If there were a draft pick for pediatricians, Dr. Bennett would be our #1 overall. He met with us before our daughter was even born, showed up at the hospital like a pediatric superhero when we had no idea what to do, and has been part of our lives ever since. His bedside manner is honestly unbelievable--he somehow manages to calm babies, reassure parents, and crack a joke all at the same time. Our daughter trusts him, we trust him, and we're convinced he could probably negotiate world peace if toddlers were involved. The entire practice runs with the perfect mix of professionalism, warmth, and genuine care. They've become truly indispensable to our family, and we couldn't imagine navigating parenthood without them. Five stars, ten stars, all the stars--Dr. Bennett and the team deserve them all. Chevy Chase pediatrics is a rare gem. Its run how a medical practice was meant to be run - where you always get a call back, the doctors really get to know you and your family, and they'll always fit you in even when your kid is sick. They have tons of resources and connections when your kids are little (lactation consultant when they are babies ) and as they get older they work to build a relationship with your kids so they feel comfortable discussing their issues. The care is top notch - with doctors constantly doing extra to keep their skills sharp. I couldn't recommend Chevy chase pediatrics more highly. read more

Chevy Chase Pediatrics is an absolutely wonderful provider. The doctors are excellent and the front desk staff is always very friendly and helpful. I've used the after hours line several times and always receive prompt call backs and very helpful guidance. It is a very warm environment and I actually look forward to taking my kids in. They also have a thoughtful baby room with extra diapers, wipes, etc. and a changing table. Special note that we see Dr. Bennett and he is wonderful and extremely knowledgeable. 5 stars! read more

We've been patients at Chevy Chase Pediatrics for almost 7 years with both of our kids. While Dr. Ahlstrom is our primary pediatrician, we've seen other doctors in the practice and have always had excellent experiences. Dr. Ahlstrom never rushes our appointments and she explains things clearly and calmly. As a new mom, I appreciated her patience with all of my questions. She takes a thoughtful approach to treatment and won't prescribe medications unless truly necessary. My kids actually love going to the doctor! The office is clean, colorful, and filled with books, toys (they love the playhouse), and beautiful LEGO displays that Dr. Bennett has built. Dr. Bennett is especially wonderful during sick visits--he's playful and silly with the kids while being incredibly knowledgeable. The front desk staff is also friendly and helpful, and the nurses are consistently kind. We're grateful to have found such a caring practice for our family! read more

Dr. Howard Bennett and Chevy Chase Pediatrics are truly A+++. When I first became a mother, I had no idea how much I would lean on our pediatrician--not just for medical care, but for reassurance. Dr. Bennett is unreal. His lighthearted, calm manner instantly put me at ease and taught me not to panic about every little thing. But the moment something is serious, his tone shifts, he is crystal clear, and you know it's time to act. That balance of warmth and no-nonsense guidance is priceless. The doctors and team not only put me at ease, they put my boys at ease too. They actually love going to the pediatrician's office--Dr. Bennett is one of their favorite people. One of the things I appreciate most about this practice is that you never feel rushed. They give you all the time you need--to ask questions, to talk through concerns, to make sure you really understand what's going on and what to do next. We've also seen and worked with his partners--Dr. Suarez, Dr. Echeveste, and Dr. Ahlstrom--and they are all wonderful: thoughtful, patient, and completely aligned in their approach. The nurses are spectacular as well: kind, gentle with the kids, and incredibly helpful with questions. You can always get same-day care when it's needed, and we have consistently felt supported, heard, and well cared for. Chevy Chase Pediatrics is an excellent practice; the Drs all have good credentials. Once you are in the practice , it is easy to get an appointment (concierge service without concierge prices). They return calls promptly. The nurses are excellent and they send school forms promptly. They are even open on Saturday mornings. read more

We've been with Chevy Chase Pediatrics for years, and honestly, I don't know how we would've survived early parenting without them. Our children actually like going to the doctor -- which still shocks me. The whole team has this perfect mix of practicality, common sense, and humor that keeps everyone calm (including parents who maybe asked Google a few too many questions). I've always appreciated that they talk to you like real people, not out of a script. They take the time to explain things in a way that makes sense, and they've gotten to know our family so well that every visit feels easy. They're caring, patient, and they always seem to show up with exactly the right tone -- light when it can be light, serious when it needs to be serious. A friend recommended them to us six years ago, and we've recommended them to more friends than I can count. My two children (now teens) have been patient since they were newborns and I have nothing but awesome things to say. This is concierge pediatric care without the concierge price tag. We have a "primary" doctor in the practice who treats my family like family, like what I imagine a pediatric doctor was like in the 1950s. This practice knows you and your children. I cannot say enough amazing things about this group. And the new office space is very welcoming. The nurses are caring and the nurse helpline is always available. When my children had a fear of needles, the nurses were so patient and thoughtful. When my son had to be hospitalized when he was younger for RSV, the practice was always checking in and coordinating with the hospital. read more

