Personable, caring, always inquiring if I have questions, and ultra gentle. The office is beautiful and the front desk staff is awesome. I haven't given a yelp review in years but I feel in this case I really should. I switched from children's national in foggy bottom a few months ago but as anyone with little kids will know we've already more than made our mark at kenwood pediatrics due to various illnesses vaccines etc. I hesitated to switch because I loved my previous doctor but the office was no longer conveniently located for us and I often had trouble getting sick appointments. Kenwood pediatrics has been a sea change for us. I always can get a same day sick appointment which changes my life as a busy working parent. We get seen promptly and get a room quickly so we don't sit around other sick kids. The staff is all just so great. It's a personal, warm, and caring place. Most importantly Dr Nadine just helped me through my son's recent surgery process and all the uncertainty and emotion that went with that. She spent time researching my questions and was understanding of my concerns and generally such a calming and empathetic presence. She also called me back promptly-- unheard of in my previous office. She and the other staff are great with my kids and they love it there. I am so grateful we found this. read more

Wonderful practice. Dr. Nadine is exceptional. She is thorough and jokes with my children a lot. She is the best I've seen in terms of distracting my children when they are getting their shots or a finger prick. The staff is friendly and always know us by name. The thing I love the most is that you very rarely wait in the waiting room. 99% of the time, they place you in an exam room upon arrival. It's a relief not having to sit around other sick children. There are no toys so germs can't be spread. I never understood why pediatrician's offices allowed toys. The nurse practitioner and Dr. Idriss(Nadine's father) are great too! So I'm a new patient here with my first visit today with my 6 week old. Front desk staff was nice and approachable. Took insurance card, records, etc. Within 5 minutes I was placed in a room. That was awesome! The office was clean, nice and modern. Now let's get into the doctors/ practitioner: As the nurse practitioner came in, she introduced herself and began to ask me what my reason was for my visit. I proceeded with my concerns. I believe she took his temperature but not his weight or height or any other vitals for that matter. As this would be his first visit as a new patient. I thought that was a little odd, from my experience with any doctor. I thought vitals are given at EVERY visit. Ok, we are discussing options and new changes that she recommends. I took heed and valued her suggestion as a nurse practitioner but didn't seem confident with her suggestions. As, I checked out I scheduled my next visit wit the head doctor. Not to discredit the nurse practitioner, I just felt rushed with my visit. She didn't ask any questions about his feeding or anything. However, she rushed me to vaccinate my son instead. That took no time. She wasn't personable in my opinion. In my opinion as a new patient, they should ALWAYS be seen by the doctors first, sick visit or not. I'm a new patient. I will update my review in about 2 weeks when I go to the head doctor to see if there are any changes. I came here because my previous pediatrician office staff is the worst. But, the doctor was awesome! Overall, everyone seems nice and knowledgeable just wasn't impressed with the practitioner. Would have been a 5 star rating. read more

I have four kids- when we moved to this practice they were ages 1-6, now they're 2-8 years old. It feels like are here almost weekly with viruses, injuries and vaccinations. We've seen all of the doctors and NPs, and they're truly a wonderful bunch. Dr. Nadine Idriss even stayed at the office late one night to help me flush my toddlers eye after he threw mulch at the playground, and she got us in with a specialist early the next morning. They've seen us through Covid, multiple broken bones, scratched retina, growing pains, mental health and more. I can't recommend them enough. We've never had an issue getting a timely appointment. Very efficient, speedy practice - they usually send you to a room right as you enter the office. No long horrible wait times like at other doctors' offices. Front desk staff is friendly. We've had a couple of times when we've needed last minute appointments and they've always been able to squeeze us in. The waiting area and rooms are super clean, well-decorated, brightly colored. The doctors here have more of a European style approach. They're no nonsense, not warm and fuzzy (this style works for me - I don't need to do small talk with my doctors. They focus on the patient.) Dr. Idriss - both father and daughter - are incredible pediatricians. Their office is clean, modern, and fun. Their staff is always friendly and efficient, and thanks to their reminder calls, I never forget appointments. Anytime I need school forms filled out, turnaround is quick. The doctors are so great at putting nervous toddlers at ease. The practice very much has a family feel. My normally timid daughter actually gets excited about going to the doctor. They've never had a problem getting my kids in the same day for urgent appointments. Best of all, the doctors don't use nurses for vaccines or other lab work. Anything that deals with the child directly, the doctors do 100% of the work. Nobody other than the doctors has ever touched my children. It's so reassuring. Added bonus: there is a toy store just across the street. read more

We came to Kenwood Pediatrics after having a terrible experience at Washington Pediatrics Associates. And this place has been great so far, I am so glad we decided to switch. This is a very efficiently run practice. The wait room is clean and the wait itself is very short - 10 minutes on average. It is easy to get appointments - including same day appointments for a sick child visit. And the doctors are available to answer your questions when you need. I've called in on a couple occasions and have been able to speak to the doctor. The front desk staff is professional. The doctors are not overly effusive with parents, but they are great with kids. Dr. Ziad gave me excellent tips on how to deal with my daughter's excema - my previous pediatrician had told us to go see a pediatric dermatologist who gave us the exact same advise as Dr. Ziad! I would highly recommend this practice to parents. read more

Dr. Nadine is absolutely amazing! My daughter had nursemaids elbow (which is a dislocation of the radial head from where it usually sits caused by a sudden pull on the extended pronated forearm) and we took her to the hospital to get it fixed. The ER doctors could not fix it for their life. We brought her to Dr. Nadine and she fixed it instantly!!! We love her and highly recommend her! read more

