    Their story.

What an amazing hidden gem! We found K'ooben Laab after a local recommended it, and it turned out to be one of the best dining experiences we've had in Cozumel. This charming little Italian restaurant has everything -- incredible food, personal service, and a warm, relaxed atmosphere. We started with cocktails -- a Mezcal Mule and a classic Old Fashioned -- both perfectly balanced and delicious. For appetizers, the Tuna Tataki was savory and flavorful, setting the tone for the rest of the meal. The seasonal risotto was the standout dish: the squid was unbelievably tender and full of flavor, and the pineapple added a wonderful touch of brightness. The carbonara was another highlight, rich and satisfying with perfectly crispy guanciale. K'ooben Laab truly exceeded our expectations in every way. We'll definitely be coming back every time we're in Cozumel!

K'ooben Laab is a true gem! The menu has a lot of different options that have fresh ingredients and seem healthier without losing flavor. They have rotating specials that are a must try as well! We had: "Red hat" December cocktail special 10/10 Focaccia w/pumpkin spread 12/10 SO GOOD!!!! Truffle orange ravioli December special 8/10 Vegetable tagliatelle 8/10 pasta was delicious, but I wished I got something with more sauce Lasagna 10/10 Mezcal mule 10/10 Medium spinach salad w/honey mustard dressing 11/10 the dressing was a real standout! White chenin blanc wine 6/10 Staff was great! So friendly and attentive. The space is smaller with only a handful of tables, so call/message beforehand to make a RSVP. I wish we discovered this place earlier so we could have gone multiple times!

This rooftop restaurant is a little further out of town than most restaurants, but well worth the walk/cab ride! The place itself is cute, with circular skylights all over, and driftwood pendants. The service was great, and the food delicious. We were brought a small basket of bread with a walnut based dip. Both types of bread were great, although I preferred the one with tomato. The walnut dip was tasty and unusual...something I'd expect more of Georgian fare than Italian. To start we ordered the meat and cheese platter. It came with 4 cheeses, 4 meats, and some fruit, along with a tapenade and an orange jam. Every combo of meat/cheese/fruit was fantastic. Highly recommend this to start! Hubby and I then shared the carbonara and the ravioli special. The carbonara was creamy and delicious. The ravioli special was filled with a beetroot/mushroom puree and topped with an orangey sauce and mushrooms. This sounds like such an odd combo, but it worked so well. We finished the meal off with their chocolate cake which had 2 tiny orangey meringues. Nice way to end the meal. Expect mainly pastas from their menu, but they make them oh-so-well!!

Excellent offerings on their menu from breakfast to lunch/dinner. We have been multiple times this trip (and in the past) and love it. The focaccia bread is amazing. How are they making it so well on an island off of Mexico!? The hospitality of the staff is also top notch and knowledgeable of the menu and are super friendly, offering their advice, when requested (in Spanish or English). The open air dining room is on the second level and we lucked out during an early breakfast to get the room to ourselves. It's busy in the evenings and they also offer takeout, if on the go. The dishes are all flavorful and beautifully presented. We look forward to coming here each time we visit Cozumel.

Tiramisu and choc cake . Both were Delish!

Very small restaurant with only about 10 tables and I always make a reservation just in case I got shrimp and pasta and my husband got lasagna. We had two desserts, tiramisu and a special which was a banana peanut butter cake. Both were delicious. Service was great and prices were decent

Food is great. Craft beer only and wine. I would like to see some domestic beers available. The food makes up for this shortcoming though. Service for this visit was slow. The food also makes up for this.

    Best cake ever!

Now the food! I am from a very prominent Italian food area and I was very impressed with that selections. The lasagna was stunning, the carbonara needed nothing and gave you that sweet hug from the inside you dream of. I got the ravioli with butternut squash and ricotta. I was stunned. The shop is located in a neighborhood and not a tourist area in a small storefront. Nancy led our experience and gave us an interesting talk on chocolate and its history. It was really interesting. We then actually ground some "nibs" and made our own chocolate for hot chocolate. It was a lit of fun and we ended up taking our little medallion of chocolate home with us to try on some winter evening. Nancy also gave us samples of different types of flavored chocolate. They were just small pieces but by the time we were finished I think we had about 20 different chocolates. The tour is inexpensive and a lot of fun. As an added comment, we were on a cruise and the cab fare was about the same as a ride into the tourist area. This is not in a tourist area so you'll see where people actually live. Nancy will call a cab for you for the trip back to the ship or to the tourist area. Again, this was a lot of fun.

I had a lot of questions and the nice staff was able to answer all of them. She also knew all the ingredients in them and helped me choose what was best for me. I ended up getting some dark chocolate, milk chocolate, coffee espresso beans, and some other goodies. The shop was really cute and they had all things chocolate and more. They even had toys and souvenirs. But their star are their chocolates which are high-quality and made from the finest ingredients. They even had interesting chocolate flavor combinations. The shop should also be clean, well-maintained, and air conditioned. Pricing was also reasonable. I highly recommend if you are in Cozumel and want to stop in a good chocolate shop.