My family absolutely loves Dr Ahlstrom! I am an adult woman and I wish she could be my doctor. When we had insurance the practice didn't take, we still went to Chevy Chase pediatrics, and I switched all my doctors. But I couldn't let go of Dr Ahlstrom!! She is a wonderful doctor who treats the entire child thoughtfully, and truly supports their parents as well. I trust her with my children's life....what more can I say? She also helped me through a tough breastfeeding experience with my children....my son it did not go well, while my dear determined daughter would have gotten milk out of a stone. Please ignore the negative reviews! We were just a lt children's hospital (flu is very bad this year) and our doctor there recommended rotating Tylenol and Motrin every 3 hours to help my son feel better (he had a big 105 deg fever!). So that is a thing and good of Dr Ahlstrom to recommend it!! We also love Dr Suarez....saw her when she was pregnant and my daughter is confident she has named her baby "Lovey" as my daughter recommended! We are about to head in for a same day appointment with both kids! Thankful they can accommodate my sick kiddos! read more

I initially started at this practice with a prenatal visit with Dr. Hall. I wasn't really sure what I was looking for in a pediatrician to be honest. I knew I wanted someone to be balanced, understanding, and compassionate; but beyond that being a first time and pregnant mom I didn't have a lot of requirements. Our prenatal visit went well and I felt like the practice was what I'm typically looking for; clean, simple, warm, inviting. Once I gave birth Dr. Hall was very hands on and seemed to be invested in my goals as a new mom as well as our needs as new parents/new family dynamic. She would make a point to ask how my husband was doing; acknowledging that sometimes dad/partner can kind of get lost in the sauce with a new baby. Her focus was our little one, but she also would mention that the "whole child" was based on it's family's happiness and well-being. This made a lot of sense to me and I feel like it was what I was looking for in a dr. that I couldn't quite put my finger on as a new mom. Dr. Hall had a new addition to her family right around the same time as us so I had the opportunity to have a few visits with Dr. Bennett. They went well and I felt like he listened and validated anything we wanted to talk about. I feel he's also a balanced dr that fits what I was looking for in a pediatrician. We now see Dr. Rosloff (only 1 visit so far) since Dr Hall is not at this practice anymore. She's easy to talk to and encouraging. Being a parent is tough business and I feel like this practice does a great job with offering advice and just the right amount of intervention/treatment. They're not pushy or judgy, and they seem grounded and invested in the well-being of my kiddo. read more

If you look at most of the reviews, most are more than five years old. I have a more recent review: I highly recommend avoiding Dr. Ahlstrom. My husband was sick last week and then my toddler and I became sick this week. Considering we were all essentially quarantining since the time my husband became sick, suffice it to say, we all had the same illness. We explained to the doctor our symptoms (since we were adults and could explain our symptoms) and then explained to her what we saw from our child's symptoms. One symptom neither of us felt was a severe sore throat. I believe every single person who has had strep throat can definitely say that it was the worst sore throat they've had. My husband and I could say our throats felt irritated, but not the worst sore by any means (or even close). As our child was going through the appointment, she was getting more and more upset and when I asked my husband to take her into the waiting room to calm her down, the doctor said she couldn't wait for that. By the end of the appointment, my child was positively hysterical yet for some reason, she felt it necessary to give our young toddler a strep test even though she hardly showed symptoms of strep (apart from an irritated throat). Of course this greatly distressed my child since most know this is a highly uncomfortable test, even for adults and certainly for young toddlers. Also, the doctor could have easily asked my husband and I if we had strep symptoms OR if either of us could have gotten tested first at our healthcare provider. Logically, if one of us had strep, then there was a greater likelihood our child would have had strep as well and at that point it would have made sense to test our child. Interestingly, these are topics we discussed after the test, instead of before. Finally, she prescribed a DOUBLE DOSE of Tylenol/Motrin for our child and I had to correct her. Essentially, if I had listened to her and hadn't been informed myself, we would have overdosed our child. I had to correct her. She didn't use common sense practices. She believed that rushing through the appointment was the best course of action. A online search after the appointment also indicated to me that strep throat tests below the age of 3 are not recommended except for very specific factors such as attending daycare with a strep outbreak, a direct caretaker having strep, and significant clinical findings (none of which applied to us, which she knew). Please avoid this doctor if you care about your child's physical, mental, and emotional health - as it certainly seemed that this doctor did not care about all of those aspects of our child's health. read more

