I paid $20 for 4 gallons at $4.95 per gallon. I drive a Toyota Prius C which gets 50 mpg. Drove 20 miles to Ojai, then 40 miles to Santa Barbara, then 40 miles back, my car ran out of gas. It's only 100 miles the math doesn't work. Whatever their pumps say you are paying for is half of what comes out. It's rigged or something. Totally dubious. read more

On the night of November 3, 2024 at 11:00pm, my partner and I experienced a deeply unsettling incident of racial profiling at a gas station after attending a concert. We stopped to refuel our car and pick up some essentials for the drive back home. While I pumped gas, my boyfriend cleaned the windshield. As it was late and we were unfamiliar with the area, I suggested my boyfriend go into the store to buy energy drinks and water while I drove up closer to the store to keep an eye on him. Unbeknownst to us, the employee on duty had just exited the store. The employee wore a beanie, super thick mustache, light complexion, and a bit on the heavier side. Upon my boyfriend entering the store, the employee immediately approached him with accusatory and discriminatory remarks. The employee asked, "You good? I see you and your girlfriend were just waiting for me to leave the store alone so you can come in and steal it all." This baseless accusation suggested that we were plotting to steal from the store--a serious and offensive assumption. The employee further escalated the situation by stating that he "knew" we were "drunk and high" and "messy people," despite the fact that we were completely sober and do not engage in drinking or smoking. The employee's statements were not only unfounded but also deeply rooted in racial bias. These assumptions were clearly based on prejudiced stereotypes, which unjustly associated our presence and actions with criminal intent due to our racial identities. This kind of behavior is a textbook example of racial profiling, where individuals are judged and treated with suspicion solely based on their race, ethnicity, or perceived social background, rather than any actual evidence of wrongdoing. Racial profiling is a form of discrimination that perpetuates harmful stereotypes, marginalizes communities of color, and erodes trust between businesses and the public. It is both unprofessional and unacceptable for an employee to make such prejudiced remarks and assumptions without any basis in fact. This incident not only reflects poorly on the individual employee but also raises concerns about the store's commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all customers, regardless of their race or background. Came to put gas I always use chevron but not this one anymore Website says open till 11.59 ? It's 11 door the lady says I'm sorry we're closed you know no big deal I'll just use my credit card outside so as the lady pretends to close up and goes and sits in her car and I'm in my truck I mean I have all day to fill it up and she stays there all day waiting for me and when I'm getting ready to leave she magically opens the door and looks like she's opening back up. Maybe she's taking a break or something I thought so I asked her to go are you still close or can I buy a soda now she's all know I'm sorry we're still close and then just lock it back up and then drives away. I have a suspicion that she didn't want to help me for some reason ? The attendant at the gas station did not inform me that the pumps were not working and allowed me to purchase gas from him late at night one evening about a week or two ago. I typically would not stop at this gas station and definitely not late but it was an emergency. After attempting to pump gas and not getting more than .05cents worth I went in to ask what was up. As soon as I came in the attendant asked "is it not working?" I looked back at him puzzled as to how he knew and said yes. He replied "yeah they haven't been." He then walked away mumbling about having to check something in the back and don't remove the nozzle. So I didn't and I waited for him. Once I got the okay to try again I did and it did not work. At this point I was ready to get my money back and leave. I told the attendant this and he simply mumbled some more and walked away to go outside and try it. I told him I was done and wanted my money back, at which point he threw up his hand at me told me to "fuck off lady" that's when I walked behind him and demanded he come back inside and return my money. He came back in after messing with the pump and returned my money all while calling me names and instigating more hostility. This Chevron Gas Station is a little higher priced per gallon. I think gas in Ventura is all little higher than in other key SoCal places. In late February, it was $2.319/gallon for regular. Seems a bit high, doesn't it? Maybe becuase it is near the Ventura County Fairgrounds and right off the 101 freeway, and not far from the Ojai Freeway? I don't know. read more

This is not a good place to get gas if you are traveling North on the 101. The exit is really wonky. I don't know how to explain it. It'll just ruin your day and you'll be all pouty for the rest of your drive. Also, there is a 50% chance you will cause an auto accident. tried to explain the pump gave me wrong price. Cash/Debit care + Vons $.20 discount = credit price and only a $.10 discount. Worker kept telling me I used a credit card. No Debit with pin number. Carlos, the resident mechanic, is extremely skilled and honest. He has worked on my car several times, and I can't recommend him and his crew enough. ***** As a site for gas and air, this Chevron is fine, and they always have paper towels and squeegee water to hand. The mini-mart on site is small but is fine for grab-and-go snack and beverage needs. As for the iffy qualities: yes, the site is hard to get in and out of during peak times since it's on E. Thompson and California, and one does have to be careful of the panhandlers since the site is across from a bar and mini mart. Just lock your passenger door, and keep an eye on your purse or backpack. Also, for safety's sake, I recommend using the restroom somewhere else unless you have a scout. Otherwise, the staff keep as clean and orderly a site as they can. : ) read more

First gas station you will see off the California off ramp from 101 North. They have Mechanics on duty (which is rare these days,) and this is one of the last 'real' gas stations until you get into Carpinteria if you are heading North. read more
