I love Chevy's. Sad, unrelated story- My buddy and I used to hit the happy hour at the Greenbelt location but that one got the to point where it was just so horrible. I mean here's the deal- sometimes bathrooms have floor drains. If those are not used regularly, the P trap in that drain evaporates and emits sewer gas. So either plug that hole up or wash the floor more - or pour a gallon of water right into it followed by two tablespoons of oil. The oil slows the evaporation and keeps the entire bar from smelling like a sewer. But, yeah, that's Greenbelt. Not THIS one. The Arundel Mills Chevy's is great. Friendly attentive staff. Great margarita strength and value. And the kitchen took the time to plate everything in an artistic way that made me pause and think- wow. Someone back there cares! Everyone here is cool. Everything here is tasty. Pro tip- got teenagers or tweens? Give them some money and tell them to meet you at Chevy's when they're done doing all that boring kid stuff. The chicken flautas were also quite good but the chili relleno was a disappointing ,tasteless cheese stuffed pepper in a flavorless batter that arrived looking like a glob on the plate. Decided to check it out while shopping. First the free chips and salsa. The chips weren't salted as far as I could tell. The salsa was so bland. I added salt and hot sauce and it was ok. Not a good start. I got a chili relleno and a chicken enchilada. The chili itself had a little crunch and spice. But the cheese was bland and just kind of ran out of it. It was deep fried but the coating was completely soggy. Not bad but certainly not good. The enchilada was fine. Chicken tasted good. Cheese on it. Could have used a sauce on it. The Mexican rice was fine. The beans were actually really good. I likes those. Service was great. She was quick and attentive. So I'd say pass on Chevys. Went here to celebrate a friends birthday. On a Saturday night around dinner time we only had a 5 minute wait. The restaurant was extremely warm, which made dining uncomfortable. We even sat in what would be the "outside" dining area, which is inside but outside of the restaurant and facing the indoor mall walkway. We thought that would be airy and cool, which it was not. Our waitress was very new and not familiar with the menu and was very slow and forgetful. The birthday girl asked for strawberry lemonade, which she always gets, and our waitress said they don't have. After we explained things, then she agreed to go check. She then forgot and instead brought back a Sprite. We had to remind her again. The birthday girl also wanted a chicken and cheese quesadilla with sour cream. Our waitress said the sour cream cost extra yet sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo comes with quesadillas. We checked with the manager and confirmed that this was not true. Getting the sour cream took forever. Our waitress kept either forgetting or saying it was on the way. When it come time to get our checks, that also took forever. I ordered the Mexicampi Shrimp Shrimp fajitas, which are sautéed with fresh diced garlic, white wine and citrus juices with a hint of chile. They come with three soft flour tortillas. I could have used a fourth. I felt like I was having to cram the shrimp onto the three. It also came with veggies, rice, guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo, sweet corn tamalito, and I ordered refried beans. The rice and beans were very salty. I ordered a side of cheese to sprinkle onto my fajitas. The staff did do a great job celebrating my friends birthday with singing, ice cream, and a sombrero. read more

Eh, I have come here before and had good experiences but tonight was just...dumb in a lot of ways. The food was good...I cannot complain about that...but it came very fast which seemed like it wasn't prepared to order...they just slapped some already cooked stuff onto taco shells and threw it on a plate. The service was what confused me...it seemed like, from the time we sat down, they were trying to get rid of us...not to mention we were sat in a weird corner at a tiny table even though there were plenty of other tables available. We sat down and the waiter took our drink order...good. He asked if we needed more time to decide...we said yes. He returned 30 seconds later with our drinks and asked again. We said we needed more time...we had menus for about two minutes at this point. He then returned again less than two minutes later...luckily my partner had made a decision and I was close to deciding...so I just picked something. The food arrived in record time for a restaurant...Burger King probably takes longer for a special order, to be honest... The food was good, yeah. But when I had eaten one taco (out of two and a tamale), Mr Waiter comes by and starts asking me about a needing a box. I say "no" and he walks off...only to return when I'm halfway into my next taco and ask again. I finish my second taco and a woman employee comes by to clear my partners plate and the salsa/chips...and she asks me about a box. I give in and take the offer...but the waiter intercepts her and comes over