Used to be a great practice. Now, they are nickel and dime-ing. They charge to print out health forms and now they are charging for any after hours contact with on-call physicians. The consequences for this could be tragic. People will be less likely to call if they're not certain it's an emergency yet, and the results could be fatal. read more

We changed to this practice after about a year with another doctor. I originally went there seeking a second opinion for a chronic problem affecting my daughter that her original pediatrician wasn't helping us much with, and immediately decided to change to Chevy Chase Pediatrics permanently. Dr. Ahlstrom is an incredible doctor and kind person. Right away, she took an interest in my daughter's chronic condition and made sure we touched base by phone about it every 2-3 days until we got it under control. She made herself available to our family on the weekends, just to check in about it. Her manner is kind and caring, and she has an exam style that puts my toddler at ease. I never feel rushed at appointments, and Dr. A always asks how I am personally doing, separate from my daughter. One thing I love is that they have doctor call-in times every day. Yep, you can call your kid's pediatrician at a set time (30 minutes every morning), and they are there, at their desks, to answer simple questions and/or advise you if you need to come in. This is a wonderful service, and it keeps you from playing phone tag all day long. I have never heard of another practice that offers this service. Getting same-day appointments is a snap, and other doctors in the practice have been able to see my daughter the same day even when Dr. Ahlstrom was booked. In my opinion, this is the perfect sized practice: not a mega-practice with 10 doctors whom you will never know well, but big enough to cover the demands of kids who wake up sick and need to be seen right away. The support staff at the office is equally as wonderful and professional as the doctors. My daughter loves the extensive Lego sculpture collection and climbing structure in the waiting room (and the fish tank!) There is no separate "sick kids" waiting room, but there is a newborn waiting room that keeps the littlest ones isolated. Don't be scared by the practice name: this is not really in Chevy Chase. It's very near Wilson High School in Tenleytown, so quite conveniently located. There are patient parking spaces, so that is no concern. We are moving out of town soon, and one of my biggest regrets is having to leave Dr. Ahlstrom behind! read more

Dr Alhstrom has been my boys doctor for 4 years now. She is great. This is the only office that can give you a sick appointment on the same day you call and they never keep you waiting. I have no idea how they do this, but it makes the whole experience great. They also have Saturday hours for sick kids which is very helpful. We have been very happy with the care provided here. The only issue is the limited insurance companies they take. read more

We love chevy chase peds. My son was in an accident at daycare so we called to get him seen asap. The staff was super accommodating and even though there was only one doctor in the office and they were completely booked, they arranged to see my son later that afternoon. When we arrived (30 min early) they took us right away and I think the doctor prioritized seeing my son over other patients who had been waiting. Drs are all great, but a special shout-out is due to Dr. Bennett! read more

This is an amazing practice and I feel fortunate that my boys are getting excellent care under Dr. Ahlstrom's guidance. Dr. Ahlstrom is extremely competent, personable and kind -- she NEVER rushes and gives you her undivided attention. She is seemingly always accessible. She has early morning hours every day where you can call in, and she even gave me her private cell phone number once when she was worried about my son! I am always able to get a same day sick appointment, parking is easy and free, they have Saturday hours (which we have taken advantage of a number of times), the staff/nurses/doctors know my children by first name, and unlike many other DC practices -- they take insurance! Our 3 boys see Dr. Howard Bennett at Chevy Chase Pediatrics and I wanted to recommend this physician and practice to DC area parents looking for a personal relationship with their pediatrician. Dr. Bennett meets parents-to-be during pregnancy and the relationship begins there. We have felt very confident with Dr. Bennett's diagnostic skill and attention to detail. We appreciate his availability and that we get to see him for every physical and almost every sick visit. I am not as familiar with the other physicians in this practice. He is funny and relates well with kids -- my boys love him. We have also had wonderful experiences with the nursing staff who will field questions over the phone during business hours and one of them is a lactation expert. I don't have any complaints with the wait time, as it's always seemed reasonable. The waiting room has enough to keep the kids' interest. We are glad to have found this practice and in particular Dr. Bennett and hope we're with him till the kids are grown. Thanks CCP. read more
