My first experience with waxing. It's a little intimidating, but from the moment I stepped in they put me at ease. This is a clean, sharp place in a shopping center. Not ideal for a wax session, but it really works. As a first time customer I was offered 50% off. My "waxer" could sense that I was a bit tense and offered me a stress ball. Once again, it worked. She would place the wax strip on my body, rip, then press...it really wasn't that bad! She recommended a gel product to prevent ingrown hair, and it worked. The treatment was followed up with a personal phone call the next day to see how I was and if I had questions. Then I received a card in the mail thanking me for using their services and a 10% off of my next waxing. Overall this was an excellent experience for a "newby " to waxing. If you have been searching Yelp, Google, or the Yellow Pages I can wholehearted recommend this European waxing place. read more

Came here to get a Brazilian after a couple of years' break. I knew it would be painful and a little awkward. I'm used to being given a minute or two to undress and get on the table, but my waxer just turned around and said "go ahead -- get undressed." I was a little nervous but was pleasantly surprised by how fast it felt; I'm used to these waxes taking around 20-25 but was up in 15. She told me that she had left "a few" hairs behind but that because it had been so long, that was inevitable, and to keep coming back to make it better each time. I tipped well and left shocked at how painful it was but happy it went quickly. When I got home and looked for myself I realized she'd left hair pretty much everywhere, not just a few little ones like I expected. Even the butt strip (sorry) had leftover hair, and that's a famously easy part to wax. I get a few hairs, but this was patches all over each area in a way that I've never experienced with any other wax, not even my first. I think that the skin was not pulled taut and that a bunch of hair broke as a result. The worst part was the leftover wax that was left all over. It stuck to my undergarments and body. Because so much hair was left behind I had to use a bunch of baby oil to get all the wax out of it. I cancelled my next appointment and will be going somewhere else. read more

Overall rating would be 3.50. The main reason for my rating is that I really enjoyed my waxer who I believe was named Whitney. She was very friendly, knew what she was doing and did a great job. I got a Brazilian which was $75 and I was notified that the price will be raising to $90 later in the year. Drawback is that the place could be cleaner. It feels rushed because they book appointments every 15 minutes which is pretty much back to back. The front-desk team was polite and the esthetician was professional, communicative, and reasonably skilled -- the waxing itself was done competently and the staff tried to put me at ease. Those positives made the visit promising. That said, I'm giving two stars because the location clearly needs better cleaning and attention to basic hygiene. The restroom is in disrepair and always needs scrubbing. The floors always feel and appear dirty. Cleanliness is a non-negotiable for personal-care services, and those issues overshadowed the otherwise professional service. If the center improves its cleaning routines and visible sanitation practices. I'd be willing to give them another try -- the staff and technique are good. Same day I scheduled online, got a call canceling my appointment due to their technician "calling in sick", most likely their FDA (Front Desk Attendant didn't know how to do their job or this company just has a terrible way of canceling openings when their techs call out and is super delayed. When someone schedules and appointment, and you only have a 9 min window for canceling a rescheduled appointment, maybe make an exception when the person is on their way and was only 10mins past the rescheduled earlier appointment. This seriously ruined my day trying to make it all the way to Lake Oswego from Canby to take the only appointment they had to reconcile there terribly delayed system or terrible FDA. Make your website not take appointments you can't rebook same day, if your tech calls out. And retrain your FDA to not offer an hour earlier appointment when the person is only offered 9min grace period in today's traffic especially when they are going to make a long trip like I did. It is infuriating to be 10mins late on a rebook and not be seen when they are still open for another hour. Either way bad business. Need retraining and revamping of scheduling practices. If my appointment was originally at 1715 (515PM) and you close at 1730 (530) then I am confused at how being 10min late to an hour earlier (1615) appointment would make a difference. I've given this location multiple opportunities. I was referred to here by a friend because unfortunately, the location in Gresham flooded. The first time I got wax there I was told that the lady who was waxing me was a senior aesthetician. She almost ripped off my vagina. She was not pulling my skin down tight enough which only irritated my skin but caused a lot of breakage. I