We had an eye appointment scheduled for my son, but unfortunately we missed it because we never received a reminder call. While I understand that it's our responsibility to keep track of appointments, most clinics do provide a courtesy reminder, and we've relied on those in the past. It was disappointing not to get that extra heads-up, especially when it's for something important like my child's health. I hope the clinic can improve their communication or reminder system in the future to help avoid situations like this. We do appreciate the care they've provided in the past and hope to continue with them, just with a little more consistency on reminders. Terrible service from both front desk and medical personnel. They overcharge, never communicate the change in appointments or charges. I got a bill in mail today from over a year ago and it's the first time I am hearing about it. Dr Schmidts was supposed to refer me to colorado for a retinal doctor. I called the office 2 times to let them know no one has called me to set things up in Colorado. I notified the office 2 times about this, and 4 weeks later I still have nothing from either office. I'm done with these places that just don't give a hoot about your care. I was mystified by the negative reviews for CEC. I have been a patient of Dr. Miller's for 15 years. I have an unusual form of glaucoma and have always been a tricky patient. Dr. Miller has preserved my vision for which I am forever grateful. I've had several surgeries that have been successful in maintaining my vision. In the hands of a lesser physician I could be blind by now. As far as the rest of the staff I have always had positive experiences with all the techs. Reading previous negative reviews it appears that a "bad hire" may have been the problem. This can happen in any business and this doctor is no longer with the practice. If I could give negative stars I would! Went there for a eye exam was having trouble with my left eye. I thought it might have been a cataract. So went through the exam and Dr Bowman looked at my eyes! Dr Bowman set me up for a appointment with Dr Miller had to wait a month for that with my detached retina! Saw Dr Miller and was told it wasn't a cataract but a detached retina! Dr Bowman should have seen the detached retina but it was above her capabilities!Dr Miller said she would set me up a appointment with someone. After a day of not hearing back I found a great eye doctor in Fort Collins! I wouldn't trust Cheyenne Eye Clinic with cleaning my glasses! Don't go there! I will never go there again and I will tell my friends and family to stay away from them far away! Thanks to Cheyenne eye clinic I have lost the sight in that eye! Totally incompetent! read more

Terrible experience. each time I brought up an issue, the canned response was basically, sorry, COVID. This was my first time working with this clinic. 1) took multiple attempts to make an appointment. 2) when I finally had a spot, the actual optometrist spent less than 2 minutes with me. The exam was done by an assistant who while nice, seemed unsure of my prescription. 3) After waiting 6 weeks for my trial lenses to arrive, The prescription was incorrect, when I questioned why I needed to pay additional for a fitting although I have been wearing contacts for 15 years, and the prescription was incorrect they said that's just our policy. I haven't been charged a fitting fee in about 12 years. 4) the corrected prescription was noted, and I ordered my new lenses that day because I was moving and my insurance was not going to be valid if I waited another 5 weeks for the lenses to arrive. after waiting 5-6 weeks, I called and THE LENSES WERE NEVER ORDERED. thus losing the ability for my lenses to be covered by my previous insurance. 5) I asked for my prescription to be sent to me so I could order through my new insurance, and guess what..... I NEVER RECIEVED IT. 6) I called to have the prescription resent to me via email this time and they do not offer that. They stated it must be mailed. I give up, $300 and 4 months into the wind for absolutely nothing. This clinic seems to have many senior citizens as clients. I truly feel that Medicare and these folks might be getting ripped off unintentionally by the pure incompetence by the office staff. read more

I found out it was the office manger speaking with The gentleman. I now have no confidence in the clinic why would you speak about this around patients and air your dirty laundry. I'm copying what I posted on Facebook so everyone can understand the full picture of this establishment: Wait times are literally 45 minutes into your appointment time and they cannot get prescriptions correct meaning you needed to come back in numerous times to get your vision corrected. When you did get to a room, the other incompetent techs would come in and interrupt your appointment. There's obviously poor training among staff and a lack of urgency. I've never had an issue with any of the providers. After being a patient for more than 20+ years there has been a rapid decline in services, especially since all of the original providers have left. I will not be coming back and I will be advising all family and friends the same. read more

