We heard good things. Unfortunately they are "Delivery only" and we were looking for a sit down meal.

Almost…read more The restaurant is tucked away from the main tourist strip, and walking in feels like discovering a hidden garden. At night, it really comes alive. Lanterns hang from the trees casting a warm amber glow, everything feels soft and intimate, and a live band playing low-key jazz ties it all together. It's cozy, a little romantic, and honestly one of the better dining atmospheres on the island. Hard to say how it translates during the day, but at night, it works. The Food The food holds its own, even if the setting gets most of the attention. By Cozumel standards, it's some of the better food we had on the island. The menu leans creative but still approachable. We tried a bit of everything. The Mexican dumplings were fine. Not bad, not memorable. The trio of guacamoles was a hit, especially the one with fruit and bacon, which sounds questionable but works really well. The queso was exactly what you expect. Good, comforting, not trying to reinvent anything. The standout surprise was the tortillas. Freshly made and easily one of the best parts of the meal. They elevated everything they touched. The meat tacos were also very solid, well-seasoned and satisfying. Dessert was the house specialty, a cornbread-based dish with ice cream and toppings. Don't remember the name, but I remember finishing it, which says enough. Service Service was good across the board. Friendly, efficient, nothing over the top but nothing missing either. Overall Kondesa is worth visiting for the atmosphere alone, but the food makes sure it's not just a pretty place. Come for dinner, take your time, and enjoy the setting. It's one of those meals where the environment does half the work and the food handles the rest.

With beautiful trees growing through the floor to the ceiling, the gorgeous lights that twinkle and bring romance to the space, it is all perfect. The staff! Wow! We never felt rushed but always were attended to. The food came with the perfect attention to detail and timing. At no point did I feel rushed or a burden to anyone. What an amazing feeling. Now the food! I am from a very prominent Italian food area and I was very impressed with that selections. The lasagna was stunning, the carbonara needed nothing and gave you that sweet hug from the inside you dream of. I got the ravioli with butternut squash and ricotta. I was stunned. It has been over a week since I had it and I still dream about it at night. What a hidden gem!

We arrived late afternoon and we were pleasantly greeted and quickly seated. A nice solid menu of Italian/Mediterranean treats plus monthly specials posted on the exterior board. Full bar service, and plenty of Spanish wines offered. Prices are very reasonable and repeat that the service is excellent. In business approaching 30 years, this was our first visit and found it through a shout out on Yelp! The business is an American owned venture but very much offerings and atmosphere of a casual Mexican dinner. Some really interesting photographs throughout the restaurant that offer some insights into the island's history, the owners friends, and even her cats! We started with some wonderful empanadas and an octopus dish that was probably one of the best cooked I've had in memory. Great seafood options and daily fish specials. Like most of Central Cozumel, street parking can be a little tricky but not a showstopper. You may be interested in looking for a yard that offers car parking to get off the streets. We definitely will be back and highly recommend you check out this restaurant when in the area

I'll give a more detailed portion of that below. I had the steak fajitas and we had the lime chicken soup and the Mexican plate. The Mexican plate had a torta, chili relleno, tamale, quesadilla, green chicken enchilada, and a small portion of fajitas. Everything was delicious and well cooked. The gardens are gorgeous and I could easily see a wedding being held there. Wheelchair accessibility: you can tell hat they've put thought and effort into making this restaurant wheelchair accessible. There was an accessible entrance, and each of the restaurant entrances and had small ramps that were put in place, a little steep but nothing un- navigable. The aisles were open and roomy, and there were paved paths through the garden also accessible by wheelchair. The one hiccup is that the bathrooms have two small steps to get into them with no handrail.

We had the most…read morespectacular evening here -- an absolute standout dining experience that exceeded every expectation. The atmosphere immediately sets the tone: stunning, romantic, and effortlessly elegant. The kind of place that makes a night feel truly special from the moment you walk in. For dinner, I ordered the Black Rice with Octopus -- and I cannot say enough about it. The octopus was cooked to absolute perfection, tender and flavorful, and the presentation was nothing short of stunning. Every single bite was a delight. My husband went with the Surf and Turf -- lobster and filet mignon accompanied by the most incredible bacon mashed potatoes -- and he was completely blown away. Both the lobster and the filet were cooked exactly as ordered, beautifully plated, and bursting with flavor. We kept looking at each other across the table saying "this is unreal." But what truly elevated the evening was the service. Impeccable from start to finish -- attentive, warm, professional, and genuinely gracious without ever being intrusive. Our server made us feel like we were the only table in the restaurant. Azul Madera, you have earned every one of these five stars and then some. We will absolutely be back on our next visit to Cozumel. Highest possible recommendation!

Disappointing :( I wanted so much to love this restaurant!…read more Sadly, I was disappointed - after so many spectacular reviews here, and a recommendation from my dentist who loves restaurants. Here's why: The Good: Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp was delicious, good portion size and pasta cooked perfectly with a rich and creamy sauce (expected for fettuccine Alfredo) and tender, large shrimp. My guest was my boyfriend who was having a birthday and the reason for our visit. He had the mahi-mahi "salt" dish and he said it was good, but it didn't knock his socks off. The price was not bad considering the atmosphere and lovely decor. Hostess was welcoming and gracious. The restaurant itself is beautiful, unique, and relaxing. Not so good: Our server was not very attentive, nor sincere in his enthusiasm and didn't check on us very often, nor did he smile. The service was actually the low point of the night. He described the dishes, but not with much detail and despite comping a birthday cheesecake for my boyfriend, he wasn't very warm or enthusiastic with his "happy birthday" wish barely audible. He brought a refill on a lemonade without it being requested, but then he charged us for the refill. Not cool. Overall, a bill of $60, with no appetizer and no alcohol for "decent" food did not live up to the great reviews or hype of this Restaurant. I don't think we will be back.

The restaurant is open-air, the kind of place where fans work overtime and the heat is part of the atmosphere. If you're here for polished white-tablecloth perfection, you're missing the point. This is the kind of place where the food matters, and the people making it matter even more. We started with a margarita -- simple, clean, lime-driven, the way it should be. Then a surprise: a Mexican Chardonnay that was more than just a curiosity. It was bright, elegant, and held its own against what was about to come. The tuna tataki arrived like a quiet promise -- fresh, barely kissed by flame, layered with tomatoes and herbs that tasted like they'd been picked that morning. Then came the pasta. Not just pasta -- house-made, hand-cut strands with that chew you can only get when someone's sweating in the back rolling it out. One plate loaded with clams, briny and delicate, another brimming with mussels, shrimp, tomatoes -- a proper frutti di mare. This was Italian soul filtered through the Caribbean, kissed with garlic and oil, but unmistakably crafted with care. And then dessert. A cacao chocolate cake so rich, so unapologetically decadent, it silenced the table for a moment. This is the kind of cake you remember -- layered, moist, dark, a reminder that pastry is art when it's done right. But food is only part of the story. Joel, our waiter, was the other. A young man brimming with passion, the kind of person who doesn't just serve you but lets you glimpse the beating heart of the restaurant. His pride, his storytelling, his quiet attentiveness -- it elevated the night from a meal to an experience. Would I go back? In a heartbeat. Not because it's fancy, not because it's perfect, but because it's real. Real food, real people, real sweat. And in the end, that's what matters.
