A spacious pizza place with functional decor and a view of the ovens, should you wish. I ordered their Marinara with anchovies as a paid topping. Service was great. They didn't have the beer I wanted, so they substituted a more premium brand for the lower cost. Also very friendly. The pizza was thin crust, not Neapolitan. The garlic confit added a nice subtle flavor. The crust itself had a good chew and a heartier taste than I've had with other places. The tomato sauce was rich and savory. The anchovies gave a nice unami and salt kick, without making it too salty. However, I didn't really see or taste the advertised oregano. But i liked their house chili oil, floral and not too spicy. Continuing our search of good pizza in Banff/Canmore, we decided to try rocket pie while exploring downtown Canmore. The restaurant has the fast casual vibe and recycles used San Marzano tomato cans as pizza stand which I found pretty smart and cute. We got the Diavola pizza to-go. The pizza was made to order and took about 25 mins. At first glance, the crust is not as airy as what you'd expect for a Neapolitan pizza, and our first bite confirmed the suspicion. While the flavor of the topping was solid, the texture of the dough is closer to a bar pie or chains, and the undercarriage had a bit too much char for my liking. Given the price point is the same as other nice sit down restaurants with 5 star pizzas in Banff, Rocket Pie is not quite worth it. read more

We were hanging around Canmore, walking the local downtown area and decided to try Rocket Pie for dinner based on the reviews and few available options in town. We got one of their pizza's to go; for $27 CAD, it was a bit below expectations. We came in to place the takeout order and it took around 25 minutes to get our food; this is good because it means it was cooked to order (like it should be for a pizza spot). Just this week, we've tried pizza pies at Pizzeria Sophia and Lupo (both located in downtown Banff) at roughly the same price point. In terms of quality of the ingredients and the level of crust/ dough, this was the weakest of the grouping considering all three spots target the more gourmet level of pie. The dough at Rocket pie was a bit disappointing and closer to a chain pizza dough than a 00 flour Neapolitan style dough and crust that you'll expect from a gourmet pizza spot with a legit oven. Not sure how to describe it but the dough tasted more pre-made than a freshly done Neapolitan style crust. The toppings were fine and the red sauce was pretty good. But again, comparing apples to apples and since the price point is about the same, we were expecting a bit more from the pizza. read more

Stayed walking distance from Rocket Pie while we were in Canmore! Loved everything we had here! The kale caesar was great! And the pizzas were fantastic! Crust was perfect, sauce was spot on and toppings were fresh! My son and I loved the Margherita! The fiance loved his funghi and we also ordered a pepperoni for the 3 of us! Pepperoni was filled with lots of pepperonis on top; they really don't skimp on ingredients or toppings! We over ordered for 2 adults and a toddler but hey, YOLO! We actually came back to Rocket Pie 3x in the span of a single week, because our initial experience with Donna was such a strong positive impression. Here's what we ordered: * Focaccia - Crispy crust, soft insides, and a delicious garlic-y taste. Like all of their "breads," this was top notch. * Funghi (vegetarian) pizza - We ordered marinara sauce on the side, and the two together were fantastic. I mentioned above that I normally don't like pizza. I even *more so don't like marinara (normally). But marinara here isn't nearly as sour or tangy; instead, it's got a nice sweet taste, and I'm a huge fan. * Pesto di Pollo pizza - The star of the show in my opinion. I can't wait to come back for this specific pizza. I doused this in the chili oil they leave on the table, and gahhhhhhhhh. So cheesy. So tasty. This is my favorite pizza at Rocket Pie, and it's easily one of the top 3 pizzas I've ever had. The only other pizzas I've appreciated are "meat lover's" style -- so for such a 'simple' pizza, this is a high compliment. * Tiramisu - This reminds me of the more "watery" tiramisus in Japan. We ordered from this place twice within an hour. First we ordered in person. They told us to be back in 10 mins. We came back 15 mins. Not ready and made us wait another 8 mins. They were apologetic. They honored the 10% discount for Worldmark Guests. The 2nd time we called in for pick up. The lady who took the payment was NOT nice. She outright denied they have the discount. In total the first order was $36 - A whole pizza (Capriosa I think) plus a foccacia and a garlic sauce. 2nd order was same whole pizza plus meatballs. Reason we had to run back was because of a teenage boy who swallowed the entire box the first time. Leaving crumbs for the rest of us (3 more folks)! Total $54. Pretty hefty for pizza. We don't mind. But the service and whoever took our order the 2nd time Around 8:15 pm was memorable in that she defied the Canadian niceness and politeness we loved and appreciated so much but No discount. Our waitress was super friendly and upbeat. She took good care of us, even though it was busy and they were a bit short staffed. We enjoyed chatting with him while we ate our pizza. Which was INCREDIBLE... (sooo much flavor)I ended up eating my whole pizza, no leftovers there. The manager was accommodating to my modification request of adding garlic confit to my pizza. My fiancé's pizza didn't come out at the same time as mine and they made up for it by adding prosciutto free of charge, which is great customer service. No doubt the pizza dough was excellent because the crust on its own tasted great. I was severely disappointed with the center area of the pizza though. The crust was noticeably wet at the bottom and flopped over immediately when lifted, causing THE TOPPINGS TO FALL OFF THE PIZZA. This was a huge problem with the capricciosa was that the ingredients were way too hydrated and heavy and just slid off the pizza and I HAD TO use utensils to eat it. Flavor was not bad. I like the ingredient combo but we got only like 1 prosciutto piece that spanned two slices. The Fungi was the only one and it stuck well to the pizza better (the toppings). Unfortunately, we didn't really get the 'mushroom blend' concept because it tasted like it was predominantly button or portabellos... one dimensional, and also lightly underseasoned. Idk why the base ended up so wet but it really made the pizza unenjoyable. These were 2 of the priciest pizzas too. Italian sodas (peach snd cream) were excellent though, and the waitress/hostess were very sweet. We didn't get any water refills though just fyi but maybe there was a stand somewhere to refill. Idk. 6/10, would come again once in a blue moon... but would be hesitant to recommend. read more