complained to the manager, I was asked to go in for a touch up. I went for a touchup, the aesthetician who waxed me then left a lot of hair behind as well. Yup she just tugged my skin and did nothing pretty much. I waited the four weeks for my next session which was 10/23/22 at 11am. Well today I drive 45 minutes to the location to find that they are closed. No one called me in advance to tell me that they were closed. They had all morning to do this, which why I'm super irritated. The manager just called me and left me a voicemail after I called the Clackamas location and explained how wrong I was done at the Lake Oswego location. thank god they had an appt today. In her voicemail she said thank you for being understanding, she said that the only girl who was waxing was exposed to Covid, and was waiting for results. Excuse me, understanding of what? You had all morning to call me and let me know that my appointment needed to be canceled due to short staff for the Covid exposure. Whatever the case was, it takes 2 seconds to dial the phone and call me. I am very understanding person but communication is crucial. my time is valuable. I'm a very busy person. Worst bikini wax experience I've ever had. Overly painful and I was burned on one side from the wax! I was in pain for 3 days in the entire area, which is NOT normal (nor is a wax burn). Also, the wax specialist that did mine (can't remember her name unfortunately), did a terrible job and didn't even get all the hair on my bikini line. Not gentle at all. Also the appointment was only 15 minutes and felt super rushed. I will never go here again. I've been waxing with EWC since I was in HS. I've been to ones in multiple states. And I think I have finally found my favorite location (sorry Rainbow in LV). What makes a center great is their politeness in helping you find a reservation that fits your schedule. Flexibility in changing times if needed and forgiveness if you accidentally missed one. They have great promotions and products that help you save. I was super impressed with their Pink Tax campaign which convinced me to get the exfoliator product. My wax specialist Tess was great. Quick and painless. She listened when I said the wax was warm and made she she did good clean up strips. I couldn't be more happier that I found a wax specialist that's amazing at making you feel comfortable. The conversation was easy and I'm overall impressed with the quality of the wax and how great my smooth legs feel. Go request her! *edit. I did edit this review for Tess she's amazing and I am happy to find a new wax specialist that will stay with the company and do a great job. So much that I won't want to see another person and I'll move my appt around for her. I recently had a wax at this location but I've been to several other locations and had a different aesthetician every single time. I keep thinking THIS TIME they'll be so great that I'll book the next one with the same person, but nah, it has never happened that way. What I love: Easy to book online, published pricing, and they use the hard wax (not the gooey wax with cloth strips). Plus, they're everywhere, which is handy. The aestheticians are really nice and I've always enjoyed the brief random chats with them while they have the unfortunate task of staring into the abyss while I react A LOT to the wax going on and COMING OFF oh my god. What I don't love: the super rushed appointments, the disregard for thoroughness, the required add-ons to complete an area, and the method of waxing that breaks the hairs instead of removing the follicle. Oh! And your printed receipt shows your full name and the body parts waxed, so don't drop that in the wrong place if you don't want people knowing which of your hidden bits are partially waxed. First, the appointments are quick. Really quick. If you don't have much time, or want to get it over with, this is the place. It's not cheap, it's not good, but it is quick. Which leads to a very fuzzy post-wax experience. My advice is to pay for the standard wax (ie Brazilian) but don't let them upsell you on upper thigh/leg, butt, abdomen, and the other adders they want to sell you that would be included in a standard Brazilian at non EWC locations. BUY YOUR OWN WAX HEATER for like $20, the hard wax beads from Sally, and some popsicle sticks. (plus a good hand mirror, baby powder, aloe gel, wine, and get ready to twist and contort - it's like yoga! Hot wax yoga!) Then, after your partial wax at EWC, wait a day and finish the job at home. Since most of the hair is gone, you won't suffer as much when you try to get all those hairs they left behind. On your behind. I have never left EWC with smooth skin. I've gone back for a rewax once, when they left obvious fuzzy islands in a sea of partially waxed business. I went to EWC on a Sunday to get the bulk of the fuzz off. Rewaxed myself on Tuesday for a Thursday departure to bikini weather. By Friday, the broken hairs were growing back. Everyone loves a hairy butt in a thong bikini. I have also trusted them once with my eyebrows and upper lip. They do not do it as well as most of the nail ladies who wax your face on a folding chair in the breakroom/lunchroom/restroom of the nail shop. Again, the aestheticians are lovely and they all wax the same way, which suggests that this is THE WAY they are trained. I've been to maybe 5 or 6 locations and at least a dozen appointments, so this has nothing to do with the specific location or aesthetician. This is how the business operates. read more

