Disappointing :( I wanted so much to love this restaurant! Sadly, I was disappointed - after so many spectacular reviews here, and a recommendation from my dentist who loves restaurants. Here's why: The Good: Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp was delicious, good portion size and pasta cooked perfectly with a rich and creamy sauce (expected for fettuccine Alfredo) and tender, large shrimp. My guest was my boyfriend who was having a birthday and the reason for our visit. He had the mahi-mahi "salt" dish and he said it was good, but it didn't knock his socks off. The price was not bad considering the atmosphere and lovely decor. Hostess was welcoming and gracious. The restaurant itself is beautiful, unique, and relaxing. Not so good: Our server was not very attentive, nor sincere in his enthusiasm and didn't check on us very often, nor did he smile. The service was actually the low point of the night. He described the dishes, but not with much detail and despite comping a birthday cheesecake for my boyfriend, he wasn't very warm or enthusiastic with his "happy birthday" wish barely audible. He brought a refill on a lemonade without it being requested, but then he charged us for the refill. Not cool. Overall, a bill of $60, with no appetizer and no alcohol for "decent" food did not live up to the great reviews or hype of this Restaurant. I don't think we will be back. read more

Came back here after 9 months, still great restaurant! Not many guest due to low season. While we were here, only 2 table of guest. I hope the restaurants in Cozumel could go through the low season! I actually found this place on Yelp! Beautiful restaurant, semi close to downtown. Loved the trees in the center of dining areas. The food was great. It's been about five years since we've been to this restaurant and it's still as wonderful as we remember it to be! An elevated dining experience in Cozumel for the discerning foodie. Yes, it cost a bit more, but it is truly special occasion restaurant. Absolutely outstanding service. Cannot say enough about how great the team here was and making sure that we were well tended.Our server took the time to explain many of the specialty items that we had questions about, and we were not disappointed with our choices. The salt and crusted fish dish is always a winner! The beef pichania tacos were a wonderful starter and were super tender. The House specialty cocktails were perfect. Very laid-back and classy ambience with air-conditioning, which can really make the difference on a hot summer day here. Can't say enough about this restaurant. For folks that are driving there is private parking directly across the street that is available for only a few dollars and someone will keep an eye on your car well you dine. Definitely definitely definitely overpriced for what it is. The menu was a bit all over the place, but we did enjoy a couple appetizers here. We had the cheese croquettes which were nice and creamy, but we're definitely under salted and missing a sauce or something. The grilled octopus (from the specials menu) was cooked perfectly, but was also missing a bit of citrus... nothing a squeeze of lime and a dash of salt couldn't fix. Azul Madera was the highlight of an amazing trip, the best food I had in Cozumel. Jorge, our waiter, was excellent. The vibe of the place is like the wonder child of a high end restaurant and a Spanish Villa, as we dined in an enclosed courtyard. We got three Mezcal based drinks (the mojito, a special, and one other that escapes me) which were delicious, keep an eye on their specials. The food was incredible. I absolutely have to recommend the Grilled Octopus and the Fish Carpaccio. The rest of the meal, which consisted of scallops tostada (a special), goat cheese pizza, and slow cooked pork belly was delicious and I'd get each again. We also had a desert form their specials, a limoncello tiramisu with pistachio, that blew me away. I can't wait to come back. read more

This is easily my favorite restaurant in Cozumel. Built in a wonderful old home that has been converted, the rooms flow perfectly together but allow plenty of privacy for groups of 2-8. We came here twice in the same week with our group of adults bc we couldn't get enough. The staff is soooo kind and knowledgeable, and the food itself is of another category entirely - so perfect, tasteful, fresh. Another couple recommended this place to us, and we were a little unsure on the cab ride there (our route took us through some graffiti-laden streets), but it's so beautiful once you step inside. Any time I see octopus on a menu, I have to try it. This offering was quite possibly the top of the list. The tamarind glaze served alongside the perfectly tender grilled octopus was FABULOUS. My husband ordered the lobster 4-cheese pizza, which was delicious and included blue cheese, which is a unique combo that we had never tried with lobster before. I had the salt-crusted red snapper. I can't remember what sides I ordered because the fish was so tender and moist I never touched them! The service was also impeccable. Good recommendations and always timely, though we never felt pushed or rushed at all. We are only in Cozumel for two more days and already have a reservation to go back tomorrow. read more

I had high hopes for this place, when so many new places are opening and this one receiving rave reviews. Service was excellent. Atmosphere very nice, though if you sit at the tables near the bar with the big sliding windows to the patio, you will get whiffs of people smoking on the patio every time the waiters or people go in and out. The owner came over to our table and introduced himself told us it was a Seafood sushi night, all fresh etc. As we ordered drinks as we perused the menu. We decided to take the owners suggestion and ordered the Tuna tartare, Tuna sushi and the Tuna usuzukuri, Red Curry Mussels, Pork Spare Rib with Mellow Rice and Noodles with Ajiaco Shrimp. To our disappointment the owner then came back to tell us they are out of Tuna (which should of been told to us upfront if that was the case). So back to the menu to then order the Steak Tartare and Angus Beef Tataki. The beef and pork dishes were OK. The Mussels were good, the noodle dish with shrimp, very OK the shrimp were overdone, nothing special at all. The only saving grace was the wonderful Soft Cookie with Nutella and Ice Cream dessert. The restaurant used to be a house and they spent a lot of money converting it into a beautiful restaurant with lots of trees and outdoor spaces. The service and food is fantastic.
