Our house was in pretty bad shape. We got estimates from three companies. Chewelah painting was the highest estimate, but we went with them because their estimate was the most detailed. The crew we had was amazing and I feel like I have a new house! I highly recommend this company. We had someone hired to paint last year but after taking our deposit it never got done. Chewelah Paint did an awesome job restaining our house and garage. It had been 15+ years since last stained by us. We swore then we would leave the next time to the professionals. We contacted Chewelah Paint for a bid and they promptly sent out Mike M within a week to give us an estimate. Mike was very thorough in explaining to us the condition of our wood and the process of pressure washing with a product that would both clean and brighten the wood prior to staining. His estimate included the full scope of work which included painting the trim, staining soffits and sanding and refinishing the tongue and groove cedar in the breezeway. When we learned the estimate also included the attached garage we were sold. The owner, Mike B emailed us a contract to review, we signed, sent deposit and they started our project within the next few weeks. The painters, Sam and partner, were very professional yet friendly. They explained what the plan was for each day. They were conscientious with taping and masking off the working area and always cleaned up before they left. After initial pressure washing and drying, they came back and finished the project in 8 days and it looks fantastic! We have had so many compliments on how great the house looks and as we sit on our back deck we love how bright, fresh and uniform the house is! We are an elderly couple who could not paint the upper level of our older home. We had Chewelah Painting paint the upper level of our home last September. The paint blistered on the end gables. I sent pictures to them. The company owner Mike Bellevue promised to stop by twice last fall in person to look at it. No show both times. I called again last fall, and they promised that they would not forget me and would be contacting me first thing in the spring of 2025 to plan to make it right. I am still waiting, and we are over halfway through 2025. What bothers me too is the owner never came to look at our home before making the quote or after the job ended badly. He just had us send him pictures. I guess Mike Bellevue thinks that if he ignores you long enough you will go away. Or maybe our old home is not glamorous enough to bother with to make the job right. We paid the full amount of the bid before we noticed the blistered paint. They made their money. We got the shaft. I can only warn others of our experience. As far as I am concerned Mike Bellevue and his businesses are not trustworthy and can do shoddy work. I can only conclude that Mike Bellevue feels no regret in screwing over elderly retirees that live on extremely limited incomes and resources by refusing to correct the inferior work they do. So, beware of Chewelah Painting or Mike Bellevue General Contractors or whatever business names he now has. read more

Threw paint water on our grass, and near our new garden and then by our new trees. All near our well. Conrscting the office is no help. The office said they tried very hard to fill our requests which was a lie..... only requests were help with paint colors and finishes. Sub par work. Very very disappointed. read more

If I had it to do over, I would not have used this company. We were told the company did both carpentry and painting. They said they would send a person out, go over the house and repair or replace anything on the exterior prior to painting. They did not do this and sent a crew out to do the prep work, and this crew just did a quick paint scrape and caulk job. I called Mike and reminded him that he was supposed to send someone out to make repairs or replace some areas on the exterior of the home prior to paining. He said he would send someone out the following Monday or Tuesday to do that, and wouldn't charge me for "touch up" paint, and to let the prep crew keep working. Mike never sent anyone or even called back on this issue. Long before the paint crew showed up, we told the company they could not paint while the roofers were working due to dust, at the request of the roofer. The roofers has started their work prior to the painters starting their work. The company just ignored this request, and painted while the roofer was working. We had also gotten a bid from the company to install some cabinets in our kitchen. My wife talked to Mike the week before, and Mike said they would be there on Monday or Tuesday to do the work. When my wife didn't hear from anyone all day Monday, she texted him and his response was that he had to rearrange some things and would call Tuesday morning. Again, we never heard back. At this point I had seen all I needed to see and actually was concerned with allowing them to do any more work. I called and left a message with Mike that we wouldn't be needing him to do anymore work and we would just pay for the work he had already completed, which we did. Very frustrating experience. If I had it to do over, I would have used a different company. read more