So we have an broken app a QR message yet you can't tell me whether your running late or your tech is broken. Try learning how to budget time correctly. Big fail from me. I recently had a bad brow wax which prompted me to go to a real salon, not the nail place down the street. Once my brows were almost grown out I did some research and found European Wax Center. The first time I came in I just walked in. The salon is really bright and clean. I was quickly whisked away by McKenzie, after I was informed that my first wax is free. I explained what was going on with my brows, and she fixed them up to allow the rest of my brows to grow out properly while still looking good, which they did. A few weeks later I made a same day appointment and Sidney was was also lovely to work with. My brows are totally perfect now and EWC has shown me why having an expert is worth the drive from Newberg and the cost. In fact yesterday I was having brunch with my best friend and she commented that my brows look amazing. My answer? I know. :) read more

Quick appointment and good experience given how terrified I was this first time. Not sure how other waxing centers are, but I didn't find the waxing to be as thorough as I had hoped. They spend a lot of time pushing their products on you. ***UPDATE: lost a star because Jackie's "lack of education" comment feels suspiciously condescending. Of course I realize that my first time will not be as nice, but that's what tweezers are for! I have tons of stray hairs, 2 days later my skin is still sensitive and red, and today I developed a huge pimple. I've never had such a shit waxing job in my life. Very unprofessional, passive aggressive, and money hungry. I called the day of to confirm the details of my waxing appointment and price I booked online. Before even starting the service, the waxer informed me the price would be 4.5x than the price I was quoted. When I said I wasn't willing to pay that she then tried to negotiate to a lesser service still costing me 3x the amount quoted online. I didn't appreciate being hassled and I felt targeted as they tried to negotiate with me.( I am a woman of color and I hope it didn't have anything to do with that.) I didn't ask for anything extra upon arrival, and it turns out change in price was due to their error. They told me the front desk employee who confirmed the service was misinformed and wrongfully quoted me the price of the wax. Instead of "that's our mistake. She shouldn't have told u [x price]. Usually it's [x amount], but for today We can charge you [x amount], since she confirmed and that was totally our mistake" they told me to pay 3x of the original amount or get out. I stayed kind and respectful the entire time and requested to speak with a manager, who was not on site. The front desk gal became very dismissive, annoyed and passive aggressive at that request. A week later I got a phone call from the manager, Colette. She didn't apologize or ask to correct the issue, she called me just to defend her employees explaining that I (the customer) need to understand mistakes happen and that's just how it works. I was shocked at the way she talked to me as it was extremely unprofessional. Collette is obviously very unhappy and her passive aggressive "better than thou" demeanor reflects that. I wish I liked this place because it's close to my house and it's convenient but I never love my brows when I leave. Plus whatever they put on my skin after I get waxed makes me break out. The girl that did my eye brows was really sweet and friendly. At first I was pleased with my eye brows. I want to thank you so much for not destroying them. When I left they had any awesome sample packet to give me. I was really excited because it had there lotions in there and I tried a little drop of there lotion and it smells AMAZING. I will be buying a big bottle next time. Also the point system they have it pretty cool to. O and it's close to home. So the next day when I was getting ready I noticed, my niece noticed and my daughter n law noticed a lot of things I had to fix on my eye brows. There was a lot of hairs I had to pluck to get a better shape and I had to trim my eye brows because they were long. I now i got to look at them before they colored them in but i was laying down with light in my eyes and didnt really get to inspect them the right way. They did color them in so when I was in the car I really didn't noticed the missed spots and the trim. Now I'm not so sure if I want to go back. I know first time is free but 21 for an eyebrow wax seems pretty steep to not have them done the right way. Also I did show a picture of what I wanted. When I called to make an appointment, I asked for their most experienced person since my last appointment the tech had missed a bunch of spots. When I got