannot beat the convenience and visibility! Prime real estate Baby! It's on a huge corner. Everybody knows what Chevron you're talking about when you say Uptown Chevron. We've all been to crappy gas stations! The kind that give you the heeeby jeebies! The kind where Poor Brittany Spears walks bare foot in. The last ditch desperate potty break kind. This is not one of those sad little places. Uptown Chevron is what Billy Joel should have been singing too. This Uptown Chevron is über shiny and clean. Every single employee is super nice and helpful. Genuine smiles and conversation. I work one day a week in the area. So, I've only got gas here like once in the last three years. What I really stop in for is their coffee. I'm not picky when It comes to plain old coffee. Specially when it's cheap. They've got great creamers and a variety of coffee types. Sometimes, I need a snack. They got that too. They've certainly got their selection of bums that visit and buy their 40's at 7am. However, they in no way distract from my experience. Quite nice the bums are at Uptown Chevron. Every single time I stop to buy gas at this Chevron I am met with the worlds most pleasant and friendly gas attendants. They are always cheery and will sometimes chat a little with me as they fill my gas tank. Once I needed help putting oil in my car and an employee walked me through the whole thing. They make my day a little better every time I come here. As a bonus, there is one bearded fellow who works there with red hair who is quite easy on the eye. The only downside is the price. (hence the 4 star rating.) It's some of the most expensive gas in Portland. But most of the time I don't even care because they are just lovely people to interact with. read more

So whoever the dude is that works nights specifically tonight dude is about 5"6 with a beard. I walked into the store around 10:08pm I highly reccomend looking at the cameras I came in with a black sweat shirt and red sweats on, mind Yiu I've never been in that store before as I walked in and walked up to counter he didn't even acknowledge me, he was looking down at his phone texting an epic novel then he proceeds to say "WASSUP" in an aggressive like manner still never even looked up at me to acknowledge me so I say back to him so they pay Yiu to text and ignore people who come into the store. And he said that's it get out. Well let me say something I was going to spend about $120 buying the 4 packs of Juul pods and being someone who runs my own business. As a business owner I would be super mad if my employee acted like that to my customers and made me lose out on potential money. There was also about 5-6 others in the store and those people coulda stole everything out the store and he wouldn't have even noticed. I worked in customer service for year in the most expensive places in this country Newport Beach,CA so I know what customer service should be held to and that just wasn't professional. He got into his feelings all because I called him out. And if he can't take someone especially a customer calling him out on his wrong doings idk how you could ever be successful people are gonna criticize and give constructive criticism and you can't ever get in your feelings just do better. I didn't say it in a disrespectful manner I just simply said they pay Yiu to text and not acknowledge customers. Buy gas here only if you have around $100 extra available on your credit card. Most stations reserve a bit extra to authorize the transaction, but this one puts a large hold on your card even if you buy only a few dollars of gas. Two stars because the hold disappears eventually. read more

YES, it is an expensive place to buy fuel for your car. However, if you check the prices of another station down 21st avenue, you will feel a lot better about what you are paying for fuel here. And, my experience has always been that if you make eye contact with the people who are going to be putting fuel into your car and tell them exactly what you want, they usually do not mess up. I hate it when places (anywhere) try to top off your tank. This is extremely dangerous and that is why it is illegal here in Oregon. So, I just always make sure if I am getting a fill up to tell them not to top it off. I usually get a "Oh, we don't, it's illegal in Oregon anyway." shot right back at me. I know it can be frustrating to have to worry about this kind of thing, but it you are just direct and respectful to the lot attendants, you should get that back in return. It helps to remember that the attendants at this station get a lot of gruff from all kinds of people during their shifts. They are just human too. With that being said, I 'usually' get good service here. I do not buy fuel here often because it is much more expensive than many places elsewhere. But, I've gotten a lot of great service here over the years when I do buy fuel, too. The one thing I wanted to mention is that the clerks inside this store take a lot of gruff from all kinds of people, too. I've seen all kinds of crazy stuff happen in this store. There are a few solid people that have been there for a while now. There is one young woman with longer dark hair and glasses who is super nice, super on top of it and can deal with anyone that store attracts in its doors. It is a great place if you need quality fuel, that is not the HIGHEST priced in Portland and you need something from the store at the same time. The bathroom is ALWAYS clean, and the current owner, Shannon, is usually there in the mornings and she is always available to listen to any complaint you have and deal with it on the spot. So, don't be afraid to speak up if something goes wrong here, that's what owners are for. And, it is comforting that this station is as clean as it is, open 24/7/365, and has excellent lighting and good safety for everyone too. Thank you Shannon for all your good work at keeping the place in good order. I've been coming here since 1991. It's hard to believe that much time has gone by. And how much older I am now. I remember, before bank cards were used a lot at stations and I wrote checks for everything back then. You had to call and apply with the owners back then to get 'approved' to write a check there. They would then put you on what was known as the 'check list'. There were not a lot of people on that list and I am not rich or even well off, but I do watch my money closely. Any new attendant would be on top of me the minute they saw my checkbook, but I'd just have to tell them "I'm on the check list." And they never believed me, and always apologized after running inside with the check to see. That was always fun. The point being is that this station is a part of Portland's history. This place has the freshest Butterfingers in town - delicious!! We all know, a Butterfinger that is hard on the inside bites! Best of all: no matter what is the time of the day you can go there and buy one. Robert, who works behind the counter is awesome. He and the other staff are always friendly and make you feel welcome. I go to this Chevron all the time to fill up gas or for convenience store purchases. But every time the black guy is there pumping gas he is a total jerk to me for no reason without being provoked. Today he flat out refused to pump gas for me because my vehicles gas pump location was literally 2 feet beyond the pump. The gas pump would not have needed to be anywhere near the point of stretching out the hose or even remotely damaging it like he suggested. Customers should not have to reverse their vehicles 12 inches to appease this loser. He simply used it as an excuse to not do his job and to be an a-hole to me. Rather than politely asking me to back up my vehicle, he starts running his mouth and calling me inappropriate names. This guy has no business dealing with customers and acts inconvenienced anytime he has to do his job. Everybody else who works there is respectful and polite but this guy is literally the scum of the earth and it has nothing to do with his race.
