A hole in a wall place. The place is an old diner, clean and cozy. The food real filling. Your classic Canadian breakfast. Three eggs, pea bacon, bacon, potatoes, tomatoes... omelets choices. They have all you need for a hearty breakfast. May it be savory or sweet for your morning taste. Washroom needs cleaning. Soap refilled. Other than that it's a thumbs up. Server and cooks is their asset. Friendly and hardworking. A++

Incredible, new favourite and go to breakfast diner in downtown Toronto. The food is delicious, freshly cooked diner fare and the portions are huge with exceptionally low prices especially in the context of high recent inflation. Service was friendly. The three egg breakfast was delicious and is $6.99 or $8.99 if you include a side of bacon, sausage, or ham. The service friendly and fast. I'll be back soon!

A really nice and affordable place for brunch. We ordered the great Canadian rail omelette and the eggs Benedict st Patrick - both were large portions, filling and tasty. Service was friendly and quick. We came on a monday holiday around 11:30am and were quickly seated as the place wasnt busy.

I love these non pretentious, "dive diners". Delicious food, great service... fantastic price point! Love the atmosphere.

I like the theme and the food portions are generous. I wouldn't say the breakfast is amazing but there is a large variety on the menu. I enjoyed my breakfast here and it was a great value. Overall I'd come here again for a sturdy breakfast and an ok cup of coffee

Benedicts... somewhere under the sauce :/

The plates are huge and if you don't get a big appetite, it's a waste... I ordered the Benedict, I had 4 eggs!! Unfortunately, they cannot put the appropriate amount of hollandaise. My whole plate was drowning in the sauce and I couldn't eat half of it. It was disgusting. Service very basic and slow. Probably won't return.

Checked out #chewchewdiner today bc they have the cutest little mural on the side of their store and had to come see what they're about! The portions were American sized and the price was good. I ordered the pork hot sandwich with mashed potatoes and veggies on the side. I'm not sure why the boiled veggies were a little bit sour, but if it's done on purpose please stop bc it tastes like it has gone bad. My bf loved his breakfast burger though and was very satisfied with the portion size (4/5 rating). Our friend also enjoyed his meatloaf eggs benny (3.9/5). I was impressed by the service - our server was super friendly in a genuine sort of way and very on top of her game. The waters were also always full. Unfortunately I found a hair inside my hot sandwich so was too grossed out to finish the rest of the sandwich. My experience with the food was not great, but the other tasters at my table highly enjoyed their food. Price - 11.99 for hot pork sandwich Nom factor - 3/5 Service - 5/5

At first, the restaurant doesn't look like much but the server, Gray, was so friendly right off the bat. Their service was above and beyond from the moment we stepped through the door until the moment we left. Then the food was amazing, I was expecting just regular diner food if that makes sense. Gray suggest we try the avocado, bacon egg dish with fancy hot sauce and omg it was so good!! I will definitely be going back

Another homerun in Toronto! I love the hole-in-the-wall places. The hidden gems where only locals dare tread...why? because they are usually the best place around. Chew Chew is one of them. Greeted by a friendly staff, lead to a booth that has seen more butts in it than I could care to imagine. To follow is a classic fry up that these places are famous for. The peameal bacon and eggs was plenty and by no means would you leave hungry. If you want linen napkins and cut glass goblets...this isn't the place for you. If you want good service and good food in a local atmosphere, this is a gem in Toronto.

I decided to have dinner here before seeing They Might Be Giants at the Phoenix. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the staff is just attentive enough. I had the Friday night fish special (whitefish) and enjoyed the large portions. Everything was hot, greasy and exactly right. Coleslaw oily and vinegary, classic. My friend stood me up, so I ended up hanging out here for more than an hour, reading a novel and drinking tea. Staff never made me feel like I should pay up and leave, even after I offered when I saw the room start to fill up. All in all, a perfect place in Moss Park to hide from a cold, dark, wet night.

Big portions! Decent taste .... but when the pancakes are served darker than my complexion it's time to go!

I was really surprised that this place was not busy. The food was fantastic and the service was great. Alex our waiter was right on with the menu and service . Very pleased and will certainly be coming back.

We had White Lily on our list for a while and were happy to finally try them…read more They open at 9am everyday and the online waitlist starts at 9:15am on their website. You can enter your name and party size and you'll be informed how many people are in front of you in the lineup; that way, you can plan your approximate arrival time. You can check the status of the lineup with the link texted to you. Once your table's ready, you'll receive a text message with 10 minutes grace per. There are 7 booths and 5 bar chairs available for dine-in. The menu feels different from a typical diner and offers great variety of comfort food and drinks. We ordered "Sweet Potato Salad", "Southern Breakfast", and "Hot Turkey". The Southern Breakfast was a filling plate with eggs, bacon, grits, gravy, fermented greens and their famous buttermilk biscuit, while the Hot Turkey was a really interesting combination of stuffing French toast, smoked turkey, gravy, cranberry chutney and maple butter. The Sweet Potato Salad was a nice side to balance out the heavier dishes, and everything had that homemade comfort-food feel. The staff are friendly and helpful and there's Green P parking available on Queen East.

