I've dealt with cystic pimples and rosacea since I was a teen, and Ann Marie has truly been the only professional who has taken the time to understand my super sensitive, acne prone skin. Anne Marie is a magician. After my wedding make up trial, I felt so insecure about my skin- the make up really accentuated the texture and dehydration and I knew I needed to take immediate action. Ann Marie is AMAZING! I waited a few months before posting a review of her. I have had problem skin since I was a teenager, you would think after reaching my 50s, acne and pimples would be a thing of the past -- not so. A few months ago, after experiencing a more severe than usual breakout, I scoured Yelp to find an aesthetician in my area and found Ann Marie. She went work on my skin recommending peels, facials and products. I was more than skeptical, wondering whether she just trying to sell me stuff... I took a deep breathe and embraced it all -- going for regular facials, skin peels (who knew dark-skinned gals needed peels?) and using the products, that she recommended, with a fervor. For the first time in about 15 years, my acne has been cleared and I owe it to Ann Marie at Chez Aesthete. I started with a facial, but the real deep change happened through a series of facial peels and LED light therapy. She adjusts every appointment based on what kind of peel treatment that my skin needs and then we finish with an LED light therapy session. It was my first visit to Anne Marie and will continue to visit her for my monthly facials. She mentioned she has had some of her clients for 10 plus years, and I totally understand. I'm not sure what products she uses (I know they are clinical grade), but whatever it is, it makes your skin glow, radiant, and pores tighten up. I usually wear some make-up to cover blemishes, however, it takes the luster out of the natural glow of my skin. After her facial, I've only worn tinted moisturizer, and am so pleased with the tightness, cleanliness, and glow of my skin. She knows her stuff, and totally recommend going to her. On top of the facial itself, her place is comfortable, relaxing and clean. It's quite the treat to go there. It has been two years since I started seeing Anne Marie. My skin (pretty good to begin with) has improved its appearance since getting a regular 4-6 week facial. I am much more confident in how my face looks, and I am always so glad to spend the time (rather relaxing) and money in order to put forth my best, most confident, freshest face to the world. She hasn't stopped telling me what she's doing before she does it, but I now have no qualms about having someone (her only!!!) touch my face. She is both professional and wise in matters of the world, which I appreciate. But let's talk about her actual services! The facials are awesome. They are just what I need to maintain a good complexion. If my skin doesn't look all that great, well, it's because I'm not eating well or sleeping enough or am too stressed. Her facials revitalize and en-healthen my face (yes, I just made that word up!) I've never felt uncomfortable or awkward about anything with Anne Marie. I tried to have her wax my underarms once, and it was too painful for me to bear, but it was entirely ok when I told her "Aaah, I can't take this!!!" No problem, there was no awkwardness there. Also, as she assesses your skin and does her thing, she'll let you know if you might peel (it happens) or if you let her know that a product didn't work (caused an adverse reaction) she handles it very professionally, without any awkward feeling generated. She really takes care of you and "diagnoses" your skin, tailoring your treatment and product suggestions each time you see her to where your skin is at and the season.. She is incredibly well versed in the science of skin (aging, acne, general health) and really passionate about appropriate care for the skin. She is always in search of the product line that is responsive (i.e. can provide product timely), has products that meets her clients budget and skin needs (often carrying several lines for specific needs of clients) but, of course, results in the best outcomes. I've been getting treatments from Anne Marie for about 3 years now and I have to say, I haven't found a more satisfying experience even when I've been gifted facials or been out of town and visited other spas. I first called because of a skin issue that I needed advice on, I wasn't sure if an aesthetician or a dermatologist was the solution and Anne Marie suggested I come in for a consultation. She gave me an overview of the skin stages and what was happening to me at that current time. It was certainly treatable with the services she offered so I decided to make an appointment (after speaking with a half dozen other aestheticians, I felt most comfortable with Anne Marie's experience and her "take" on what I needed specifically for noticeable results). When I came home my husband said I was "glowing" and wanted to know if I had gotten a new haircut--found that highly amusing! She has been treating my skin conditions with utmost care and professionalism and really 'GETS' under your skin to extract, smooth, and beautify you. I always leave feeling youthful and anew even if she raked my skin (this is a good thing mind you). I have had very difficult skin since I was a teenager and with acne still lingering and rosacea worsening in my early 50s, I finally took my hair cutter's advice and made an appointment with Ann Marie about two years ago.