I am a father of 3 and experienced several pediatricians in various places I've lived around the country. This is by far the worst pediatrician practice we have ever dealt with ! The main doctor (Dr. Idriss) is rude and aggressive. He does not listen, just wants to show off his Harvard credentials. He appears annoyed when you talk to him, whatever the situation. He is permanently criticizing our decision to bring or not the kids to his office (whatever you do, he acts like you should have done the other way). OK, he thinks he is very smart, but seems to ignore the fact he is not the only educated person in the room... to the point he ends up insulting common sense. They prescribe lots of unnecessary procedures and end up invoicing items that are never done. For instance, they would split standard checkup visits in 2, asking you to come back the next day, so that they could invoice a new visit. The slightest question you ask about your kid's health ends up being invoiced as a standalone emergency procedure. We have various times explicitly requested certain procedures not to be performed, and they have either done them anyways, or not done it, but invoiced them. When you challenge this, the response is "this is covered by the insurance anyway". Overall feeling is we are getting extorted. We have been using this practice for 18 months and don't intend to go back there again anytime soon. I strongly recommend the insurance companies should seriously investigate this kind of practices, their invoicing habits appear fraudulent. read more

This is a father and daughter practice. They are the most unkind people to ever disgrace the field of medicine. My pets veterinarian has more bedside manner in her pinky toe than these two combined could muster in 5 minutes. They will ask you questions in a condescending manner. They will fail to answer your question if they don't think its a good question. They will shame you if something you did as a parent is not to their liking. They are discourteous. I tried for years to be patient with them and I am mad at myself for not switching from them immediately. Today was the last straw. I called because my 6 month old (2nd child) has had a cold and I want them to check his lungs. They said they doubt they can see him unless we stop going to childrens national and switch to them for his primary care. They are not concerned about a child's well being. They missed an opportunity to lure a patient in with amazing care for an immediate concern and they lost two patients forever. read more

I am a Registered Nurse. I have taken my son to both Dr Idriss's since he was an infant. He has had the best care I could imagine. When he had to go to the ER for an allergic reaction, Dr Nadine called to check up on him. Parking is free. I have never waited more that 10 -15 min for an appointment. My questions are answered efficiently. I appreciated Dr Ziad for gently scolding my son at 5 yrs of age - telling him he cannot be disrespectful to his mother even though he felt sick. He had my son apologize to me. The way he managed that so impressed me. His venipuncture skills are impressive. His vast experience makes him super efficient. I hope he never retires. And Dr Nadine compassionately told me not to let my son see me cry when he had strep so frequently that I became overwhelmed. She helped me get my act together so I could care for my son. Their experience has helped me manage parenting. I love their staff. They are cheerful. My son was sick frequently when younger and they were so supportive and compassionate. read more

I am extremely pleased with this practice! I was previously living in Northern NJ and my pediatrician recommended this practice upon moving. He was friends with Dr. Nadine and spoke highly of her intelligence level as well as her fathers. But, I scheduled with Hopkins Community Physicians due to it being closer to my home in Columbia, MD. Upon my child becoming sick Hopkins would not schedule a sick visit and said a nurse would call me back and no one ever did. I immediately called Kenwood practice to see if I could switch care to here. They took my son in immediately without ever being seen here and Dr. Idriss is wonderful. I will be using this practice as my son's PCP. I have no problem driving from Columbia to Bethesda for this amazing care. read more

We recently switched to this practice because we'd heard good things about its short wait times and Dr. Nadine. While the practice is efficient, and Dr. Nadine is great, we are changing practices because of Dr. Ziad. I just took my son for his 2 year-old well-baby check-up. Dr. Ziad asked no questions about development, behavior, milestones, etc. and performed only the most cursory physical exam (no eyes, teeth). Most horrifying was that he misread my son's immunization chart and as a result gave him an extra dose of DTaP. I realized the error once I got home and consulted the my son's chart, and called Dr. Ziad for an explanation. None was forthcoming and he didn't apologize. This is unacceptable to me and unfortunate for his daughter, who gave my other son a very comprehensive well-child visit. read more

My sons' have been patients here for six years and the care is exceptional. All of the staff are professional and courteous and the Drs Idriss very knowledgeable. Even after we moved to Kensington, I still make the trek to their office. My neighbor now brings her grandchildren here after her granddaughter had a life-threatening iatrogenic infection contracted from another doctor's office. Such an awful experience at this pediatrician. We saw Dr. Nadine and on top of being rather unhelpful and not thorough, she made my daughter afraid to even enter the office again. I took a baby and a 4 year old in for well-child visits. She never had me even remove the baby's shirt and hardly touched her. When I asked questions they were either downright dismissed or answered in a very non-committal way. ("should we get the baby her measles shot early for travel?" "Well, you could, or not. It's up to you"). My 4 year old is not a huge fan of doctors, but usually does alright. However when she didn't want to stand up to be measured, the doctor picked her up and tried to physically pin her to the wall in order to get her height. Which did not go over well. The final straw was while I was sitting in the lab for shots and Virginia Jones was talking to the doctor as she prepared shots, about another patient. "I don't know if she has autism or is just a jerk or what?" "Well her father doesn't seem to think it's autism" "I can't believe..." and it went on. I was very uncomfortable that they would talk about a child this way and in front of other patients. Overall possibly the worst and most unproductive pediatrician visit I've ever had.
