When we arrived at 515pm on a Thursday to go to Yardbird, we were told a 30 minute wait, so we went to Chevys and were seated immediately. Overall the experience was extremely quick and the service was good, perhaps too fast? We ordered a grande margarita and fajita burrito and neither disappointed. Two people were very easily able to share the burrito platter and leave stuffed. The drink came out quickly and the burrito was on our table in less than 5 minutes. The burrito was sloppily put together, which made holding it without a bean and rice fiesta on your lap impossible, so ate with a fork and knife. The rice was very dry. The margarita was what you would expect from a chain. Nothing outstanding but got the job done. We enjoyed sitting and overlooking the mall, allowing us to people watch. Our April birthday celebration was a wonderful celebration here at Chevys. We love the food and atmosphere. We even got birthday sombreros with a birthday song from the staff. What a spread! Chips and salsa is always good. Enchiladas are tasty and colorful. We had every type of fajitas! Beef, shrimp, chicken, oh my! Or olé! Huge portions! Flavors and presentations are on point! Most of the food court offerings at Arundel Mills Outlet Mall are currently open, but seating is closed. Chevy's Fresh Mex was one of the seated dining options available so we gave it a go and were very glad we did. As soon as we were seated we were given chips and salsa. The chips are incredibly light, almost melt in your mouth, and perfectly seasoned. The smooth salsa was, to me, just the right amount of spice. My son ordered the Steak Quesadilla, which came in a nice presentation and which he consumed with gusto. I ordered the Chipotle Chicken Enchiladas. The lighter sauce was a nice change from the traditional and the filling - shredded salsa chicken, jack cheese, corn, and chipotle-sherry cream sauce was amazing. This review is on service only as the food was good. Our second trip to this location inside of a month and to be frank, the service was horrid. Three of us sat down for dinner at 7:00 pm on a Monday. Although we were greeted pretty quickly but our server was unpleasant, in fact she made us feel very unwelcome. It took almost 45 minutes to get our food for what we think was simple dishes, Chicken Flautas, Taco Salad and an appetizer, don't remember what ot was. I am disappointed that Chevy's management in Laurel did not honor their commitment to a free combo entrée for Veterans. They said that they were choosing to honor it only on Veterans Day instead of the day before as well as the Chevy's website said. They said they are a franchise, not a corporate site, and are not bound by corporate choices. Chevy's management did not train their staff, (we had asked our waiter at the beginning of the meal), nor did they post a sign saying they weren't honoring the early discount. For what it is, Chevys ain't bad. I'm not sure why I don't come here more often considering my love of Mexican and Tex-Mex food. It's probably because I avoid Arundel Mills as much as possible. My first encounter at Chevys was years ago before I even officially moved to Maryland. My most recent encounter was last week. I met up with a friend for lunch. I got the chipotle chicken enchiladas and my friend got chicken fajitas. My friend also got a sangria which looked super sweet but apparently had a little oomph to it. I have no complaints about the food honestly. They were maintaining social distancing in the restaurant. The service was ok...a little slow at times but not bad. This was my very first visit to a Chevys Fresh Mex on Friday Aug 30 2024. I had actually never heard of the place before and I have to tell you I was initially skeptical considering it's located inside a mall. I should know better than to judge a book by its cover. This was probably one of the most surprisingly great Mexican chain restaurants I've tried. The words "Fresh Mex" as part of the restaurant's name is REAL not a gimmick. Let me start with my first walk in the door. We were warmly greeted by a young man which set the tone right away. Warm chips and what appeared to be fresh, fire roasted salsa soon arrived and shortly afterwards our waitress came to take our drink order. Mind you, we arrived only a few minutes after they opened so it wasn't quite noon yet, but hey you can't go to a Mexican restaurant without trying the staple drink, classic Margarita on the rocks with salt. It was a bit on the weak side but ok it was early in the afternoon. I would probably opt for something else to drink next time. We ordered mixed fajitas, chicken and steak, with rice and charro beans. It arrived sizzling as it should and was so well presented. We also ordered the Al pastor tacos which is part of the seasonal menu with rice and charro beans. There are two things I ALWAYS expect to be great at a Mexican restaurant, the carnitas and the Al pastor with the actual pineapple mixed in not just used to marinate the pork and Chevys didn't disappoint! The restaurant was clean and the timing on the food service was excellent. I'm now disappointed because I'll be leaving the Maryland area in a few days and returning home where we don't have a Chevys in my home state of NC...hint...hint! read more

Had the 2 combo meal which consisted of a pork tamale, chili relleno, beans, and rice. The tamale seemed very dry. And though it took a few weeks to finally be able to order because of the limited quarantine menu...Chevy's is always worth the wait! No matter which location, we always get reliably delicious Mexican eats. We had never been to this location before; so to break it down.... Location: It was super easy to navigate to; located outside Arundel Mills Mall, there are lots of parking options, but we did the (well labeled) curb-side pick-up. Staff: Their staff were super friendly and had safe distancing & food handling practices. Service was super quick, even with their limited team, outside dining in full swing, curbside service lines, they still had us in and out. Food: We ordered two build-your-own-5piece-combos & theywere were delighted to discover they threw in chips & salsa for free (two bags of chips w.two little salsas to go) To-Go Packaging: holy to-go-packaging, ten items in all-they basically packaged each item in its own large plastic container, this felt super wasteful. It also caused some of the items to basically roll around on a big massive plate, losing its structural integrity (i.e my enchilada unrolled itself) Food: I ordered shrimp & crab enchilada (upcharge), pork tamale, beef chimi, pork soft shell taco, chili relleno. The enchilada was worth the upcharge; a really great green sauce, large chunks of seafood, stuffed enchi-very delicious flavor profile. The tamales aren't authentic eats but they do solve the tamale cravings. The beef chimi..PASS..the beef packed inside was a bit gready, the chimi was very heavy because it was a lot of flour tortilla, not enough filling, very very heavy, I ended up scrapping out the middle and tossing the outside. The chili relleno is what I came for; absolutely delicious, just stuffed with cheese. The rice was a bit dry, but the beans were delicious (so I mixed them together, problem solved). Our service last night at Chevy's. We got there at about 715 we had no problem getting a table. We sat in the area out in front of the mall crowd, however, we noticed that there was sauce on the floor, and on the chair legs. The waiter he came and asked for our order for drinks so we ordered first our typical style water and my daughter's soda. however he never offered us appetizers or anything like that then we placed our regular food order at that time. My husband asked for his dinner beverage, which was a Margarita our Food came to the table and his margarita did not we had to again we asked about that drink when it did finally come.