I find it interesting that one of the doctor's wives gave a glowing review. Seems a bit dishonest wouldn't you say? The doctors are okay I suppose but anything complicated gets shipped to Denver, CO. With that being said their desk staff are about as smart as a box of rocks. Their billing staff? Try having an intelligent convo with them when they bill the WRONG insurance company, and then have to write off the bill due to timely filing, which in my case the idiots billed me. Knowing they were contractually obligated to write the charges off due to their ineptness, I refused to pay. So they decided to turn the $100.00 over to a collection service. Guess what? they will NEVER see that money from me, and I will NEVER give them another dime of my hard earned money. read more

My experience with Cheyenne Eye Clinic (henceforth CEC) began as I was trying to use my vision insurance before moving and changing jobs. I called CEC to find out how much an eye exam for glasses and contacts would cost. Even though my insurance does pay over $100 for an exam, different places will charge you additional fees for things like "lens fitting fees". This additional amount varies from $0 to over $150, depending only upon how deeply the particular business wants to gouge you. When I called, I was told that they couldn't give me an exact or even an estimated cost. I decided to stop in, check out their inventory, and see if I could get any further information on the actual costs I was facing. CEC did carry the brand of prescription sunglasses I was interested in. I decided to check with the front desk to see exactly how far they were going to go with additional charges for an exam, of course this is on top of the $120 my insurance already pays them. I was told it was at least $120 extra but they could/would not give me an exact figure because it can vary depending on which type of lenses I need. I informed her that I have been wearing the same type of contact lenses for many years and perhaps she could check with someone who had more information/knowledge/authority and possibly assume that I will need the same type of lenses I have always used (soft, disposable) and just give me a soft quote based on that information. She checked with the billing manager who reaffirmed that they could not/would not give me a dollar amount. I would have to simply go forward with the exam and see how much they wanted to charge me afterwards. Unbelievable! I declined and got my exam done elsewhere where my exam was completely covered by insurance without paying an additional $120+. So I say no thanks to their $250 eye exam and return with my prescription from another company (interestingly enough, the same doctor works where my exam was free as well as this place where they wanted an additional $120+?). They carry the particular brand of sunglasses I wanted so I figured I would just get my glasses here. Fine, ordered them, paid, waited to get them, about 10 days pass and the sunglasses are in. I try them on and the periphery of the lenses are so distorted that I couldn't see anything clearly once I looked only a few degrees off of straight ahead. I told them I could not wear these, I would get headaches, and be unable to safely drive or do anything more than sit in a lawn chair and get headaches. They informed me that the curve (or wrap) of the frame coupled with the strength of my prescription was what was causing this, that it was normal, and suggested that I try them for a week and I would probably get used to them. I refused, told them I wanted a different pair. We picked out another pair of frames with a flatter profile, even measured the curvature and decided that this pair would have a better result. I again wait for the new glasses to come in. Again, the sunglasses are unwearable due to severe distortion of my peripheral vision. I was able to find another suitable pair of sunglass frames and agreed that if they didn't work, I would just be stuck with them. I wait another 10 days or so for these to come in. Lo and behold, I could actually see out of them! Finally! Unfortunately, I didn't inspect these glasses very closely and once I got to my car, I noticed a significant scratch on the lens. Unbelievable! Third pair of glasses, over a month of waiting, and I do not have a suitable pair of glasses. So, I have to send the entire frame/lens back to Maui Jim, they will not simply send me another set of unscratched lenses. No, I have to wait for shipping back and forth, and at least 3 days turnaround time at their factory. Finally, by this time, my move date is upon me. I will not be able to use these for my upcoming backpacking trip, which was the main reason I wanted them in the first place. So instead of just having Maui Jim immediately send out an unblemished pair, I am waiting for shipping both ways and for them to screw around with the same pair of glasses. I cannot, in any aspect of their service, recommend CEC. The only redeeming details were that I did get a more expensive pair of frames without being charged the extra cost and they are still "trying" to get me a suitable pair of glasses. What I would like to see is them clearly explaining something like, "hey, before we order these, you should know that with those frames and your prescription, you will have significant distortion of your peripheral vision." Wow, how that would have been helpful. This is clearly a known issue and I cannot understand why they would not discuss this important detail prior to ordering a $500 pair of sunglasses. It's hard to imagine a more inconvenient and frustrating experience while just trying to do simple things like getting an eye exam and a pair of prescription sunglasses. read more