Not sure if we just ordered the wrong thing or if their mains are bad…read more We ordered the Hashbrowns, the Buttermilk Biscuits, and the Hot Turkey. The Hashbrowns were actually very good! Really crispy and delicious, they were definitely prepared well and hit the spot. I couldn't have asked for better hashbrowns. The buttermilk biscuits were also really fluffy and tasted good. No complaints here. The Hot Turkey French Toast however... I think they should remove this off the menu. We ordered it because it sounded interesting and we like to think of ourselves as adventurous foodies, but oh wow this was bad! We ate 2 bites each and couldn't eat more. Its just really dense and fatty and the gravy is way too overpowering and the flavors just don't go together. We were starving and hadn't eaten all day and couldn't get ourselves to eat more than 2 bites because we were frankly disgusted. It tasted really bad. DO NOT ORDER THIS. We came for a 2pm lunch on a Tuesday, and they told us the wait would be around 15-20mins which we said was fine. However, we ended up waiting 40mins, and we suspect that they let other people in front of us (told there were 2 parties of 2 in front of us but let in 3 parties). It gave diner vibes but was definitely more cramped. Was busier than I expected on a random Tuesday at 2pm. Low rating is for the awful main and the longer-than-promised wait time. But I do have to give them credit for the tasty apps. We might've just ordered the wrong thing on the menu but we're not coming back to find out, especially if the wait will always be this long.

The atmosphere was welcoming and had the classic charm you'd expect from a neighborhood favorite. Unfortunately, our experience didn't quite live up to the hype. The food was decent but fairly average. Nothing was particularly bad, but nothing stood out as memorable either. The Irish breakfast was not Irish at all. For a place with such a strong reputation, I expected more flavor and attention to detail. The biggest disappointment was the service. The service was slow, they never checked on the table, and several requests (3 of the 5 drinks, syrup for the french toast, water refills) were either forgotten or took a long time to arrive. The restaurant wasn't especially busy, which made the lack of attentiveness even more noticeable. About 20 mins after we finished our food, we decided to head inside to pay and then our server noticed we left and accused us of walking on our tab but we had the payment receipt! I can see why some people may enjoy this spot, and perhaps I visited on an off day, but based on this experience, I found the food ordinary and the service well below expectations.

Sadly there was no chair for her to sit down on yet it didn't stop her from going to her regular spot for a Sunday brunch. She told me that she has been coming here for many years, even before it was called Sammy's. Has it been 30 years, she asked herself? Either way, she made it known that she is quite the regular. Very nice and friendly lady. These are the types of regulars that make the diner what it is. There is a sign in clipboard at the front, as soon as you walk in. You have to sign in as part of contact tracing in case there is an outbreak of COVID linked back to this establishment. Make sure you do not block the pathway from behind the bar, I didn't block it but a large family with several kids needed a place to stand in line and wait for a big table, because servers will get very mad at you and tell you "I NEED TO GET BY! DON'T BLOCK THE WAY!" But there is no where to stand when the lineup is 20 people deep. This is something to think about once the weather gets colder and there is a long lineup out the door. Perhaps takeout would be a better option than to be yelled at by the short haired waitress with tattoos? While I did not mind waiting and I had a book to occupy my time in the lineup and at the table before I was given the menu, I could see that this was obviously a rush time, prime time lunchtime at the diner, maybe others might be a little more impatient than me? I could watch a snail crawl for hours, patience is a virtue. The wait is very long to get seated and even longer to get food. While the food was pretty good, and the other server was very friendly, attentive and nice, I think they were short staffed that day and nothing is ever as instant as fast food. My advice would be to go here when you have the time to wait. Don't come here if you are in a rush. It's better to only come here when you have lots of time to wait.

From the moment you land, you're surrounded by awesome alien and UFO décor that's fun, nostalgic, and packed with personality. If you're looking for a place with zero atmosphere... this isn't it. This place is out of this world. The crew here is incredibly friendly and welcoming, proving that if aliens ever do visit Earth, they're apparently running this restaurant. The food deserves its own five stars. We had the Eggs Benedict, Belgian waffles, perfectly crispy home fries, and the absolutely massive 12-ounce steak and eggs. Every bite was fantastic, the portions were enormous, and the prices were shockingly reasonable for Niagara Falls. One of the coolest touches? Instead of waiting for coffee refills, they leave a whole carafe of hot coffee on your table. My caffeine levels reached escape velocity, and I was perfectly happy about it. Here's the biggest compliment I can give: we came back the very next morning because we couldn't stop thinking about it. Same amazing food, same friendly service, same awesome atmosphere. Whether you're a local, a tourist, or just passing through this corner of the galaxy, make this your first breakfast stop.
