Having to fill my tank more often than not, becomes a stressful event especially when it comes to driving on one of the busiest streets around - Watt Ave.!   Writing reviews about a gas station is not likely to be read by most people who are only searching for a nearby station and not particularly interested in individual experiences.  But as a loyal Yelper, I always feel compelled to write something about a business that I patronize.   As far as gas stations go, they fit the bill as being a good, solid filling station. Mini Mart within the building, a spacious lot with multiple pumps available, and conveniently located on a busy street corner where they provided cheaper than usual gas prices.

Sometimes the pumps don't work for whatever reason but I just switch pumps and they work fine. Sometimes the pumps would stop on their own, usually at $100 for me but just pump some more. I know my car fills on well over $100 unfortunately. Today I went through the car wash and yes, it is an automatic car wash. Nothing too special but I just needed a good rinse after pollen spilled all over my car. Not much else to say about this gas station. 3 stars because the pumps that don't work or don't take card making you have to go inside to pay.

It felt pretty sketchy inside and out - there was a line inside and people were talking loudly at each other, but it moved quickly and the workers did a good job of handling the crowd. My husband grabbed a 6 pack of beer and I loaded up on candy - Butterfinger, Almond Joy, Hershey's Cookies and Cream, a new Reese's Cup with Marshmallow and Sour Blue Raspberry Mike and Ike's to last us through the weekend. Aside from the usual gas station snacks, they also offer Krispy Krunchy Fried Chicken, potato wedges and hot dogs - among other items. They also had Icee and fountain drink options. Everything seemed to be reasonably priced too. The inside was well stocked, pretty clean and organized. Not sure I'll be back though unless I'm in a pinch!

I josh one of my friends for his crazy love of I-5 Pilot gas station food. It just doesn't sound smart to eat. But, if a black man tells me he knows of the best fried chicken, I run with it. You only live once. Besides, I have medical insurance and a fully plumbed bathroom all to myself, should things go wrong. With contingency plans in place, I run open arms (open mouth?) into uncharted territory. My friend was spot on! This could possibly be the best fried chicken I've ever eaten. And the honey flavored biscuit was heavenly! His breast & thigh w/ biscuit, my leg & thigh (nicely sized) w/ biscuit, and two 20 oz. sodas came to under $15. If you're craving fried chicken, stop by for your take-out order. The cashiers didn't really talk, but took my friend's jokes in stride and they weren't rude. Go in! Thank me later! (Note: please don't twist this around as something racist. Oftentimes people will say something like, "it's a really good sign at a Chinese (or any other ethnic cuisine) restaurant, when there's all Chinese diners." Each person is usually a connoisseur of their nationality's/region's cuisine and it is usually wise to trust their taste on their favorite food.