Appointment with Dr. Nottage. Worst experience ever. Started to pluck my eyelashes out; never disinfected or wiped down eyes prior to doing this. Never told me what she was doing and why. Next told me I had cataracts, I do not. Then told me I had to buy $30 over the counter eye drops every month, could not explain why. The medical assistant not doctor completed the eye exam and the doctor never reviewed my prescription with me. Lastly, had the worst HALITOSIS aka breath stunk like poop. Please, if you want to play eye doctor, brush your teeth, tongue, roof of mouth, etc. Will not be back. I did report this very less than desirable experience to insurance and they approved me for another fully covered visit. STAY AWAY!!! Have since seen another eye doctor who confirmed that they have never heard of an eye doctor plucking eye lashes out of a patient; confirmed no cataracts via retinal scan (pay the extra money for this test) and eye drops are optional, not mandated, eye exam performed and reviewed with me by the eye doctor. read more

I have wore contacts for 27 years. I was charged for a "contact Fitting" which was stuck on me half way through the exam process. I have never been gouged for a "fitting" before. They wouldn't give me the prescription for my contacts until I came back to make sure they were fitting!! Well they aren't getting my contact business for sure nor my families future business. In health care, if you ever feel like you are being up-sold like a shady car dealership, something is WRONG! It will cost them in the long run!! read more

Last year my wife had a bad experience with Dr. Nottage and she will not be back to this clinic. I myself had an eye exam at this clinic this week and had requested not to have Dr. Nottage for my exam. This time my Dr. was Taylor Bowman and it was a very pleasant change. I highly recomment her. Was hopeful that seeing ophthalmologist would help determine what is wrong with my eye. Was called on day of appointment to cancel because the specialist was all-of-a-sudden no longer seeing patients in their practice. Was called 5 days later to be rescheduled a week later with a different physician. Saw Dr. Nottage. Likely a talented physician, but sub-par bedside manner. Said there was nothing wrong with my eye. My eye hurts like something is in it, and has blurring and flashes for many months. I guess I expected more. If nothing was visually wrong, why were there no differential diagnoses. Just saying there is nothing wrong when there clearly is to the patient is poor medicine. What a wasted morning. I won't go back or refer anyone there. Had my yearly exam this week and met my new doctor. Exam with the technician was routine and every other year, anyone knows who has glasses/contacts you get your eyes dilated for cataracts. When I checked out they charged me $30 for "contact fitting". I've been wearing the same type for over 5 years; no change in prescription. They didn't do anything extra. Just wanting an extra charge for more money. I paid $30 for a new prescription. I don't buy my contacts through them. I use 1-800-contacts. What a scam since the new doctors took over; extra charges for more money. Going someplace else. read more

I took my 85 year old father to a referral appointment for cataract surgery. They put my Dad through numerous eye exams, even though the referring optometrist had given him an extensive eye exam. Over 2 hrs later we met with Jennifer Nottage, MD. She was so rude to my father who is hard of hearing. She talked to him like he was an errant child and if I tried to clarify for him she would talk down to me and talk over me. She did everything in her power to discourage the surgery even though she confirmed the cataracts and confirmed that it would help his vision. When I told her I would like to explain something to my father she talked to me like I was an ignorant uneducated person and told me she would not have me putting words in his mouth (?). I finally told her I thought she was ridiculous and left. My father who really can't hear found the whole experience confusing because he really wants the surgery because it helped his mother and his best friend. SMH!!!! THE ONLY REASON I'M leaving a star is because the eye exam technician was super nice, very patient! read more