The pizza is very good quality and tasty - but WAY overpriced for the size of the pie and what you get. $25 for a small Margherita pizza with three small leaves of Basil torn in half so that 1/3 of the pie had no basil on it at all...and basil is what a Margherita pizza is all about. Counter to that, they literally give you dozens of pieces of pepperoni on the pepperoni pizza so I just don't get it. The staff is very friendly, but they are frantic as the place is busy with not much seating - and there is a general feeling of chaos when you enter. Rocket Pie Pizza Canmore 2 out of 5 stars. Let me start by saying I wanted to love this place...and it has potential. But dang, what a disappointment. Let's leave the best for last shall we, as I always like to leave on a high note. Let me set the stage - we are the only table in the restaurant as the other was leaving. Cool. I dig it. We're early eaters for this reason. We seated ourselves, and then the wait began. We waited for our order to be taken (15min) .... Then we waited for our drinks to arrive (15min) - which only 2 drinks of the 4 arrived and the other 2 took another 10 minutes to arrive after (?). So now it's taken 40min to get a full set of drinks to our table with a lot of staff standing around on phones or hanging out. Odd. Still pumped to be there.... We got our pizzas fairly quick compared to the beverages - we ordered the formaggi, diavola, and pepperoni. Flavors were good, we could tell the toppings were better than your average pizza stop. However, the chore to eat them: bad. The toppings slid off as soon as we picked up the pizza. I tried the ol' 'fold it into a sandwich' trick and it still all slid out the middle with one bite. Note for first dates: a wee bit of 'za is on your face. I'm married. Don't care. We love each other even more with the 'za on our face - hey, don't judge our standards. Next my husband had his first beer - please recall the 40 minutes wait on bevvys - and no one came to his thirst rescue. He had to flag down the waiter and ask for a drink, he left not even asking if anyone else needed a refill... remember folks, only table in there. I'm a slower sipper so I was fine but, face palm this service. To my silly mistake of not ordering with him, we finished the pizzas and my drink was gone for a while and I realize 'damn, I'm thirsty'. I then embark on flagging down service (everyone was on their phone so it looked a little like a dance to get anyone's attention, and I'm NOT a good dancer). I place my well earned drink order. Again, drink came way after we were ready for the bill. Lastly of this rant, the lady at the front of house came by and asked we give her all the cutlery we hadn't used and promptly left - this is the same lady that asked if we had a pen handy for our kiddo as she didn't want to waste bringing a coloring sheet and they had no crayons (her words). I'm honestly shocked, as I thought they would've had crayons on hand for their Mickey Mouse service (ok, that was catty). Finally, we had to ask for the bill and finally got a whole sentence out of our waiter - 'how was everything' ... Not cool. Finally! The good! Flavors were alright. Nothing to go back for but, maybe I would've tried a cpl different menu items if I had the 'time' to come back. 2 stars because I had hopes and the flavors were good when you could actually get all the ingredients in your mouth. We loved the garden salad (I forget the actual menu name) with the balsamic vinaigrette, and the pepperoni pizza was delish. Rocket Pie is located in a newer commercial development on the east part of Canmore, closer to Highway 1, and is a quick drive or manageable walk from the hotels/rental condos in the area. Rocket Pie is thin crust pizza, and is absolutely fabulous. The crust is chewy and the toppings are fresh and plentiful. I went with my husband and we had great service and a fun dining experience. Two pizzas left us full and with lots of delicious leftovers for lunch the next day. Highly recommended, and I will return on my next visit to Canmore. read more