We are absolutely thrilled with the beautiful work that Mike Bellevue and the guys - Chris, Deon, Caleb, Stuart and Brandon at Chewelah Painting did for us. We had a very huge project - two large old barns, a three-bedroom home, and several outbuildings, all of which needed to be repaired, painted, and stained. We also live in a rural remote area and Mike had to haul in two Genie lifts and a water tank to get the job done. We never ever could have imagined how wonderful everything would turn out. It is fantastic! When we first spoke with Mike Bellevue over the phone, we were immediately impressed. Mike is an extremely smart and ethical businessman. We spent about 45 minutes talking to him about our ideas and project, and then we set up an in person meeting with him at our farm. For that meeting, we spent about 2 hours with Mike talking about and walking around the project site. Mike was punctual and very professional. He was also very enthusiastic and had great ideas on how best to tackle the project. Throughout our planning and project, Mike communicated very effectively via phone, email and text, and he promptly responded back to us if we had any questions.Mike really helped us with our unique color choices, too. He had large "color drawdowns" done by Sherwin Williams and sent them to us, so we knew exactly how the paint and stain would look on the barns and house. Mike also sent the color samples to us via FedEx, so we would have them the next day in order for us to finalize our choices, which was very helpful. Throughout the project, Mike and the guys were so pleasant, respectful, and easy to work with. Each and every day the guys arrived with smiles on their faces and at the end of each workday, they always cleaned up the worksite leaving everything spotless. While never rushing, the guys ​ worked from sunrise to sunset to get everything completed in a timely fashion. In our opinion, they go above and beyond to strive for perfection every step of the way! They also had amazing pride in their work and really took their time making sure not to make any mistakes. They were meticulous, and they taped off areas with paper, plastic and tape. They were so detailed oriented and saw things and pointed out things that we never noticed. For example: The hardware on the barn was old and worn out, but Deon hand-painted the metal to make it really standout and "pop"! The guys always went the extra step to enhance the outcome of all of the painting projects, and everything looks truly amazing! When the job was all done and completed, we were really sad to say goodbye to them. They are such nice guys. We will definitely call on Mike and the guys at Chewelah in the future for any projects that we might have and would highly recommend them to everyone for any project big or small. Read the review post on 21 Sept 2017 and its just the opposite. We didn't get the crew, the paint, or the attention to detail these folks got and we were being done at the same time. What we got was an undermanned sub-contractor to do a 3 story Victorian home. One carpenter who had difficulty handling the replacement of some of the siding product by himself because of size and weight. And we didn't get the Sherwin Williams paint we were promised because Chewelah said they were having difficulties with the quality of the paint but it was apparently good enough for two large old barns, a three-bedroom home, and several outbuildings. And best of all, on day 2, the carpenter clipped out main electrical line, tripping the entire house. Instead of fixing it immediately, Chewelah waited until the house was almost "done" to fix it. After several calls and promises that the Chewelah electrician would be out to fix it, we had to get a local electrician to address it. Why? Because the Chewelah electrician wasn't licensed in our state. Hmm, you would think that someone at Chewelah would have known that instead of making empty promises. Chewelah left us with a lovely hole in our siding and damage to our drywall in the garage that we had to address with local contractors because addressing it wasn't a priority to Chewelah even though they stated they would be "Johnny on the Spot" to get it repaired. I highlighted "done" because that house was never completely finished. We had to tag and retag paint issues several times and finally after getting the sub contractor our to address the areas we couldn't reach, we gave up and are addressing the areas we can access ourselves. In our opinion, If you want THE ABSOLUTE BEST, don't hesitate for a minute---Call someone other then Chewelah Painting. read more

Mike and his crew helped me with an interior paint project for a 1200 sq ft home. They were fast and efficient in getting it prepped and painted. The quality of work was superb and turned out fantastic! Mike went above and beyond even when we were faced with some difficult challenges. From a distance, my house looks great. It is an older house and there were areas where the siding and paint were in bad condition. Chewelah Painting came out and scraped the house, also removing most of the old caulk. Unfortunately, they did not feel it was important to replace all of the caulk they removed. They didn't even caulk around the window on the garage. I was told that my house tested positive for lead paint, so they would have to charge extra for the extra labor involved. I cleaned up a lot of paint scrapings. I would not like to see what it would have been like if they had not been extra careful. They used a heavy duty primer that is supposed to cover a multitude of problems and even out the look of the paint. Everywhere that they scraped off old paint is obvious. They said they used 7 extra gallons of paint and 5 extra gallons of primer but didn't think they should let me know that I would be seeing a sizable increase in the final bill? I have decorative metal fencing that I moved out of the way for them, but they still managed to get overspray on it. I cleaned up plastic from the drop cloths they used. They also left the cardboard boxes for me to recycle for them. They got paint on one of my screens. They came out to fix some of the issues on a Friday. They did not fix all of them. They caulked some of the spots they missed including the garage window. They bought a roll of screen and a splining tool and left it for me to replace the screen myself. A woman from their office called me that Friday morning. After I spoke to her, I spoke to the owner also. I told him I would meet him at the house at 2. They were long gone when I got home. I emailed the owner regarding how unhappy I was. He met me at my house. He looked at some of the issues. He told me my house was just in such bad shape and they had done their best. He said they hadn't replaced the screen for me because I wasn't at home so that it could be removed. I reminded him that we were supposed to have met that Friday at 2, but he said he didn't remember that call. He said he would send his painters out to fix the issues. As I wondered how many times it would take, I said no. He gave me a credit on my bill for the extra paint and called it good. I called it disappointing. read more

I have used Chewelah Painting now a couple times and recommended them to some friends. I've been very pleased with the attention to detail and quality of the job they have done. The on site crew is always pleasant and courteous. Mikes been great even when I've bugged him on weekends with questions. They have repaired and painted our mobile home on the river, sanded and stained our deck and built a matching railing to an existing railing, recently they have painted the interior trim of my new commercial building. Next they are prepping to stain my home, paint my vinyl window trim and stain my deck again (it's just time). I'm very happy and turn to them for most any project I want done. I promise to update my review if any future projects don't go well but I don't anticipate that based on the multiple projects they e done so far.