to ask me if I really want a box and if we want dessert and the check or what. My son went to Arundel Mills Mall, and he brought me home a meal that I'd requested from Chevys. It was suppose to be hot wings with ranch dressing, chips and queso dip, with extra guacamole. I ended up calling the store and speaking with the store manager, Steve was very nice, and understanding, as well as very accommodating, he took down my information for me to revisit for a complimentary meal, and gave my son a refund for the order that was incorrect. I did eat the hot wings, the chips and salsa that I received, this was my first time eating from this establishment. I can say that both were very good. My son got a order of Mexican Sweet Corn Tomalito, which he had gotten before, an said how yummy it was, so I tried a bit of his, and OMG that stuff is so good, its served as an appetizer, I'm southern and don't even eat corn pudding, which this is compared to, but in my book there is no comparison it is very delicious. My nephew is here from college in Florida and wanted chain Mexican food. Chevys is right around the corner. The restaurant wasn't packed but was full. We had a party of 8 and were seated within 10 minutes. Our server was very good. I wish I could remember her name. Very pleasant, came frequently with refills without asking. Bill and to-go orders were timely. Food was very good. I had black bean burrito, huge! Along with extra tamalito. Corn pudding. So delicious! The Cadillac Margarita was just yum! 1800 tequila with a shot of grand mariner. My nephew had the tamalito and shrimp appetizer and said the same. His father had mixed grill fajitas, another huge dish. He ended up taking most of it home. The only thing he was not a fan of was carnitas. Steak, chicken and shrimp were cooked perfectly. My niece had chicken flautas. Not overly fried and probably the biggest I've seen! Others had tacos and quesadillas, which you can't really mess up. My nephew's Birthday is beginning of February. I've been going to this Chevys at this location since it opened. Always enjoyed it. Sadly, yesterday was probably my last visit. First customer through the door on the day off. Host seated me right away, brought chips and salsa, and told me my server's name. Then, two customers were seated, then a table with nearly six. They all received the chips and salsa. I waited, and waited, for the server to stop by just to say she'd be with me shortly and at least to take a drink order, water at least. I tired of waiting and let the host know I was leaving. Chevy's used to be one of my favourite Mexican chain restaurants. They had a great menu with lots of variety and special entrees that changed throughout the year. Food was well prepared and full of flavor. Now, they have gone way downhill. The menu is small, without any special or seasonal entrees and the flavor is bland. For this location, here is the good and the bad... What I liked: Service! Staff is friendly and attentive. They have plenty of wait staff on duty so you are not left wanting for anything very long. Tortillas! Made fresh on site, they come out hot, soft and chewy. Cornbread. That little scoop of sweet cornbread on the side of most entrees is like a bite of desert with every meal. So good, it's a signature item here. Portion sizes. Decent sized servings for the price. What I didn't like: Meats. Pork and chicken taste like they've been boiled. No sign of being on a grill. Yes they add some flavouring, but the quality is just not there. Carnitas should have crispy bits after being fried and/or griddled just before serving, not gelatinous bits of fat clinging to it. Salsa. Very bland without much spice or flavor. Tastes like it came out of a jar. Same for the chili con queso, tastes like a canned product. And they don't serve cheese on the side with their fajitas... Who does that? Overall Chevy's still tries, but they just aren't up to what they used to be. There are plenty of better local Mexican establishments in the area that are worth going to. Certainly you can do better around the mall area as well. read more

First time ever having a waitress that chewed gum and it was honestly distracting. When seated, each table is given chips and salsa, best thing they got going! I decided to just order a bean burrito with rice, beans, and a side of queso off the top of my head. Something that I regularly order from Mexican restaurants and am satisfied with. Once our orders got to the table, I made sure I had the correct burrito due to dietary restrictions and the food deliverer mentioned there being pork in my refried beans...which was...upsetting. Kind of random to have pork in them and to not even have a vegetarian option was even more upsetting. They mentioned the black beans and replaced the plate for me. Every bean burrito I've ever had from Mexican restaurants have been made with refried beans so this was news to me, and it was a thumbs down. Not what I expected so I didn't enjoy. The true let down was when my queso arrived and it was just white shredded cheese. Never been to a Mexican restaurant and they don't have