on the table, the tech told me she started one month ago. I have been waxing for years and never have had one issue. I'm leaving on a trip and this is the first time I've broke out in terrible rashes and red bumps everywhere. I'm mortified since i will be in a bikini on this trip. I won't even be able to wear a bathing suit with how bad my rashes are. I have loved this company for years, but this experience made me never want to wax again. The 5 star rating is for the front desk girls and my favorite, Sierra. For the front desk ladies, they are wonderful and pleasant to chat with while waiting for my appointment and just in general, have fabulous customer service. If you read my past reviews, you know I'm all about customer service. But here, it doesn't feel like it's forced which can be spotted a mile a way. Being a bigger girl, I get super self conscious about my body but Sierra has not once made me feel uncomfortable. After going through several of the girls, a lot of which are no longer at this location, she's the only one I'll see. She was out ill recently and I rescheduled for the next appointment she had that I could get to. We chit chat the entire session and I just love how down to earth she is. Not a fan of the sales pitches by the ladies at the front counter, but I understand it's required of them. When I said "no thank you", they backed off immediately. Sydney is AMAZING. She did my brazilian and full leg and I only winced twice from the pain. She was very thorough, tweezing when necessary and asked me to check to see if she had missed anything. Sydney was really enjoyable to talk to - chatty enough (not in an annoying way!) and kept me distracted from the waxing. Loved her! Will definitely return for an appointment with her. They use a hard wax that peels off without strips. I went in for the introductory week so all waxing was free, but their prices are great as well - $42 for a brazilian is cheap! read more

I've had Brazilians before, and had let it grow out this year. So, I thought I'd try this place as it's nearer my house than the place I used to go to. I was prepared for it to hurt, I was prepared for it to not be fun, lol! The staff were all very nice at check-in. Friendly and welcoming and warm. I felt very hopeful. The room was clinical and cold and harsh. I felt like I was a dog in a vet's office. I felt less hopeful. The girl who did my wax was clearly inexperienced. She asked for what I wanted, but then didn't listen and left me with a tuft of hair that looks like a soul patch. I'll be growing that out. But that I could deal with - she also did the whole thing in about 4-5 wax passes. Which means, she slathered wax on and ripped an enormous amount at a time. She didn't tension the skin. She, essentially, covered her eyes with one hand and ripped with the other, then looked back apologetically and said "I'm sorry..." the whole time. At least it was fast... ugh. But, ye gods - I almost cried it hurt so much. Again, I've gotten a Brazilian before and I was prepared for it to hurt, but my first waxer (at Urban Waxx (happy to give them a plug,) was professional and kind and took good care of me. This made me feel like a sheep getting shorn with not much care for the integrity of my skin. When she was (almost,) done she asked if I wanted my "butt strip" waxed. Um.... 'Butt strip' - is that ever necessary to say? And, isn't that part of the point of a Brazilian? Don't we call it a Brazilian so we don't have to say things like "butt strip"? I'll never go back. It pains me to say the experience was not good. The environment was completely sterile and I felt like just another number being called up. When I got back to the room, it was even more sterile. My doctors office has more warmth to it. The lady was completely impersonal and seemed rushed. She checked her beeper in the middle of my bikini wax and let me know her next appointment arrived. I've seen four different waxers on Groupon since going to European Wax Center - they are STILL the best wax that gets all the hairs. I think it is their wax specially formulated for them. I can't say as I will do another Groupon - time to go back to European! Just wish they weren't as expensive as they are. I recently stopped by to purchase a gift card for a Christmas gift. The girl working the front desk was rude and had no idea what she was doing. She told me she has to make the purchase under an account so she would need the phone number of the person who I am purchasing the card for. She assured me that she would not send an email or notify the person of the gift until Christmas, telling me there is a way to hold the notifications. Long story short, today my daughter received an email that there was 100.00 added to her account, but no details of it being a gift or who it was from. Ruined that Christmas gift. I sent a message to the store and had a call from Collette, she did not offer to do anything other than train her employees. Seems like that should of been done already. Emailing my daughter telling her sorry for sending your gift early and not including any of the details we were suppose to send you on Christmas would of been nice.
