We stopped by here for breakfast today and really enjoyed it! I had the Quebec Combo, my wife went with the Montreal Smoked Meat Poutine, and our cousin had the Duck Confit Poutine. Peach Mango Smoothie - 10/10, little pricey but isn't everything. Food came faster than I expected which was a pleasant surprise! I had the Mountaineer - 10/10. Potatoes were for sure my favorite, sausage was not but boyfriend liked them. Boyfriend got the Montreal Smoked Meat Bene Poutine. 9/10. Smoked meat was 10/10 but boyfriend found it all got too soggy for his liking as it has both hollandaise and gravy. Gravy was a little bland for my liking. Pretty good and affordable breakfast/brunch place in Canmore. I've eaten here several times and have quite enjoyed it. Until I hear of other nice breakfast spots in Canmore, I will continue to come here. They can get pretty packed so make sure to time your arrival right! Every time I've gone here the staff have always been so awesome. They have seating on both sides of the restaurant and a nice outdoor patio for the summer. I've had their crepes, eggs benny, breakfast plate, waffles and it's all been delicious! The only thing I wish they'd serve their salmon benny with is fresh dill. The breakfast potatoes are good and I like how they are crispy. They also serve lunch items which I've seen but never tried before. As it's in a hotel lot, parking can be a bit tricky to find. This place is definitely more expensive, especially if you want to add protein to a pancake-like dish or add real maple syrup. I found it odd that a shot glass of maple syrup was $2. Honestly an excellent brunch experience in Canmore (and better/more reasonably priced than anywhere we ate in a neighboring tourist town)! We arrived mid-day on a weekday and were seated immediately, our server gave us enough time to review the menus but was prompt in checking in on us. I ordered a veggie omelette with egg whites (love that they don't charge for egg whites) and my dining partner ordered a vegetarian poutine (veggie gravy, too! so rare!) - we both were really pleased with our dishes. Their breakfast potatoes are mandolined and are cooked really nicely, kind of a unique way to do it. The poutine was awesome with a nicely poached egg on top - definitely a dish to remember. My omelette was classic but tasty, and it comes with toast, potatoes, and fruit for a well-rounded and hearty meal. Our coffees (one iced, one hot) were also great. Will gladly recommend this place to other people! We ate inside because it was a drizzly day, but there's a lovely patio with mountain views that I imagine would be nice with good weather. read more

May I introduce Chez Francois! The first day I got the crepe/benny combo. Apple crepes were quite good. But the second day none of us were fooling around with anything but the Benedict with perfect medium-poached eggs and liquid gold Hollandaise. The sand-dollar style potato fries are a treat, as is the fresh fruit. There is a waiter here who reminds one that serving is truly an art. It's a pleasure to watch him interact with people. An even bigger pleasure to have him remember you when you return. Chez François is a lovely Quebecois restaurant in Canmore and it's a must to go if you ever find yourself over there. It's great for family brunches. It's always busy so go early. But to be honest, the waiting time is approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Their menu offers so many options for breakfast and drinks that it's kinda hard to choose one. The staff is fast and efficient. Love they're not in a rush and they take their time to answer any questions you have from the menu. We got our meals and drinks really quickly. I got the Canadian Back Bacon eggs benedict and a cappuccino. Both were great! The hollandaise sauce is so flavourful and the fries were great. Definitely coming back soon! read more

Today, I dropped by a treated myself to Duck Confit Eggs Benedict. It was a refreshing change and needless to say it tasted delicious with a nice subtle flavor to the duck. I am mystified by the positive reviews left here. We stopped for breakfast on a Sunday morning in early August. The restaurant at 9am was not busy- maybe 3 tables. The waitress was pleasant and the restaurant was clean. I ordered orange juice, waffles with field berries, side bacon. My SO ordered coffee & eggs Florentine w/Hollandaise. My waffles looked great, but were not hot. Were they pre-cooked prior to service? I'm thinking yes. They also had zero flavor. The bacon was limp, cold and unappetizing. The garnish looked awesome though! I only ate a small portion of my dish. My SO's spinach was flavorless and the Hollandaise was refrigerator cold. I flagged down another waitress and asked if they could warm the sauce up. She replied "It's supposed to be cold- it has raw eggs in it. " Anyone that knows anything about food- or has access to the internet- knows that is not true. We left thinking Francois is really an 18 year old cook named Frankie that hates his job and resents being made to get up early to work on a Sunday morning. My advice to him is to stay in school and find a job you like. My advice to people looking for quality food? Avoid Chez Francois. read more

Ok so where do I start? The only reason this gets two stars is because the waitress we had was wonderfully pleasant, and provided nice recommendations for places to visit! This place is definitely not one of them! As a French inspired cuisine - I though I would order a traditional breakfast, "Ham and Cheese Croissant", after coming out 40 minutes later, I realized that 35 minutes had been spent under the heat lamp! While I do enjoy the Rockies, there is no reason that my croissant should be as hard as a rock! The only thing that melted in my mouth was the idea of leaving this place!