white queso dip. They had a yellow cheddar cheese dip (another thumbs down). Though the rice was good, the meal was ruined for me. Chain restaurant with glossy menus and lots of expensive drinks but if you get past that, the chips and salsa are decent and the food options are good. Is it "fresh Mex"? I thought so. They serve standard-fare Tex-Mex food which the food quality was pretty average and portion size seemed really small. Ok-so don't judge me, but YES-I went to a Mexican restaurant in Maryland when I am from San Antonio, Texas. And I enjoyed it! Located in Arundel Mills mall, this place is great. A nice selection of your typical Mexican/Tex-Mex foods. I had the veggie fajitas and they were legit. And huge! The portions were amazing as was the service. Although the restaurant was quite busy, we were seated immediately, and not only was our waiter was on top of his game but he also never let us want for anything. Delish chips/salsa, guac, tortillas, I could go on, but I won't. I didn't personally have anything from their bar however the tables around us did and they all looked amazing! Worst experience ever. That's how I'll start this review. My husband and I went to Chevy's for lunch because our past visits have always been good. One of our son's is blind and uses a walker and most everybody we encounter when we bring him is super nice and helpful. With that kind of service, it makes you want to return to a place, right? So thats what we did Wednesday. Bad idea. Right from the start the experience was lousy. As empty as it was, we were seated in the far back end of the restaurant. We weren't even offered a table outside the restaurant like usual. I joked to my husband that it seemed that they were putting the coloreds in the back of the restaurant, but the longer we were there, the more it seemed true. To top it off, our waitress was rude and unhelpful. The. Entire. Visit. So much so that I never even gave her a tip. She was that bad and that rude. The food was meh. Well, my husband said that his food wasn't bad. He had the create a combo with a cheese enchilada and a mini chimichanga. I also had the create a combo but I had the chili relleno, chicken flautas and a chicken tamale. The only thing I enjoyed was the tamale. For starters, I asked for no sauce on anything, which was done correctly surprisingly enough, but while I was ordering, the waitress kept giving me the eye every time I said something. My flautas were very greasy. As in I could drain the grease off them and fry chicken with it greasy. And my chili relleno? Well while it was done as a chili relleno should be, the batter on it was half done and also greasy. When I was done, with more than half the food left in my plate, the waitress asked me if I wanted a box and when I said no, instead of asking me if everything was alright, she snatched my plate off the table. She even damn near snatched my credit card out of my hand when I went to pay. As we left, I complained to the manager. Not because I was hoping for any compensation, but because I didn't want anyone else to have to deal with the rudeness that we did. Oh. And did I mention our food was almost $70? For lunch. W. T. F. It took a while for our server to come over. We were given complimentary chips and salsa and ordered waters. It took a little under five minutes to get 2 waters. We ordered a Fajita Steak Quesadilla and a Salsa Chicken Quesadilla. We also informed our server that wanted a Fresh Mex Combo (enchiladas) to go. She said that wasn't a problem. Our food arrives quickly after we ordered. Our quesadillas were good, but they weren't filled all the way. My mom very little chicken in 6 out of 8 quesadillas. The ones that did have chicken in them were only filled halfway. There could have been more steak on my quesadilla and again, most of them were only filled halfway. On a positive note, the guacamole, salsa, and sour cream were fresh. Service was pretty terrible. She wasn't attentive to our table or any of the other tables. One mother and daughter waited so long for her to take their order that they almost left. Our server never checked back with us after we received our food. We didn't get any refills. She came to the table to take our plates away and we reminded her about the to-go order. She said it'd be out shortly. We waited about 20 minutes for the to-go order and got the check. My mom asked for her chips and salsa for the to-go meal. You would have thought we asked her for her social security number the way she looked at us. She acted like it was a huge deal, but eventually agreed. We've never had that problem at the Annapolis location. In fact, we've never asked for chips and salsa at the Annapolis location whenever we ordered a meal to-go while we were dining in. They happily provided it for us. If she would have said "I'm sorry, that's not our policy" or something of that nature, then I would have understood, but don't give a stank face and get an attitude. Sheesh! We definitely won't return to the Arundel Mills location. We'll stick solely to the Annapolis location because of the food and service. read more