I showed up on time for my 8am appointment, just a one week contact check back. Despite being the first appointment of the day, I waited about twenty minutes to see the technician. After that, I was placed back in the waiting room until well after 9am when another technician came with my signed prescription and told me she didn't know why they had me sitting there. Is there not a standard procedure here? Is there no communication? I also was a customer many years ago and paid for a "one time contact fitting fee." However they've changed systems since then so I once again paid for a "one time contact fitting fee," even though they acknowledged that I was a previous contact lens customer. During my original appointment Dr. Hubbard went so far to roll her eyes at me when I didn't have a spare pair of contacts with me to wear home after they threw away the pair I wore in. Abysmal customer service. I do not recommend, and I will not be back. read more

I chose this eye center for my family and it has been a complete roller coaster. I personally had a good experience which is the only reason this is getting 1 star. However, my wife had a horrendous experience. A regularly scheduled eye checkup cost her 2 hours, with 25 minutes waiting after my scheduled appointment. Then the assistants took her back and proceeded to dilated her eyes without her consent which caused huge problems as she drove herself. Not only that, but they never got her consent or gave her any paperwork to complete upon arriving. Then she had to wait in a second waiting room for another 25 minutes until the Dr. Nottage came in. When she told the doctor that her consent was not given and they shouldn't have dilated her eyes, Dr. Nottage said that a dilation should be expected at each visit. She felt like Dr. Nottage was talking down to her and treating her like a child. This is ridiculous! Needless to say the simple eye check took over 2 hours! Because of the dilation and time 2 other scheduled appointments had to be cancelled. When she finally got to leave they asked how to make her visit here better. My response is simple. I visited this eye clinic two years ago and had the worst experience I have ever had with an eye clinic. The doctor's assistant was competent and friendly. I was then put in a waiting room for the doctor (she no longer works at the business). The female doctor did not enter the waiting room and call my name.....she stood around the corner in the hallway and shouted my name until I got up and came around. She was short and her customer service was nonexistent. She allowed me to leave the exam room with yellow guck all around my eyes. After this unfortunate experience, I looked forward to picking out my glasses. Big mistake. Absolutely no one assisted me, until I had picked out a pair of frames. Finally the total on my glasses with insurance came to twice the amount of my previous eye doctor. Then the glasses seller told me that this was the estimated price for my glasses. I would have to pay more later if her calculations were incorrect. Guess what.........two weeks later I received a bill that stated the extremely high price she quoted was incorrect and I owed another eighty dollars! I never paid it and will never return. I returned to my previous eye doctor this year and paid less for my new glasses which I like much more. Incidentally....I had no insurance this year and the glasses I bought cost me less than the glasses I bought at Cheyenne Eye Clinic with insurance. When I visited this place was a total rip-off with poor patient care. I would never recommend it to anyone. read more

went to Cheyenne Eye Clinic starting early in 2017. I made 3 visits before leaving to find another clinic. I waited for 3.5 hours on my first visit. I waited 2 hours on my second visit. I left during the third visit without being treated. The staff told me that the visits had been pre approved by my insurance. i specifically asked this question and was lied to as the treatment was not pre approved. When insurance was filed they made an error causing the charges to be denied - they did get this fixed to some extent. After insurance was paid and a 750 dollar payment was made i still have a balance of 2600 dollars. I have excellent insurance that normally pays 80%. The bills that the Eye Clinic sends are terribly convoluted and almost impossible to interpret. I sat down with the person in charge of billing and she could not figure things out - as a matter of fact they ended up charging an additional 2049 as a result of our discussion. I am not sure if this facility is scamming the insurance companies or the patients or both but BUYER BEWARE. It is worth the extra time to drive to Fort Collins for treatment.
